I chose the Hampton Inn SLO for its convenience and proximity to basketball tourney my son was playing in and the many food options nearby. Unfortunately, my stay was anything but enjoyable....clientele speaking.I checked in late on Tuesday night and my originally requested room on the Hilton app (top floor, away from freeway) was not ready. Instead, I was placed on the 3rd floor, which happened to be where another team (not my son's) was staying. They were up until at least 1130-midnight, slamming doors and making plenty of noise, as teen boys do.I spoke with the daytime desk manager, Lily, the next morning about my experience the night before, who was very apologetic and comped my room. I asked if I could have my originally requested room and she happily did.As luck would not be in my favor, yet again, I drew the 'loud next door neighbor straw', who was up until 2am with TV blaring, hacking. Then woke up at 6am hacking and TV back on.Needless to say, worst experience at a Hampton...from the clientele standpoint. I decided to check out 2 days early. The desk manager, Lily, was SUPER friendly, apologized, and hoped that I had a better experience elsewhere. She is a gem at this location and should be commended to her professionalism and customer service. Well done, and thanks for trying to make the most of my experience.

Thankful that I was able to get a room when the power went out at another hotel. Front desk was very nice and sympathetic to the situation and late night.

Location I thought was in a nice area close to places to eat. The hotel itself was nice overall and a very nice restaurant/bar area to hang out in.My issue was a I booked a specific room due to the location at the hotel amd recieved a notification the day of my stay they moved me. I didn't care until I seen where they moved me which was in an area that was basically a hallway closet style area away from where I wanted to be. I asked the front desk why the change and they didn't have any reason. Normally this would not be an issue but in this case the room was very old and the ac did not work. Since it had been a long day of driving I just stayed in it.Probably wouldn't stay here again while I work in the area often but if you get a better room at the hotel is not that bad location wise.

Called 3 weeks before to book rooms. Got to the hotel and my rooms were Not Available! Finally got me some rooms but it wasn’t the ones we booked. Waste of money!! Hotel still charged me the same price even though the rooms were not comparable. Got to the rooms and NONE of the keys were working. The keys stopped working every day. Had to go down and get the keys fixed and no one was at the desk for over 15 minutes! Rooms are out dated and Ethel people at the front desk are lost.

General manager non-responsive. Charge for two nights and I only stayed one. I made five attempts starting with the front desk, then the manager, then finally got the general manager's name who's the only one that can solve this problem apparently. On the last attempt I know for sure that he knew I was calling for the 5th time. I asked the gentleman at the front desk to call me back after he spoke to Chris which he did. He assured me that he spoke to Chris live about my issue and gave him my cell phone number. I'm sure that Chris knew who I was prior to this. I just don't get it. I don't like canceling credit card charges but I will have to in this case, that is unless Hilton Honors customer service is responsive which I am sure they will be. This is a fine and regular Hampton Inn, but I just can't recommend a business where the GM behaves like this.

I visit the SLO area regularly and being a Hilton Gold Member we normally stay at Hilton properties. This was our first time at this property. We booked for one night , and were so pleased with the room and the service we got from staff, we extended our stay another night. So why the one star review? 100% due to my experience with hotel managers one week later. When we left on Mon(9/11/23) we realized we ended up leaving a gold ring in the bathroom. We were already 100 miles away in the afternoon but I called to see if anyone turned it in. I reached a man at the front desk who was nice enough to check with house keeping for me. I shared that we had been in room 403. After he put me on hold for a bit, he got back on the phone and confirmed they had it. I was so happy and asked if they would hold the ring until 9/17 when I would be back in town and I could come pick it up. The ring is only worth about $200, but it had sentimental value. He said yes and even took my name and phone number again. He told me to be sure and bring my ID and I could pick it up on 9/17. So on 9/17 when I showed up, I showed my ID to the young man at the desk and told him my story. He was very nice, but didn’t know anything about it. Another employee however said “oh yeah I remember something about a ring”. However when they checked lost and found it was not there. They searched the desk and still could not find it. They went and got a woman who appeared to be a manager of some sort. I told my story again and while she also knew nothing about the ring, the other employee showed her an email or communication of some sort that confirmed what I was saying. She told her it was logged as a claimed item and that I would be back on 9/17 to claim it. At this point I had been there for about 15 mins waiting. The woman could not find it and kept saying some one named Chris would be back at 2pm and he would have another key to an office she could not get into so they could check there. She was very frazzled and I assumed that was due do the hotel having no computers and possibly also that she had her child in her office. Turns out Chris was Christopher Peña the General Manager. When he arrived I had now been there for over a half hour and my frustration was mounting. He looked some more, and please keep in mind during this entire time they were talking about the situation and me like I was not even standing there. I had to keep interjecting and correcting them as to the chain of events. At the point their shuttle pulled up full of pilots getting ready to check in , it was clear the GM was done looking and he came out and loudly said “who is the individual having this issue “. He introduced himself and I again attempted to explain what happened and he more or less cut me off and said nothing more could be done and he would have to “launch an investigation “. At that point I was really upset and attempted to voice that frustration. I did not use foul language, or raise my voice, but was still promptly cut off by Mr. Peña and again told nothing more could be done. I asked for his bosses name and he refused at first to give it to me and said as far as I was concerned he was the only boss. He finally gave me the name Michael Ashley but refused to provide any contact information. He actually said “my boss has no phone”. Again I have now been there for close to 40 minutes being given the run around on the location of my ring that 5 days ago they told me they had. I asked him if I needed to file a police report as it sounded like it just disappeared. He said you can if you want, but then he said it is a big hotel and “who knows where the young man I spoke to put it and he won’t be back until Monday. Then when I asked if I could come back when he was there to see if they could find where this logged item was , Mr. Peña told me I was no longer welcome on their property. He then proceed to lean in and in a low voice told me to “leave the property and I was no longer welcome back “. I have filed a formal complaint with Hilton.

Also, thank you to Florencia to always keeps Room clean and neat. Staff You're always ensure that I meet all my needs. I know it's a bit pricey, but to compromise with the comfort and happy when you spend time there. It's worth to pay!

Van driver was so friendly, he is awesome! 5 star service!!I wanted to do laundry, but my 3 coins got stuck and I wasnt able to use the dryer. It didnt give my money back. Also the bathroom door in my room was…weird. Why is it so heavy? It was kind of annoying. Not convenient when I’m running around trying to get ready in the morning. I had to prop open the door with another piece of furniture.Other than that, I liked everything about this hotel.

Wow! I've never felt more welcomed by a hotel staff before. Lady at the front desk was so kind when we arrived late at night! Rooms are clean and neat. The free buffet breakfast was served and was great! The lady servicing breakfast was really sweet and helpful. Mountainous views from our room. Highly recommend staying here! Exceeded my expectations!
