Super convenient location for me! Classes are a fair price, the cheapest so far for me. They have a lot of equipment available for people. The only con is street parking. Might get lucky or not finding close parking. I had to park 2 blocks away when I went for the first time. I do look forward going back when I don't feel like going far for my usual yoga classes.

A friend and I swung by here in search of a new yoga home. We both have yoga experience (she's been a teacher before), but we were both looking for a really accessible class to ease back into our practice after injuries. Everyone was nice and the class was fine, but we both noticed there were no actual adjustments or alternatives offered for people with disabilities, injuries, or larger body sizes, even though this was supposed to be one of their accessible classes. I also couldn't find any practitioners of size among their instructors, which never feels like a good sign. It's great when the most accessible version of a pose is offered as the norm and deeper variations offered to those who want them, but personally I'm totally fine with a more mid-range version of a pose with accessibility adjustments/alternatives offered. This was more like, "Feel free to adjust if this is too difficult," which isn't really very useful in addition to the deficit framing. It felt a little othering and like this was not really the place for us (or many other people who want to try yoga and could really benefit from it). It felt like language of accessibility was being used without enough actual thought and accommodation of how people who need it would experience the class. The search continues!

Love this community spot for yoga! I tried their new student special deal which gives you one week of free yoga and had a pleasant time checking out their different class & instructors. Everyone was so welcoming and it was easy to park in the street while I took a class. Most classes are ~1hr & 15 min and i highly suggest arriving 10 min early before class so you can settle in and gather your supplies. They have lots of yoga equipment (blocks, straps, blankets) you can borrow too! Love this local gem, and looking forward to dropping by to future classes on the days I work from home.

So appreciative to go to a gentle in person yoga local class in neighborhood San Leandro to destress!

I was initially unsure, but have grown to love many teachers here. Lauren Bannister is the best, but most I've tried are good too. I've especially fallen in love with Broderick's classes via zoom.

I am a young woman and university student. Currently taking time off from class and work to focus on my health and wellbeing. Yoga @S1 in San Leandro has...changed my life. I was a dancer as a child and throughout my tween, teenage years, suffered a knee injury sophomore year of high school that derailed my track towards being a swimmer, track & field/cross country assistant coach, and worst of all...I could not dance. Liza has really helped me with my physical therapy and journey to find the right yoga studio. Square One cares about their clients/students but also looks after each and everyone! I love your Sunday Class Liza, you are so kind and considerate of each person in the room. I applaud you, and thank you from the bottom of my heart for helping me get up and on my feet again after so much...oh so much pain. Looking forward to more classes and maybe a yoga retreat in the future (currently, I am a broke university student just tryin' to get by lol) Namaste Alexa

This yoga studio (San Leandro location) used to be a healing place for me. I used to go to this yoga studio religiously a few times a week then a bunch of teachers left in just one month period. One of the teachers told me he/she wasn't happy with the management. Anyhow I still went to couple more sessions but the new teachers never met my expectations. There was this particular teacher who rarely showed the poses herself but spent a lot of time on talking. "This is your body blah blah..." I really felt like I was wasting my time and money. Today I wanted to give SOY another try and was online to book a class then I saw the drop-in rate is $25!?! I've never seen a drop-in rate that high anywhere. The highest drop-in rate I've ever paid at any yoga studio is $21 in Kona island where beautiful plumeria peeking through the window, some exotic birds chirping in the background, and a 70 yr old guru demonstrating how to do a head stand.

Very friendly welcoming place but classes not really meant for seniors. A good clue is that they do not have senior discounts like another local place. Even so, it might have been worth it if the classes met my needs. However there was virtually no work on balancing and each of the classes I tried were very hard on the knees. They involved a lot of moving from cat, cow, plank downward dog. Majority of postures were in prone position and very little standing, stretching or balancing. The classes are very popular so they tend to be crowded - perhaps they avoid balancing because not everyone who needed to could get wall support. Overall friendly place, but expensive and not ideal for seniors.

Excited to hear they picked up new Instructor Michelle Garcia! Great instructor and also a featured speaker on the Simple Habit App for meditation. Kind of a local rock star at a local yoga studio!

Other than a single class in college that totally turned me off to yoga, I took my first yoga class ever here (almost 15 years later) and was really anxious beforehand. Saturday morning Slow Flow with Neha was perfect and completely alleviated my anxiety. I will absolutely be back. Thank you Square One for holding space for people of all levels and body types!

Not sure why this place has such good reviews. Out of all the instructors I took a class from I found only one that wasn't cocky and was actually helpful. I was new to yoga and was hoping for guidance, but I didn't get any. More like they wanted to get the class over with. My point: If you're new to yoga and want to be treated like you're an idiot or beneath the teacher that got their yoga certificate in 1 hr than definitely go here.

This studio is part of a community and not just another exercise class in a corporate gym. For those who don't like when teachers "bring politics into the class" - guess what - politics affect us all. I appreciate when people honestly address them instead of pretending they don't exist. It's good to feel uncomfortable sometimes and question what's going on. I like my yoga with a side of meaning and connection to the world around us. Otherwise, what's the point of any of this? I'd love to see this San Leandro location hold more wellness workshops and series that go beyond asana (yoga poses) and are dedicated to creating a safe space for neighbors, especially those in marginalized communities.

Teachers bring politics into the class. It’s not like I disagree with their general viewpoints it just ruins the mood. Postures always involve pillows and blankets. Won’t make you break a sweat. Not for everyone!

my new yoga studio. large and comfy. great Sunday am sessions. she adds a bit of chanting and meditation to a very slow and mindful practice. parking is a bit of a challenge in san Leandro. but its worth the hassles
