Overall, Schwab has worked for our families investing. Over the past 6 or so years that we've been here I've done mostly "Schwab Intelligent Portfolio" and ESA accounts. I've seen 4 different guys in that time so nobody seems to last very long here, but can't say I'm surprised. They're always nice and don't try to push me into something, but I'm monitoring things pretty much on my own so not a whole lot I expect from them.

I've tried twice now to meet with someone in this office to discuss transferring several hundred thousand dollars into accounts with them. They ask a lot of questions, say someone will get back to me, and no one does. One guy, a VP spent 8 minutes asking a lot of questions before saying, "I'm not taking new clients. I'm trying to get rid of some." The person he said he was passing my number along to, saying he was a " good guy" and would take care of me, never called back. A second phone call to main phone line was similar--lots of questions, someone will call, no one has. Many of my friends and family speak highly of Schwab, but not of them is dealing with this office. They don't want my accounts, fine to hell with them!

I have had my investments with Charles Schwab for 40 years. They are consistent and offer excellent customer service. Their fees are some of the lowest in the industry. Their online Schwab Bank offers every service I have needed. The SLO office has a very helpful staff. You can not find a better to put your money. The thing I like the most, is that a salesperson never calls with a hot tip.

Difficulty in getting an IRS form where money was removed from an IRA account and then immediately redeposited. The check Schwab sent never opened. They said the tax form evidencing this would be sent in May after tax season!? My Schwab advisor said this is the way they do business. In view of their lax decision I am modifying my review of Schwab to ONE star as a warning to others.
