What's the point of the HOA being this controlling if the HOA can't even bother to pick up their phone once?

The Hoa is a great place. They put on a Halloween Parade and carnival every year for the community.

This is got to be the worst customer service in an HOA that I have ever seen in my 32 years as a realtor. HOA docs were paid for over a week ago. We have not received any docs yet. And when you call them no one answers the phones or returns your phone calls. I am very frustrated especially since it is a small HOA and should not be that difficult to get docs out. Seems to me no one actually works at this HOA!

I am absolutely baffled at some of these reviews that state that the homeowners association are so picky about trees, landscaping, etc. I unfortunately have a completely different experience. I am a homeowner that takes impeccable care of my front yard and have called several times to report homes in my neighborhood who have things stored on their porch dead lawns full of weeds about 3 feet tall and they do nothing about it Yet it was interesting to me that about six years ago I had dog food delivered to my front porch, but I was on vacation and came home to a Nasty note from the homeowners association about not storing boxes on my porch. Lol. I feel like the reason you pay for an HOA even though it isn't that much per year you still belong to an association and they are still supposed to enforce codes at least about keeping yards maintained. It really isn't fair to those of us who take pride in our yards and keep them well-maintained to only live next-door to people who could care less about curb appeal and bring down the value of the neighborhood! Where are these citation hungry homeowner association employees that are so eager to give citations for the smallest of offenses. They certainly haven't driven down my street. If they're working on a citation quota, they make a lot of money if they took a gander at what is going on over here! Let's not worry about paint Color or landscape choices of particular plants! Why don't we start with mowing lawns! And cleaning garbage off of front the front porch of some of these homes?! And try returning calls - you all make a salary and you are never there and don't call people back?! What kind of operation is going on over there?!

How do we get rid of them? What is their purpose for stealing our money?

While no community is perfect, you can tell the community is window bar free, chain link fencing free, and no cars parked on lawns. You can tell the community tries to keep things clean and neat.

I submitted paint colors for approval and was denied the choice I picked for the trim even though the same trim color is on another house around the corner. There's a house on my street that have multiple families living there and they have a total of 11 cars which take up every open spot and 2 of the vehicles are passenger cargo vans which are hazardous to try to see around when they're parked right up against your driveway. 2 of their cars have been sitting in the driveway for years, inoperable. The hoa doesn't do anything about them but they do go after my 90 year old neighbor for her car being in her driveway without current registration. SHE DOESN'T DRIVE BECAUSE SHE'S 90. Make it make sense, slzhoa. Good job hounding a 90 year old lady that's lived in the village for 60 plus years while not addressing the hazardous conditions others are causing.

The association is against homeowners making improvements to their own homes. Will need approval to fix/rebuild/improve fences, driveways, lawns, paint, windows and even roofs. During that approval process, they can leave you up in limbo for weeks and even months. What they are quick on is sending you fines when they see a bogus violation. They will drive through and tell you that your car needs to be registered when it’s sitting in your own driveway, your grass is too long, or you need window shutters when the home hasn’t had them in 40 years. Buyers beware if you don’t want to deal with a dictatorship of an HOA. They are not here to help increase property value, but are here to play “community favorites” and keep home styles in the 1950s.

We just saw a nice home for sale yesterday and after seeing all of the issues w/the HOA stuck in the 1940s we are moving on. We also saw people parking cars in the park, not in parking spaces literally IN THE PARK. G'luck attracting quality homeowners that will care for their property.
