I got stuck using them because I waited to long to schedule moving. The salesperson was obnoxious and pushy. The only good part about my experience were the movers who picked up my stuff. They were efficient and helpful but they were also from a different company that zippy shell contracted so that might explain it. First they charged me extra for stairs. I knew there would be a standard $75 charge for stairs but they never said the charge was per flight of stairs. There were 3 different occasions I spoke to them BEFORE the moving day and they asked me if there were stairs and what floor I was on. Not one time did they tell me what the total additional charge would be, which apparently was $75 per flight (it also doesn't say that on the form the movers give you).Then I had an issue where the place I was supposed to have my things delivered to fell through. I called Zippy shell and they said no problem you can keep it in storage and pay the monthly storage fee. We won't charge you the second half of your payment until you call to have you things delivered. I'm thinking perfect this will give me more time. We'll today I get a notification from my bank that the second charge had gone through. I called them and they said actually if you don't call to have it delivered within 31 days after it was picked up, it's in the original agreement. Even if that's true, the person I spoke to said they WOULDN'T charge me until I had my items delivered, meaning they could've held the payment until then regardless of what the agreement said. So either the person who told me that didn't know what he was doing/talking about or they didn't keep their word. Either way, these people disorganized in their communication and it's costing me more money than I had anticipated. There wasn't even an email notification that I would be charged. Thankfully the money was there but I needed it for other things.

The worst experience ever. The driver hit a tree with the container while backing into the driveway. The container had taped up hole and dents all over it. The door was held shut with a strap that they screwed to the outside of the container. Then we open the door and boom! A container/cage in the container. As if the container wasn't small enough already. There is 8 to 10" of wasted space all the way around it. The container read pack rat on the outside. Strange.

They should have 0 stars.My biggest regret of 2022 was choosing Zippy Shell. I was lied to and mislead on multiple occasions. Rather than evaluate and modify the sales process to provide better predictability on needed space, its a thumb in the wind estimate. In my case that meant scrambling to find another moving truck and storage for items that were left behind when our house was being sold the next day. In addition, the third party moving service they contracted with in Chicago nearly totaled my neighbors new SUV, did not wrap furniture as they were supposed to if supplies were provided, and I had a couple of items damaged.It gets better (or I should say worse). I spoke to a claims representative who encouraged me to include the additional cost of getting a uhaul, storing my items, having a family member ups ship a couple of smaller boxes and getting a ubox to ship the rest of our stuff. That was in August. I was patient for the 90 days they said it could take to evaluate my claim. The ninety days came and went. It took 5 calls and multiple emails to actually have them issue a response to my claim. Then, when the response came, I was given no consideration for $2,000+ in additional expenses that were incurred. I feel so deceived by this company. If it was my responsibility to determine how many containers I needed, why say put it in the claim and then take OVER your SLA to respond? All the other companies I had quote for this move had me provide a detailed inventory list to predict the amount of space needed. In addition, the response to the claim states that on both sides of the local moving companies confirmed nothing more could fit in. That's simply false. The lead mover in Portland commented that the Chicago crew could have arranged the items differently to fit everything given the tonnage of the load. It was very gracious of him, considering he was told not to comment on the movers in Chicago. Just sounds like Zippy Shell was trying to get themselves out of this one.Don't less the bless your heart pleasantness of the sales and customer service team fool you. I could have contracted with a full service company and not listed a finger packing my own items for the same price that it cost for me to use Zippy Shell.

1. Go with Pods. It's just 100x better. The money that you save is not worth using this company.It's been 3 weeks and I still don't have my stuff, we are already outside of the time window of promised delivery. Put it in on 10/28, still don't have it today on 11/18.Communication practices of the company are terrible. They are vague about everything and never give real answers. Any time I called to check the arrival time of my unit the answer was basically, we don't know. How is that possible? Do you not hve a tracking system? Do you have any idea where TF the units are at any given time?We got an email that our unit was in, but again super vague about when it will be delivered, just some time in the future.Also, a cherry on top is there is an added / hidden fuel cost that no one mentions until it is tacked on to the tail end of your bill.The customer service reps are nice, but they give no helpful information about timing. Would not use them again.

I moved my furniture from NYC to California.I choos zippy shell based on the price and promising drama free moving.it didn't happen.their staff to pick up my stuff are not professional, they are 500 $ to my bill for the fuel subsidies and in the beginning they told me there is no hidden fee or any other changes apply.even the fuel price didn't change they just want to get the most out of your pocket.don't work with them

after I sign the contract with them , they start to charge for different things like , fuel subsidies, Insurance and ...they are not punctual.If you want to move , I strongly recommend to choose try another company.

If you are looking for tons of headache and unexpected things, this company is the best choice. their sales representative doesn't even response after you sign the contact. they cancel my move on the day they supposed to pick up my stuff, and their only excuse is we said it in our contract, and they reschedule it for another day. they have too many hidden fees they don't tell you in the beginning no matter how many times you ask is there any other charges they said no but you will see a lot. I don't recommend them at all. Worse moving experience ever
