It's getting hard to find trustworthy auto repair these days and specialty mechanics like Mel's British Auto Repair are almost non existent in San Diego. They do great work, friendly staff and pay attention to detail. Glad they were referred to me as I will continue to use their services.

Brandon the owner is a great guy a real hard worker and he really knows what he's doing. He works on classic cars high-end cars, and currently he's working on my 1969 mustang doing some pretty extensive work.He is very pleasant and easy to deal with, very fair-minded and helpful when he can be. I can't recommend his shop enough and all the people there are really great. most HIGHLY recommended!

Five stars! I simply cannot say enough positive words about Brendon and his team at Mel's. I'm honestly so relieved and grateful for his insight, professionalism, and deep knowledge on a vehicle as complex and challenging as ours. Recently we acquired a vintage British car, so the learning curve on what needs to be looked at and maintained can be a bit daunting. Brendon was patient, attentive and exceptionally thorough, walking me through what needed repair and what to look for down the road. I never met Mel, but he definitely chose the right team in Brendon and Zane and the entire staff to carry on his business's namesake and legacy.

Brendan and the crew at Mel's worked on my 1966 MG roadster after it had been garaged for two years during the pandemic. They got it running as smoothly as it ever has in its long life. Not inexpensive but I found the price commensurate with the results. Sadly, later this year, my beloved car developed an issue that I was not prepared to fix. Brendan went out of his way to help me find an appropriate buyer and just went above and beyond in providing help when I most needed it. Bottom line: they provided great mechanics for an old car most shops don't have a clue how to fix, and even better all around service.

MUST READ A good Mechanic is like a good Doctor. Once you find one you can trust, and who has your best interest at heart, you don't need to look anymore. I have been taking my car to Mel's since 2008. Well once Mel retired last year, I was wondering where I would take my car. Well I found a new/old place. Brendan, Scott, Zane, and the rest of their team have made Mel proud in carrying on the tradition of a honest, knowledgeable, dependable, and enjoyable place to take your vehicle. Even though I have moved to Orange County, I will continue to make the drive down to San Marcos for my vehicle service needs. They were even so accommodating enough to fit me in with my time restraints. There rates are about the same as everywhere you go now. But here you get honesty, and mechanical knowledge (not just a dealership parts changer). I wish them all the best, and congratulate them on continuing a lost art that Mel's has always had. "be honest, do a great service, and treat your customers with respect" Referrals are the best kind of business. I will still refer Mel's Automotive to everyone I know or meet.

Had my 1960 MGA shipped from Las Vegas, could not find a reliable facility there. Found Mel's through various car buffs and mechanics. The work they did and the care they took on the car was amazing, they treat it like it is there ow Reputable, Reliable, Professional.

My parents recommend this place to me a while back and I am happy that I had my car towed here for repair after it broke down.The initial diagnosis was a throttle sensor gone bad and I got an estimate for repair. After replacing the sensor the system was diagnosed as having a second sensor needing replacement that wasn’t discovered the first time because the first broken sensor blocked the seconded one from being seen by the diagnostic computer.Brendon explained everything to me and discussed my options and made sure I approved the additional part/cost before doing more work.I greatly appreciate the honesty and good communication. My car is running great now!
