We needed to replace the top boards of a small deck. We hired Palm because they had an opening the following week to get our deck completed, they were not the cheapest, just quickest. I realized early on that Palm Construction is a franchise and not all Palms are created equal- so with that in mind, the reviews could be from 1 of 5 Palm Construction companies in the Bay Area. With ours, they seem to have a lot of Project Managers (PM), and they contract with a Foreman and his workers do the jobs. We were told we would have a Project Coordinator and the Foreman daily.
The work began, with the Foreman showing up on day one with materials and not again until they needed to haul away debris. The workers, who did not speak very much English (it was just not possible to communicate any issues), but they showed up, cleaned up, and did a nice job. In the midst of the project we found some issues of uneven boards, it looked like a wave on the topside of the deck (they forgot shims under a few boards, which most were fixed). The challenge was communicating with 1 of 3 project managers not the foreman to discuss any issues that came up. We should have had one person and their direct number to deal with any and all issues. I had expressed that I did not like the workers just entering our property without knocking on our front door to let us know they were here to work (something they should implement).
Then the final day, the final bill, so we met with one of the PM's and we were way over charged for additional hours of labor that were in their original scope of work. We had verbally agreed to pay for 2 additional hours due to our mistakes, but I have never paid laborers $300/hour! Then I was asked to fill out a survey in front of them. That didn't seem right. I don't like being pressured to get it done and to give positive review only.
Overall, the deck looks nice, it was pricey, and overwhelming to have so many project managers, a foreman, workers and additional administrators to deal with, throughout the process.

I had Palm Construction build a paver driveway, and the experience was fantastic. Ben and his crew were respectful and very professional. They completed the job in a timely manner, and the fair price made it even better. I appreciated how clean they kept the worksite, and Ben’s communication was great, answering all my questions without hesitation. The craftsmanship is evident in every detail. I couldn't have asked for a smoother, more stress-free process.

I recently hired Palm Construction to build a deck for my backyard, and I couldn't be more pleased with the result. Palm Construction replaced the old siding with new, durable materials that completely transformed the look of our house. Gil also installed new windows and a front door that enhanced the curb appeal even more. The house now looks fresh and modern, and we’ve received so many compliments from neighbors.
