Friendly staff, and despite not having what I was looking for on the shelf, they found it in the back for me. It's a great place to shop.

Farm supply in San Luis Obispo is the flagship. if I have any extra time I love going through the store because of the atmosphere and the friendly service. They're very helpful as the selection in the stores pretty big. I love walking around and looking for a good value. The only problem is every time I go in there I usually leave with something. :-))

Christian in Plumbing. Really stuck by my side on trouble shooting my irrigation timer. It was a long day for me swapping parts and trying to get it done right but he really spent a lot of time trying to run threw what could be wrong in the end got me what I needed and helped me fix my problem. Felt like he actually wanted to help and was not just selling things. In the end we found the correct parts we needed and things are working great ?

Today I had a very positive experience at the Farm Supply. They were kind enough to special order a shirt for me. I used a digital coupon to pay for a portion of it. There were some computer issues ringing it up, but with accounting chipping in and the help of two front employees my problem was solved. Everyone was really nice helpful and friendly...

This is not only a good place to stop by for plants & supplies but for a smaller super-local Farmers Market that takes place in the parking lot. For those interested in grabbing some eats while grabbing some plants, eats for other creatures, or supplies while browsing an FM, here are the details. [Tuesday, 2:30-5:00 - Months of operation: Year round San Luis Obispo Farm Supply Farmers Market MY RATING= 8/10 Size: Tiny-Small (~5-15 vendors...varies seasonally) Physical space: width of vendor corridor: good; inter-vendor spacing: Excellent Subjective Air Quality/ Fresh air circulation: good Parking: Excellent Market on-site/cost: None, (but close to Trader Joe as well as, multiple shops/markets a few blocks away) Market Ready to eat/drink/baked vendors: 0/0/1 ] Over the years going here for either the FM and/or FSC, it is always interesting to browse their excellent plant selection. They do have a good to an excellent selection of succulents and houseplants as well as ample options for home gardeners. One would think that Farm supply stores and Tractor supply stores would be similar, but there are not. After one of my outings shopping for succulents, I found that most of the succulents at the nearby Tractor supply store were ill or even totally dead. Sadly, about one hundred dead plants sat right by the front entrance. It was a rather horrific waste and can serve as a measure of how much care goes into running a store. On that measure, FSC seems to be stellar among Farm supply stores and even compares well against other venues that have plants [hardware stores or nurseries], it is one of the best. The staff here, when it comes to plants, are helpful when you need it, and not intrusive when you are just looking/ browsing. As one can tell from my many succulent pictures, I did find a nice selection. Moreover, I did take pics of some of the ID tabs for helpful information on ID, care, and whatnot. For those who do not know, many succulents need little water and some are quite easy to propagate. Some species can be propagated with just one fleshy healthy leaf. While there are more than 3,000 different types in existence, about three dozen different types can represent the main types in one's garden. Some can even be happy indoors in sunny windows, or outdoors in part shade. Those who do not have quite a green thumb, are generally forgiving. The major sins with succulents are overwatering and a lack of sun. Other excuses to stop by here include the newer SLO Public Market down the street, a gym, and other shopping venues. This area is more of a local thing since it is a bit off the beaten path. Tank Farm Road which this in on, also serves as a gateway to Edna Valley, the back of the downtown SLO area, the airport area, and even some lesser-known hiking areas, as well as shopping [e.g. Marigold Plaza]. I do not see much value in quite a few of the negative reviews since they seem to be specifically targeted at single visits and not an overall impression. I have been here dozens of times [despite my lack of check-ins, since they also overlap with my Farmers Market visits] and almost always have a pleasant experience. Thanks Farm Supply Company!
