I guess you get what you pay for. We were only staying 1 night so we thought, “how bad could it be?” IT WAS BAD! Beware of this place, especially if traveling with young children. Overall, the Sand Inn & Suites is poorly maintained and unsafe.There is no attention to detail here and it’s probably one of the worst places I’ve ever stayed. This place is currently under construction and, in addition to hiding that fact upon booking, they’re not doing a very good job of keeping their tools and equipment out of the way. I walked out of the lobby and there was a button battery on the ground right outside the door— HUGE safety hazard if picked up and accidentally ingested by curious little ones or pets. The parking lot and walkways are old, cracked, uneven, and unsafe.When we got into our room there was a thin layer of dust on everything and the floor was not swept. Despite our room being “recently renovated” there were holes and marks on the walls and the furniture is old.We went to the pool and the lounge chairs were covered in grime and cobwebs. Clear sign that they’re not even trying to keep things maintained. There seems to be an overall “set it and forget it” mentality here and management needs to do a better job. I feel like they put more effort into making things look nice on the website than prioritizing the comfort and safety of their guests. I will never stay here again.Rooms: Dusty old furniture and unswept floors. Sleep is almost impossible as plumbing runs all night- i thought it was the toilet at first but somehow the sound is coming from inside the walls. It sounds like a cheap fountain is constantly running in the bathroom area. The fridge buzzes and hums constantly.Safety: Overall unsafe. Old, cracked, uneven parking lot and walkways. Button battery lying on the ground right outside the lobby. Construction tools, equipment, scraps, and debris everywhere.Walkability: Probably the only good thing about this place is its proximity to restaurants. Benny’s is where it’s at if you like pizza but there are many more places to stay that are located even closer.

WAIT A MINUTE... HANG ON...Did I book a room at the SANDS INN & SUITES or the RITZ CARLTON?As you might imagine given that this review is posted on the Google Maps page for the Sands Inn & Suites, I didn't book a room at the Ritz Carlton.My stay at the Sands was impeccable. I wouldn't trade my experience here for anything in the world...except maybe A MILLION DOLLARS. Other than that, I WOULDN'T TRADE IT FOR ANYTHING.

We've spent Many times at Sands Inn- really enjoy it! And now one of our sons and his family live in San Luis Obispo so we'll be staying there whenever we can. Thanks!Rooms: We really like the room we were just in, with a king bed and a good sized room!Nearby activities: Lots of things going on at the downtown on Higuera-Safety: Feel very safe at this hotel!Walkability: It's such a close area to walk downtown- or walking into neighborhoods is nice too.

We stayed here in July and had the worst experience, the room was tore up an they said it was being upgraded, the lady at the deck didn’t even know why they rented to us , I tried to get my money back nope , and maybe a discount nope .. Do not stay here ! And it’s next to the road and very noisy . But the worst part was the customer service , the young lady at the desk was nice , but her boss and his boss were horrible

Half of the stuff in the room didn't work worst suite I have stayed in. I was in the Governor Suite. Also fell tripping on the 1/2 ripped up carpet in front of My room. They don't care.

Value hotel with good location. Recent renovations, upgraded bathrooms. Provided Breakfast was good—bagels, waffles, fruit, coffee, etc. the suite has privacy doors between living room and bedroom.

Checked in with baby to find the entire suites had no heat working and the room was like 50F, guy at reception was not helpful at all and all they could offer was refund the money so we can find another place. I asked if they can give space heaters and they said they dint have any.

That’s how dirty the floors were, in one small area. Cords strewn across. Not safe or sanitary. No apology or anything to compensate for the room.Rooms: Not well cleaned.

Made reservation early in the morning day of my expected stay via their website. Got a confirmation code, but no follow up email.They didn't answer numerous calls to their published 800 or local number, with no voicemail option. Tried emailing them, no response. Found their Instagram, which has different numbers for text, no answer. It also has a different email which bounces back. Insta messages were unresponded to. Checked credit card, no pending charge... I think they're closed.

Not a pleasant experience with the room. Broken lock in the washroom. Informed front desk and manager. After 5 calls, they are telling me they can't provide any discounts for the inconvenience. No integrity in terms of following up with customer. They are saying Renovation is in progress, why did rent a room if work is being done.

Rooms had been updated since our last stay. New floors, new paint, bed soft. We enjoyed the hot tub out side and the breakfast was hot and lots of food choices. Staff was friendly and welcoming. We will stay again!
