*NOTE* PCL has recently downsized and moved to 8887 Empire Grade in Santa Cruz, CA. Over the years, I have reached out to representatives from PCL to inquire about their custom ear mold process. The reps have always been quick to respond and a pleasure to deal with. If you gather a small group of customers, you can arrange for a rep to come out to your location. The rep will take a custom impression of your ear on site and mail out your custom ear pieces relatively quickly. I have purchased several custom molded ear tips, sleep plugs and a two-way radio earpiece. The quality of their products is outstanding. *Custom ear tip - The custom ear tips are rubbery, fairly pliable and fit in the ear like a glove. After about a week of slight ear fatigue and getting used to it, I forget it is in my ear. There is one downside to the custom ear tips. Skin oil and sweat will harden the ear tip over time. The best length of time I have gotten before hardening is about 1 1/2 years. Although it hardens, the ear tip operates without any issues and it still fits the way it should. It just isn't as comfortable as it was when I first received it. At $90 with tax and shipping, this can be costly if you plan to replace it when this occurs. Also, due to the company downsizing, the process to make the ear tips is now about two weeks. * Sleep plugs - The sleep plugs are awesome. I am a day sleeper and trying to find generic ear plugs to drown out sound can be difficult. Because these are custom fit to my ears, they are comfortable to wear while laying on a pillow. They also do a spectacular job out drowning out sounds. They have for sure improved the quality of my sleep. Ask to see their color chart, because they can pretty much make them in just about any color. In my opinion, it is worth spending the money to use something that fits my ears the way they're supposed to.
