I went to the market to buy $100 worth of goods (with ebt) that can only be found in that store within a thirty-mile or more radius (unfortunately), and, while I love to support small, local businesses, the lady who works there half the time is always unbelievably rude. She asked my friend and I if we wanted a bag to which we said yes because my friend only brought her tote and $100 worth of stuff is more than four hands and a small tote can carry. We pay and then my friend starts putting things in her bag, so this cashier lady says she can do it instead. My friend replies, “no, thanks. I can do it.” Immediately, this woman looks irritated, so she says again, more firmly, “No, really, I can bag it,” not realizing that this is like offering someone to put their groceries into their purse for them. When my friend, once again, says no thanks, because why would her answer have changed since the last time, this person pulls out their phone and takes a picture of the security camera with us at the cashier as if we didn’t just buy $100 worth of stuff. And when we ask for the bag we previously asked for, she says it’s 10¢. I pull out my card, but she says we needed to have made a $10 to pay with card, and we paid with ebt, which normally waives the need to pay for the bag. I am scrounging for pennies, asking other people in line if they have anything. This cashier stands there, waiting patiently like she wasn’t trying to rush us away before so the line could keep moving. And so we grab all our stuff by hand, and this woman doesn’t ask of we’d like our receipt, which is the ideal way to check one’s ebt balance, if you don’t know. The only reason I even noticed the missing receipt is because our friend was in line behind us, and she also paid with ebt, and was asked if she’d like a receipt. The point is, this person is always rude when we come to the store, and I’ve heard similar things from other friends. I understand that we live in a college town with a PWI, but that doesn’t mean it’s acceptable to treat every single student who may just be trying to get an education and eat red bean buns like they’re going to steal the entire inventory. I would go somewhere else if there was somewhere else to go because it’s often a bad experience.

Super nice place with very friendly service and good selection. Needs more variety of Lao Gan Ma!

Your quintessential Asian food market in SLO. Has a wide variety of foods including meats, fish, shellfish, produce and frozen vegetables. Also a very large selection of packaged noodles, canned goods, dry goods, confectionery and beverages. I particularly like their wide variety of beer, shoshu, and sake. Some anime-inspired toys as well. Some cooking utensils and pottery including bowls, plates and chopsticks. Whether you seek Chinese, Thai, Korean, Japanese, or pilipino products, and spices and dashi, they probably have it or something close to it. Support them often as you can otherwise as it’s three hours north or south to anything similar and fresh.

I try and come here pretty frequently when I am in San Luis Obispo. There are a few Asian snacks and candies that I get cravings for and this is really the only place to get them. There are a few other Asian markets in the region, but not really as well stocked as this one. I've had a few nice conversations with the owner and have always found them helpful and kind.

I love this store so much. I'm so grateful to have such an abundant asian market nearby. I love seeing all of the ramen and snack options. They really have everything I could ever want.

I've moved here recently from the Bay Area and was desperate to find a place where I could find ingredients to do my Thai, Japanese, and Chinese cooking. I am so glad to have found this place! They even have fresh Thai basil and will order me Holy basil if I need it! They have such a large selection for a small space- even the more obscure items which I used to find in the Bay Area. The owner is extremely nice and helpful. Like I said she will be glad to order anything for you if they don't have it. I'm looking forward to this being my go-to Asian store.

I come here for the ice cream and snacks. Little green tea and chocolate fishy shaped ice creams cant be found anywhere else. Son loves the glass pop-it drinks with a bunch of flavors. I hate red bean mochi (Trial and error with a bunch of flavors) I bought some red bean fishy ice cream by mistake and they let me replace them. I've only seen one cashier and she makes great recommendations too!

Super friendly service. Store is very clean & tidy. Decent prices. Loads of drinks & specialty items to choose from...but I would not mind one bit if they decide to offer a bigger selection of candy, snacks & ice cream. Either way, I highly recommend this store & I will definitely be a regular here.

Customer service sucks because the lady is rude. Friends had same issues in the past too. Different issue everytime. It seems she profiles people or doesn't care about controlling her mood so its a hit or miss if shes nice to you. I had like 2 friends out of 10 who had a decent experience. I love tipping and supporting small businesses but it was sad how she picks and chooses. Good luck if you go in. Most of the icecream is icky too..

AMAZING GEM in SLO! The shopkeeper is so lovely, always kind and knowledgeable. There is a great selection of Asian products, enough to get by while in SLO. They don't have specialty items the way large Asian supermarkets like Ranch 99 does or other shops in Asian dominant communities, but their selection will meet most of your needs.Great customer service! The shop is clean and well organized. So glad SLO has something like this available
