The Mountain Air is one of my favorite shops in SLO. It is close to downtown, and they have the best brands for practicing outdoor activities. They have an extensive selection of hiking gear and clothes; Josh, the owner, is very nice and friendly. I can't wait to go back again. They have a sister store next door called "The Switchback" and sell used clothes and new from the best brands at a reduced price. I went there several times during my SLO vacation and loved it.

A fantastic local outdoor establishment with top-quality brands. It is certainly my go-to shop when I need high quality gear, or have specific questions that I know their well trained staff can and will happily answer, and more often than not, remember your name. Their service remains stellar to this day.

One of the things I love about TMA is how comfortable they make me. I am not an extreme mountaineer, but I am a lover of the outdoors, a car/tent camper, and a novice skier. TMA embraces and supports all levels of outdoorsmen/women, and for that I am grateful.

What a great experience at Mountain Air in SLO! Jonah was literally the best he helped me get the perfect fit for my first pair of ski boots, patient, knowledgeable, & super nice!! Would definitely recommend everyone in the area. Thanks for a positive experience :)

Awesome service. They really know their gear and once you describe what looking for , guide you to the right options. Very friendly group helping as well. I like also their clothe options. Love the stores own branded T-shirt color and style (homemade logo ) .

I appreciate this store for its customer service. Staff is helpful and knowledgeable. I usually shop for shoes, backpacks and Yeti products. If the size I need isn’t in stock they offer to order it for me. My son gets bouldering equipment there. The merchandise is high quality. Prices aren’t a “good deal” but they have a yearly sale where you can stock up on things. Also, there is s parking lot customers can use without paying, a rare thing in our downtown area. If you’re in need of any outdoorsy gear then consider stopping in.
