The folks at Moondoggies couldn’t be nicer & warmer people. I was coming into SLO from LA on Christmas Eve and they hand delivered my cousins Christmas gift I ordered to my hotel so it would be there when I arrived. It was extremely sweet of them to take the time on a busy holiday eve to do that so my cousin could open her gifts on Christmas (which she was completely over the moon about ?). I will absolutely continue to frequent Moondoggies every time I’m in town. Thank you for going above & beyond the call of duty to help make Christmas bright for my family!

Closing time on Apple Maps is 8:00 PM, I got to their doors at 7:50 and was denied entry. Waisted my time and left me angry. Clear sign of a poorly run establishment.

Although street parking is next to impossible (It’s across the street from the mission plaza); but once inside it’s gave the good vibes of a 1963-1970 coastal surf shop. Got a pair of walking shorts, and a Moondoggies tee shirt for my grandson’s birthday. They didn’t have a rash guard in his size; but the beach bunny salesperson suggested we go to their larger store at Pismo Beach. However, I picked up a groovy pair of shades for myself.

I am a big fan of local surf shops as I grew up on Jack's in Huntington Beach. When i travel i love to check out the local equivalent and see how they do. Moondoggies is one of those iconic surf shops that has perfected the trifecta of their location. Located near popular surf spots on the central coast, in a university town and mixing that with a diverse visiting population for the brews and vino is not an easy task. The beach club vibe is what they have been doing since 1986 and had something for everyone from the visiting beach goer to the hardcore surfer they have you covered. Service is great, friendly and prices are reasonable making it a must stop by location.

If you want to go into a "small business" and get nasty looks from all the employees, this is the place to go. We brought a backpack because we thought we could go to the beach, but it decided to rain in Pismo so me and others were in hoodies and sweatpants. As we entered the store we got horrible looks from all the workers. Getting eye rolls and employees hooked into there conversation and not the customer . Only trying on some overalls, disliking them, and putting them back on the shelf telling them have a nice day. Only in there for a few minutes because we had to pee. Around 1 hour later one of the rude workers who is 15 years of age ran up to us in the middle of the cross walk saying, "One of our hangers in the dressing room doesn't have it's clothes, so give it to us or we will call the cops." Not even an excuse me or nothing! We told them we they can check our bags if needed but she said no. We went back into the store and confronted plus confirmed with them about the false accusation . The worker that confronted us changed her whole attitude! Going from Disrespectful to shy. Saying she said it in a nice way. Even though she wasn't I felt very disrespected in the store and overall disappointed.

I went in this cute surf shop hoping to find good service and cute clothes, and I found neither. The employees were being very rude and judgmental. The workers were very rude and were wrapped in their conversations instead of their costumers. First it was hard to get service with out an eye roll. Second of all it's hard to walk in with hoodies (while it's raining) plus a backpack (packed with towels for the beach). We walked in to look around and walked out to go to the bathroom because we just came back from eating. Then later on we see one of the workers ( A 15 years old) come running up to us with a nasty attitude and automatically blaming us for stealing and running out of the store plus threatening to call the cops. After we got out of that situation we went back just to confirm and she starts acting different and saying it was very nice the way she approached us which was not. It was very rude and obviously didn't know what they were talking about. We all got accused of stuff we would never do. It ruined our day and was very irresponsible.

I'm posting this because my mom was treated poorly by the cashier here. The cashier asked my mom to show him her ID when she was paying for a $12 sunscreen by credit card. Other customers before or after her were not to asked to so. Why a nice senior asian mom? I understand for large purchases, in some stores they ID to verify. But, a $12 sunscreen? And, only she was IDed? If this is not discrimination, what is?
