A lot of character at this facility, that said the standard rooms were ok. Looked like rushed remodels took place here at some point. The paint not done all that well, chunks of chipped and missing paint in other areas. The tubs were nice and upstairs standard rooms had a great view. I would not want to be on the lower floor. Restaurant was tasty. Ground are very nice wirh access to good hiking. Our toilet plugged up and it took over an hour for maintenance to come to fix it. We were locked out of our room prior to check out. I'd only stay here again with some type of price special (as we did this time) for the standard rooms. I can't speak to the suites as those seemed much more modern.

This happens to be my favorite place to soak!! The smell is something out of this world, and the employees are great at making every experience there your BEST experience!5-09-24.... I still feel the way I did then about this place now ❤️! The smell, however, these days is more like bleach....

Nice little resort. The grounds are beautiful. Parking was a bit of a cluster. The room was spacious and nice. Not quite luxurious but definitely comfortable. We got a self filling tub which was great since there was no chlorine. The tub itself was outdated and an eyesore but it worked. I would come back often if it wasn't so expensive. Don't think it's quite up to the standards of $600 a night.

My brother in law gave us a very generous gift card to Sycamore, as we had stayed there on our honeymoon and it was magical—the room was called “Zany”. Several times when we went to SLO for a family visit we were told we couldn’t use it that weekend for various reasons, and it started to feel very strange. Just because the money had been prepaid to the resort, it was clear they were treating it as though it had a different monetary value than the money that purchased it, but it also felt like they were holding it hostage. Finally we called to use it on yet another weekend we’d be in town and they denied us AGAIN. I’m not by any means a rude or impatient person, but what offended was that they took advantage of my brother in law, who is one of the kindest people I’ve ever met. I decided I should call them back, explain the situation and inform them of how many times we’d been turned away. They relented and let us book a night FINALLY. They also promised that we’d get Zany, which is our favorite room—we preferred it even over the Queen suite we’d also stayed in. What we got was not the room we had requested; it was a small bottom floor room, next to utilities and it clearly had a water leak issue in the ceiling—honestly it was dingy. It was very loud being on both the bottom floor and being next to utilities, combined with the ever present road noise. I was shocked they even had rooms like this at Sycamore. Since that stay we’ve never been back and it only seems to be getting more expensive. A recommendation to anyone wanting to treat someone to a stay: simply book the room for them and never buy a gift card!

My wife and I purchase the multi spa card thingy! 10 soaks, saves a few bucks. We try to go weekly. Always clean, spas are clean, service is sometimes just meh....it really depends on who you get at the counter at sign in.We've never stayed in the rooms, though the little food court across the bridge is pretty cool. The grounds are nice and clean and we really enjoy the restaurant.I'm not sure how much of the water in the tubs is actually "spring" but you feel lovely afterwards. Those stairs though, murder on the legs, but very much well worth it.Could not recommend this place more!

I booked a massage and facial here. The commentary got tub time was a nice experience but I definitely would not pay for it separately. It is private for the most part but if someone was self conscious they'd be paranoid about being seen through the spaces between the floor and walls. You hear the traffic from the road all around the spa which they unfortunately can't control. The workers are nice. The locker room and restrooms are okay. I guess I went into the experience hoping for something more upscale but it was more rustic and hippie.

Go. Amazing overnight birthday trip. Trails to walk, hot mineral tub in the rooms, amazing gift shop and kind staff.

The service is very sweet, but the rooms are cheap and lacking details that would really improve the stay such as a hook for your robe or towel in the bathroom and by the hot tub. It’s beautiful but loads of noise from the road — it felt overpriced for that reason. Definitely enjoyed the climb to the hot tub and the lovely surrounds there. It’s hard to know if I would come back…

If you have not been there lately, you must go back. Food was excellent and the rooms in the woods near the secret garden make for the perfect weekend escape.Nearby activities: A short bike ride away from Avila Beach!

The website doesn't do this place justice! Private hot tubs nestled in the trees in a Swiss Family Robinson style with peace, quiet, and oak forest surrounding. Lovely gift shop, too. Highly recommend!
