The location is convenient for me but it's hard to like this place with so many problems. I'm often unable to find a cart or basket in the front of this store and it's nearly impossible to enter/exit without someone (usually sketchy) outside trying to hit you up for money. They also recently installed a bunch of security gates but then stopped using them, but of course the cost is being passed along to customers. There are guards but they stand around playing on their phones while the employees at the self checkout just joke around and ignore everything. The final straw for me was a recent purchase of some butter that upon opening I discovered was moldy (I didn't even know butter could get moldy...) and then I realized that it had expired over 3 months ago. I alerted the manager and she admitted that they had a bunch of expired butter on the shelf that had to be pulled after my complaint.

I had another bad experience at this Safeway. On Christmas day it was posted that the store was open until 5 PM. The security stopped letting people in around four and many people formed outside to come in after that and they were treated very poorly plus the store had nothing stocked, it's a dangerous spot if you ask me

Safeway is expensive. Get the app. It will save you so much money. Be sure to check out the 'rewards' section before every purchase! My last grocery visit i noticed a new sale incentive on the meat. A concept similar to Lucky's 5 for $25. Safeway has 4 for $19.99 (specially marked items). I look forward to the new deals. I highly recommend their deli. They have delicious sandwiches and pasta salads. Their chicken strips are also huge. Side note: My favorite chicken from the deli is salt & vinegar. If you don't want to cook during the holidays they do offer pre made meals at what I consider a reasonable price. This location does have a Starbucks. Unfortunately they close early. Around 5 or 6pm. They share a lot with other businesses so parking can be hit or miss. I find evening parking on Friday's and Saturday's to be the most challenging.

This isn't that good of a Safeway.With security as tight as it is, there's one way to get in, which is to the left of the store. We had to duck in for some things for the week on a Sunday evening, but there was only one person working the register. It took forever, and there was a lot of shady activity when we were waiting to get through.Don't bother.

This Safeway on Washington in San Leandro has made dramatic changes in their security. We understand and accept that. However, once a customer gets past the security to get in, the shopping experience becomes a nightmare. There was 1 checker at 10 AM and an impossibly long line. The self check lines aren't much better, the monitor staff yells at customers and gives bad directions and the scanners don't operate smoothly. IDK if this is still a union store -- we like to support union worker businesses or locally owned and operated stores. Therefore, this has been our first choice store for shopping because we want to support union workers. Safeway has reduced the workforce so dramatically that the store is simply not where we want to spend our money or time, regardless of who works there.It is worth noting that we can drive to Castro Valley or Alameda and have a completely different experience. Safeway, shame on you for running your worst operations in dense urban areas and offering a better experience at your suburban stores! In the past decade, you were ordered to pay more than $2 million for charging more than your advertised prices, misrepresenting product weight and claiming that your produce was locally grown when it wasn't. This year you have been hit with a lawsuit over fraudulent BOGO offers. You were once a great chain. Not any more! Our family can take their grocery money elsewhere.

They are selling sauasges 2 weeks past the expiration date. When I went to go exchange them, I waited at the customer service area for an hour, and no one ever showed up.This may still be better than the Bancroft Safeway, but not by much.

Rude employees! After telling a clerk I was there for seafood, I was sent to the meat counter only to find out it was closed. Then I went up front and was told I had missed the sale. I can understand that, however, a clerk rudely said THAT WAS YESTERDAY! He NEVER told me what the current price was, he just walked away smirking! I am Disabled!!! As I was on my way out, I could hear the clerks laughing and making comments about me missing the sale...... My experience was horrible to say the least!!!

The delivery service from Safeway is nothing like Amazon or Whole Foods. It is the worst delivery service I have had the experience to deal with. I made an order 2 days ago and the driver claimed that no one was here. I was here waiting for the delivery which I PAID for. So now it is 2 days later and Safeway still has my money and has yet to deliver my order. I used Chat to make a complaint and called Customer Service twice and still no order. Another thing they do is send orders without telling you that an item is out of stock or missing. They are holding me hostage because they have the money for my order. If i cancel the order it will take them 5 days to refund my money. I wish there was a Minus Star!!

Customer service is nothing like it use to be. Sale items are out of stock or not out on display yet. Had an occasion when I went early so sale item I was looking for would not have run out. Meat item was not on display so I asked an employee about the item. His reply was that the item will be put out when they get to it. Horrible customer service!

Shopping at Safeway was a decent experience overall. The store had a wide variety of products, making it convenient to find everything on my shopping list. The prices were reasonable, and there were often promotions and discounts available. However, the store layout could be improved for better organization, as it was sometimes difficult to locate specific items. The checkout process was generally efficient, although there were occasional long lines during peak hours. While Safeway provides a convenient shopping option, some enhancements to store layout and checkout efficiency would greatly improve the overall experience.

It's been years since the restrooms were available for customers. As a member of the community who shops here very often I need a place to take my kid and although it's only happened a few times am sure the need for working and open restrooms for customers is important for your patrons.

I ordered lady fingers via door dash from this store, but instead they delivered to me 3 packages of wafers.... Really Safeway? I'm a diabetic myself and they substituted my order with sugary wafers because they run out of lady fingers? BS! I paid $34 to doordash for 2 cans of fruit and 3 packages of lady fingers, and I ended with a $12 order at the front door. Who er who came with the substitution idea, either doordash or Safeway should first ask. Now stupid doordash credited me $8.... Stay away from doordash and this Safeway. So irresponsible!

Safeway bought 4 crabs a little shopping This was on Friday Saturday Hi pulled the grabs out you gotta prepare for dinner clean them sat down with a friend Correct the crab As I was tasting it I looked over to my She looks strange I look strange back at her crab sucked it was the worst crab I ever had in my entire life they said freshly could I think they were frozen and last year's catch it was gross I threw all 4 of them in the garbage can I should have taken him back but I was so upset and mad I probably would unlock So We ended up going to in N out Burger thank you Safeway You don't care What the public thinks just move merchandise I was sick for 2 days If they're selling bad produce or fish because it sat up too long The manager needs a good talking to by his superiors
