This is my favorite J&W location, for sentimental reasons. When we first started our company, West Coast Deck (deck and patio contractor here in north county San Diego), we purchased all of our materials here. The manager, Wes, is awesome, and Nick, Oscar, and Noah are all both kind, thoughtful, and knowledgeable.
Tell them Jameson from West Coast Deck sent you and see if they’ll give you my contractor discount ?
If you need cedar, redwood, hardwood, ipe, mangaris, mahogany, as well as all types of composite decking (eg TimberTech), they’ve got you covered. Also a wide variety of fence supplies and hardware/fasteners.
My only complaint is that my favorite donuts are usually gone by the time I get there.

Meh. I went specifically to look at plywood and to talk about Alumawood patio covers. The person who first tried to help me in the wood yard took me to see the redwood when I said I was shopping for plywood. I'm not sure he knew the difference. Took another 5 minutes for someone to tell me they don't sell plywood any longer. (Really? A lumber yard that doesn't sell plywood?)
Then I asked about the Alumawood patio covers - got a long story about how hard they are to work with, so they don't sell them any longer either. Ok, then update your website. Both are mentioned on the website.

I cannot say enough great things about this J&W lumber location. The staff are all so incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, considerate and kind. In our world today, it's hard to find really solid customer service, and these people never let me down.

This place was great! I'm a licensed contractor, but my speciality is hardscape/masonry. I took on a job requiring some speciality hardwood decking (ipe wood) and got referred here by a landscape architect buddy. J&W didn't disappoint. Noah helped me and answered all my questions and got me the right product super easy. To me, it was like speaking a different language discussing wood/lumber materials versus concrete and block, but these guys were pros and made it easy. I was in and out in 20 minutes and got to select the 6 specific deck boards I needed. Makes me want to do more projects with these materials knowing that I can rely on in-house expertise.

I walked into this business with nothing but a photo to base my project off of. As soon as I walked in, I was welcomed and helped immediately by Noah. Not only was he patient with trying to figure out what I was looking for but he took the time to explain all of my options and how to get the look of a fence I was looking for. Everything felt comfortable and you can tell these guys all get along great. (Nothing more awkward than walking into a business and feeling the tension between employees). I highly recommend this business just from my initial visit, simply for the high level of patience and customer service! Thanks again for your help Noah!

This team helped me match my 1960s custom siding that needed to be replaced during an electrical panel upgrade. I was not expecting to have to replace this siding, but they matched my pieces perfectly in less than a week and we were back up and running in no time for a reasonable price and with great customer service and communication.

I have a deck that was built at my house all through the helping hands and direction of the sales team to the yard staff at this location. Nick, Wes, Noah, Max, and the rest of the crew were and still are so helpful and friendly. Give this store a visit for products and or advice on fencing, decks, and many more wood projects around the house if your a homeowner.

This is the definitive family-owned, full service lumber yard! They have been in San Diego for several generations with knowledgeable and helpful staff who are happy to assist with virtually all of your questions and lumber-related plans. It doesn't matter whether you're a contractor or a DIY homeowner like me, you'll get taken care of nicely. I first did business with them 35 years ago at their original location in El Cajon. Now, I visit the San Marcos yard where manager Robert, Joe, Noah, Jesus and his entire crew are there and eager to help you. Every time, I've received quality products, sound advice and terrific service.
