Had my hair cut and styled today by Mary at Ulta in SLO. Mary listened to my concerns and wishes and did not disappoint. She understands my goals and is helping me achieve them. I appreciate that she listened and actually heard me and did not cut more than I wanted. Thank you, Mary! See you in 2 months to get me closer to my goal!

Today I was at Ulta picking up supplies and decided to have my roots done. I talked to the stylist, Mary about my hair and she suggested we try the express color as my hair isn't resistant to color. I said sounds great. It looked like it was a bit dark as I waited for the processing to complete. In 10 mins Mary was back to wash the color out, we went back to the chair and as she started blow drying my hair it became apparent the the root color was far to dark and was not blending at all with my blondish hair. I pointed this out to Mary and her response was that we should wait until it was more dry and see how it looked. It did not get better but Mary explained she needed to dry it all before she could confer with her manager. Her manager came back with her and explained that Mary could try to lift some of the color but I would have to wait until Mary came back from lunch as California law mandates she must take her lunch. Mary came back after her 30 minute break and was even more confused about how this could have happened, some of her thoughts were that my hair was to "grabby" or that the small amount of spray on root color that I used "caused some kind of interaction" and that "this is what happens when you take walk ins" and the express dye "was turning a much darker color". Mary applied some type of product to my hair in the sink, put a hair cover on my hair and put me under the dryer. As I sat there wondering about the possible ways to fix my hair, whatever she put on my hair started running down my face and back. I got up and asked for a towel and at this point Mary was seeming a bit annoyed so I figured it was time to leave. Mary washed the product out of my hair and I told her I would brush and quickly blow dry my hair. Mary's manager came back over to inform me that I could not use the tools and that she did not appreciate me saying Mary was incompetent. I informed the manager I did not tell Mary she was incompetent I told mary I was sure I would be able to find someone competent to fix my hair as they seemed to have a poor understanding of what the problem was or how to fix it. Additionally I informed the manager that my main problem was that neither Mary nor her manager took any responsibility for the unintended hair coloring. I was not charged for the event nor did they fix my hair. Unprofessional, poorly educated, poorly trained, and absolutely incompetent in my experience. I will not trust an Ulta store salon again.

The employees at this ulta are not attentive at all. Was waiting (first in line) to pick up my paid order. Then another lady cut in front of me to pick up her order and the cashier just allowed it to happen.

The plus size older woman with short black hair that was wearing a black dress working today was extremely rude. When I asked about the fragrances she talked to me in a very condescending fashion. It was so bad I literally turned around and just left the store. I was planning on spending hundreds of dollars good job lady! I'll be taking my business to Sephora.

I went to the Ulta salon to get a blowout on 6-20-23. The woman who did my hair was a total sweetheart and had great customer service. However my issue was that I was over charged by $35. In the description of what they offer for a $45 blowout, it states thermal styling (straightening or curling) however on my checkout receipt it says I was charged $45 for a blowout and $35 extra to have my hair straightened. I was charged $75 to have my hair washed, blow dried, and straightened? When I called the supervisor to bring it to her attention she argued that thermal styling was not included, once I told her it says it is in their description she stated it's because the appointment took an extra 15 minutes because I have "a lot of hair" lol my hair is just below my shoulders and average thickness. When I calmly and politely explained that it doesn't makes sense for me to pay $35 for 15 minutes of straightening (which I had to redo once I got home anyways) Anyways moral of the story, super sweet staff but was almost charged double what I should've been especially for the quality.

Ulta was certainly not ULTImate service today. I was in the store for at least a half hour with no one offering to help. When I first walked in, I was greeted by hello but then nothing while 3 of the employees seemed to be talking about one of their weddings and scheduling. I later learned that one of them was a manager. I thought about saying something but then considered I would just be seen as a cranky old lady. Yes, I'm a senior but ended up spending $115 today on things I was able to find all on my own, no thanks to anyone helping or offering suggestions. I'll stick with Sephora where I can always count on good help.

I went to Gina to get my hair done back in January and she did a great job with my highlights. Since then I'm back every 8 weeks. She's knowledgeable and is honest. My hair feels healthy again. Definitely recommend her.

Having a teenage granddaughter who introduced me to Ulta has been fun and quite an experience for this grandma. I recently had the pleasure of having one your sales representatives help me in returning an item and also in purchasing a few other things. The young lady's name is Amy, and I really cannot come up with enough positive adjectives to compliment her! Besides being professional, she is warm, kind, polite and super cute! Amy really is an asset to Ulta and deserves to be recognized and appreciated!

Gina's charismatic and kind nature made my whole experience! We went with a beautiful brunette balayage...it came out perfect! So grateful! It's only been a a few days since getting my hair done and it's been nonstop compliments...love it! So glad I decided to take the chance and go get my hair done, just so happy with it! New favorite place!

I will no longer shop at this company. Unconcerned about store samples being switched with products you buy. Opened my brow gel to find a used gel, yuk!! Also, the sale item I was looking to purchase was completely gone. I believe the company advertises these sales with low or no inventory with the intent of getting you in the store to purchase full price items. This practice use to be against the law...
