100 Madonna Rd, San Luis Obispo“What a magical Time Machine! We stayed in room 136: Swiss Rock. Our toddler loved that we were staying in a ‘cave!’ One drawback of the room? The shower was extremely slippery since the floor was rock. We had to throw down towels to keep from slipping. Also, waking in the middle of the night for a bathroom stroll can be offsetting. Due to the floor being uneven, it feels like you’re intoxicated. I can’t imagine how it would be if you truly were intoxicated!
We got to spend a little bit of time exploring the wonderful Secret Garden. It was a big hit with our toddler. Especially the pond. He also loved the fake bull and wishing fountain.
We ate breakfast at the restaurant. It was delicious, but pricey. My wife ordered an omelette and juice, I ordered a two egg breakfast and coffee, and we ordered toast and juice for our toddler. The bill came to $71.99. As Del ious as it was, that’s a crazy bill for breakfast.
My mother in law thought the room looked ‘old’ via FaceTime, and while understandable, that’s kind of the point. It isn’t mean to be modern. It’s meant to transport one back to a more lavish time. Some might find the bedspread and fixtures gaudy, but I felt like I was staying in a swank seventies hotel. My wife absolutely loved it as well.
For our anniversary, I bought her a slice of their famed pink cake. It was $14 a slice, but it’s hard to argue that it wasn’t worth it! I don’t like cake and even I was impressed! And the slice is humongous!
We are so looking forward to returning when we can stay for more than two nights!”

We were lucky to have Van Gogh room, decorated in Blue and yellow, every detail was well taken care of, super nice. Only downside is the shower water is not stable and also WiFi is a bit slow”

It was nice to be in a small place that isn't so full of itself like many chain kind of places. Breakfast was simple but easy and just all we needed to start our day.”

“I've stayed in about 5 different budget motels in SLO and this one was my favorite. Nice convenient downtown area. Rooms were very clean and had good quality comfortable mattresses and pillows. Manager is friendly and helpful.”
“It's a nice clean motel with updated rooms. A reasonable price for what you get. Just off the freway next to the Madonna Inn.
Rooms: The rooms are updated and clean. I can say that for the room I stayed in.
Walkability: Can walk to things in town.”
“Surprisingly nice for a Best Western. Reminds me of places we would go in a family vacation for a road trip in the 1980s. Nice hot tub, pool and fire pit area. Customer service was not the greatest. Couldn’t even get a receipt for my stay from the front desk, although my coworkers could (we all booked via a corporate travel agency). Some rooms on higher floors are not elevator accessible so keep that in mind when booking.”
“Debra is absolutely incredible. She provided us the map and her suggestions were very helpful to us.
We really like her very much and her dog Reno was adorable and loyal .
We recommend this hotel if you would like to have an incredible time here in SLO.”
“We booked a hotel block of 10 rooms at TownePlace Suites San Luis Obispo for our wedding in early April 2024. Christine made the entire process incredibly smooth. Back in June 2023, she clearly explained everything and was upfront about all the details. It was a relief to have such transparency!
Christine even followed up with us as the wedding weekend approached, making sure everything was still on track. Our guests were very happy with their spacious suites at TownePlace. The location was perfect, convenient for getting around San Luis Obispo after our downtown wedding.
We highly recommend working with Christine and TownePlace Suites San Luis Obispo for any hotel block needs. They offered great pricing and made the whole experience a breeze.”

1125 Garden St, San Luis Obispo“Overall a great stay! Location is within walking distance of anything you could need/want. The garden with the fireplace is a great place to have a late night sip and good convo - very quiet and relaxing. The rooms are beautiful and spacious, but the balcony tiny lol. The staff at the front desk and valet were fantastic - very friendly and made us feel welcomed. I do want to highlight the bartender at the pool bar. Ally is her name, I believe (sorry if I got it wrong). Not only did she make the most DELICIOUS drinks, but she also recommended the fig and pig pizza and it was SO GOOD. We ended up ordering a spicy margarita, 5 "spa days" (seriously, best piña colada type drink that I've EVER had and I don't care for coconut anything), the fig and pig pizza and chips and guac (the chips are fried fresh!). The pool area is a great place to chill, sip some drinks and snack on good food from the restaurant within the hotel. We will ABSOLUTELY be back here for another girl's weekend!”

1511 Monterey St, San Luis Obispo“Came to SLO for my wife’s birthday and couldn’t have been happier with our decision to stay at The Butler Hotel. This was a new type of stay for us as there is no front desk, however once we walked in we immediately understood that this property was special and didn’t require one. They email and text you the code to the front fore and the code to your room. Upon walking in we were shocked at how nice everything looked and the attention to detail with the design. There was a bottle of wine and local treats on the bar, and cute little reading/sitting area, and the interior design was amazing. As for the room, we loved the tall ceilings, lighting, and bathroom design. Everything just seemed to flow well.I would definitely recommend this place!”

1800 Monterey St, San Luis Obispo“This hotel is a walk away from downtown San Luis Obispo and close to Cal Poly SLO. The hotel and room decorations are a nod to its' location very near the campus of Cal Poly SLO with many school and dorm room themes. There is a nice pool on the property. The fitness center is very small. One elliptical, one peleton bike and one treadmill. There is a very large bathroom inside the fitness center (fitness center space very small, bathroom space very large...?). This definitely does have a nice location. The first room we were given smelt like cigarette smoke even though this is a non smoking hotel. While we were walking to the second room we were given, the hallway smelled of marijuana smoke. The second room was just fine.
Nearby activities: The Cal Poly SLO campus is close by and downtown San Luis Obispo is about a 10 to 12 minute walk down Monterey from the hotel. There are bicycles to rent too.
Walkability: Park your car at the hotel ($10 parking) and it's a nice walk to downtown SLO.”
“We recently stayed at SLO Brew Lofts for our wedding weekend at The Carrisa (right downstairs!), and it was the perfect home base for our celebrations. While the price tag might give you a pause, let me tell you, it's absolutely worth it!
Here's why SLO Brew Lofts stole a piece of our hearts:
Boutique Charm: The vibe is undeniably chic and boho, with a warm and inviting atmosphere. It felt like a luxurious stay in a friend's stylish apartment.
Cleanliness A+: The loft was spotless and beautifully maintained. It felt fresh and comfortable, perfect for unwinding after a day of wedding festivities.
Convenience King: Location, location, location! Being right next door to The Carrisa was incredibly convenient, especially for those last-minute touches. Plus, exploring downtown SLO was a breeze.
Parking Solved (Almost): Street parking can be tricky, but SLO Brew Lofts provides complimentary parking passes, taking the stress out of finding a spot.
Stacia Saves the Day: Huge shoutout to Stacia, the property manager! When we accidentally locked ourselves on the rooftop (don't ask!), Stacia answered our call immediately and helped us out in a flash. Now that's top-notch service!
If you're looking for a stylish, comfortable, and centrally located place to stay while soaking in all that San Luis Obispo has to offer, then look no further than SLO Brew Lofts. Highly recommend for anyone wanting to experience the best of downtown SLO!

2015 Monterey St, San Luis Obispo“The last time I was here was like 8 years ago... I worked and stayed here before and I'll be honest this is the most unstressful job and place I've ever been. I love the people here, very accommodating. The rooms are awesome. My favorite time here is Christmas ? time. It's very festive! You will rrally feel the spirit of Christmas! The cookies here and their restaurant were the bomb. I will definitely will come back and stayed here again.”
“We stay at this motel once a year for a special event. The rooms are basic...nothing special. The staff are really pretty cool. The best part about this motel is the location. You can easily walk to downtown shops and restaurants within minutes. The rooms might not be anything amazing but I have never had a problem with cleanliness or bugs or anything of that sort.Rooms: They do offer select options and my preferred is with two beds separated like a suite. They do have limited amounts of these available.Nearby activities: Irish pub right down the street. 24 hr gas station across the street and also a bakery.Safety: Never had anything broken into. I have left my car in the back parking lot and even on the side street with no problemsWalkability: Just about anything you could want close by. I will say as a reminder to people that San Luis shuts down most food places pretty early compared to other cities. One of the only 24 hr options is a McDonald's down the road a bit.”

“My husband and I took a spontaneous trip to Morro Bay and stopped by the motel six first but they wanted $200 for a one night stay so we booked a last minute room in San Luis At the Homestead. For $95 beggars can’t be choosers. It’s true that this place needs to be fixed up a little but I found it to be charming. The lady at the front desk gladly let us check in an hour early and gave us extra towels. There was a microwave and small fridge and cable tv and WiFi. This place isn’t gonna be like checking into a Quality Inn or even a Motel 6, but it’s a pretty nice place to stay, especially if you’re traveling on a budget. I enjoyed myself and would come back again.”
“The first room we had the bathroom window wasn't able to close and had no screen so we switched and the 2nd room was better just the light switch in bathroom turned off in the middle of my shower. It wasn't even a timer switch so it was weird. The beds were comfortable.”

“Nice place to stay for the location and price. We're definitely coming back.Be aware that if you do have a large vehicle, the parking may be a little tight.Walkability: Only .5mi away from the mission and shopping area. The only downfall is its an uphill walk, both ways. If my 76-year-young dad can do it, you can too.”

HANG ON...Did I book a room at the SANDS INN & SUITES or the RITZ CARLTON?As you might imagine given that this review is posted on the Google Maps page for the Sands Inn & Suites, I didn't book a room at the Ritz Carlton. My stay at the Sands was impeccable. I wouldn't trade my experience here for anything in the world...except maybe A MILLION DOLLARS. Other than that, I WOULDN'T TRADE IT FOR ANYTHING.”
“I had the pleasure of staying at the Lamplighter Inn & Suites in San Luis Obispo. I had family in town visiting about two weeks ago and needed to obtain a hotel room for myself to stay in. The property was very nice, clean, and service was impeccable! Great location as well, near downtown SLO. Front staff at check in was knowledgeable and fast with check in. I would definitely recommend this place to family and friends!Rooms: Nicely appointed and very cleanWalkability: Near Downtown SLO”
“We had the loveliest two nights at the Lodge and would heartily recommend it to anyone. The rooms were so comfortable we almost didn't want to leave, and coffee/ muffins in the morning were a wonderful surprise and perfect for the drives were took throughout our stay. Plus those Aesop bath products!
We also received on-point recommendations for meals from the front desk that turned into some of the best meals we had on our trip. This is a lovely property-- pls keep doing what you do; we will be back!”
