Mike did a great job in making sure everything was all set up. All went smoothly, car was spotless. Couldn't have gone any better as far as I was concerned. Brought the vehicle back about an hour or so earlier than rented for and got a charge adjustment in our favor! Imagine that. We'd rent from Mike at Budget again.

We arrived on time for our cargo van reservation. There were no employees in the office, just a couple tourists who'd been waiting over 20 minutes for their car rental. They said the sole employee was helping a prior customer with a truck rental, she'd had to call someone for instructions on how to process his paperwork, and then she left the office. After 15 minutes I called Budget and they said to keep waiting for the employee to return. Nearly half an hour after our reservation time, she still hadn't show up. We decided to leave and offered the tourists a ride back to the airport so they could try another company.

Awful. No idea what they are doing. Zero truck safety guidelines or knowledge. I fixed the truck that wouldn’t start, so I could do the work I needed to. If you can’t help people, close the door and stay closed.

My partner (who lives in another state) rented a car from budget in the San Francisco area and then driven it home to SLO. I made the mistake of leaving a bag under the seat which had my passport, various paperwork, and $300 in cash which I had carefully budgeted since I have been out of work for 3 weeks in between leaving my old job and beginning my new one. I got home and realized I had left the bag under the seat on the passenger side of the vehicle and promptly called to make sure someone grabbed it so I could come by and get it. I had a feeling the cash would be gone when I received the bag with my passport in it back and I was not wrong unfortunately. There were 5 people at the front desk when I went to pick up my bag. I checked it right there before I left to confirm that the cash was actually gone. I mentioned to the five people at the front desk that I had had $300 in cash in the bag that was now gone. Of course nobody could help me or offered any information on what could've happened to the money. I told him that I understand that there is no receipt or evidence that I had left $300 in my bag that was now missing but that it was extremely disappointing that somebody had taken my money out of my belongings being that I am a single mother who works very hard and had budgeted that money to help me get through these weeks before starting my new job. Whoever took the money quite literally took food out of my child's mouth. I unfortunately wouldn't expect any less as it seems to be a common occurrence that someone would feel so comfortable taking cash for which they know there would be no paper trail. But from my standpoint, someone who would never steal money out of somebody else's bag, it is extremely disappointing. I will not rent from them again on principal. And if I was them I would feel uncomfortable knowing I was working among a thief or someone who feels so comfortable stealing so much money from someone else. I hope the thief feels bad when they spend my hard earned cash and I want them to know that they took away from a 2.5 year old girl who was looking forward to having some fun with her mom this week I had off with that cash that they took. I guess you needed it more than me. Whoever you are. Karma is real and you must already be down in your luck if you're in a position taking money from strangers.

This is where the national Budget phone line will send you to return your car but DO NOT GO HERE. There will not be anyone there, it is a waste of time. Your reservation may tell you to return the car to a different broad st location but that is wrong too! Go to the airport. If you love wild goose chases rent from this company!!

I like it when I don't have to wait even when I come early or late. The staff is very professional and works with you on your preferences.

Supposed to pick up at 11. Showed up at 11 to a sign that said we'll be back in 15 minutes. 15 minutes later they showed up and was very expedient about getting the paperwork done. Schedule extra time if you would like to use this location

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would not hesitate. We made reservations for a 17” moving truck WEEKS ago, received the confirmation and everything. Today, the pick-up and MOVING day, we called them in the morning and this lady left me on hold for 15 minutes and never returned. My husband and I decided to have faith and drive from Paso Robles to San Luis Obispo to pick it up and she told us that UPS has been using their trucks for weeks. She told us they had called us yesterday, ONE DAY before us picking it up and leaving the state of California, and we didn’t answer. No voice mail or anything either. If they haven’t have trucks for weeks we should have gotten an email and a call WEEKS ago. What the actual heck. Make sure you triple check before picking it up and even with verifying, I would NOT trust these people.

Leti was working solo at both pick up and drop off. She handled everything efficiently and was friendly the whole time. At drop off, she was handling two other customers in front of me but handled it all very efficiently and again maintained professionalism and friendliness . I felt bad that she was by herself and that the office was super tiny but the end product was good and she did a great job with what she had to work with. Booked it through Priceline via Kayak and like I said the end product was great.

This is a review for the Budget Car Rental at 4554 Broad, across from the San Luis Obispo Airport. So, I don't write bad reviews. I may have written one or two in my lifetime, but overall, I keep my reviews positive. This experience, however, cannot go untold. I usually give people the benefit of the doubt. Everyone has bad days, I get it. But this, this was unnecessarily bad service, bad attitude, bad, bad bad. I needed to take my son to the doctor in Santa Barbara. Too far for my little electric Leaf. I live in Morro Bay. So, the decision was made to rent a car. I looked up car rates, and Budget looked good. I made the reservation over the internet, received a confirmation email. Great! I went back online the next day to check on my reservation, and a pop-up said, "Finish your reservation now! Don't let that car get away!" Okay, I thought...I've paid, I have my reservation number, I'll just call over there and make sure everything is good. Because this is a really important appointment. Budget: "Budget how may I help you?" Me: "Oh, hi!" I explained it all to her. Budget Lady: "I'm not really at the office right now, so I can't check that for you." Me: "Well, okay. I'll call back tomorrow when you're in and maybe you can check it then?" "Budget Lady: "No. I won't be able to see it until the very day you arrive. I'm sure it will be fine. We will probably have a car for you." Me inside my head: "Well that sounds strange...all those probably's and I'm sure's. Me: "You see, I really need this car. It's for a very important appointment." Budget Lady: "I'm sure it will be fine. We'll see you Monday. Good-bye." I called the next day. No answer. Hmm. No answer. Ok. Called Friday, no answer. Fast forward to Monday. I walked into the lobby. The Budget Lady I had spoken with is there, behind the desk. "Hi, you have a reservation?" "Yes I do!" "Last Name?" "G**z," I said with a smile. "Identification?" I handed Budget Lady my I.D. "Credit Card?" I handed her my debit card, knowing that I have rented cars in the past with a debit card. They take out a deposit. No problem! Budget Lady looks at me: "No credit card?" Me: "No, I don't own a credit card." Budget Lady: "I can't rent to you." Me: "Wait. What? This is a very important appointment. We HAVE to get to Santa Barbara by 3 o'clock." Budget Lady: "Nothing I can do." Me: "I'll just have to go rent somewhere else, then," wondering how I was going to get my son there on time. Budget Lady: "No, they won't rent to you either. You can't rent a car anywhere without a credit card. Bye." I drove across the street to the airport, got in line at Enterprise (which I should have gone to first) and they got me a car with no reservation, no credit card, and I was on my way within half and hour. Oh, and the Enterprise Guy was so friendly, he smiled, he talked in full sentences, he was wonderful! I kept thanking him, and I'm sure he thought I was a bit tetched. That lady needs to find another job, because I don't think she is very happy with her current employ. She does not represent the company well, and I would not rent a Budget car if it were the last car on the planet, in a zombie apocalypse. The end. P.S. We got to the appointment on time.
