My two very anxious dogs just spent a week at Ortega Animal Care Center for the first time. The staff was super helpful and kind, and made my dogs feel right at home. When I went to pick them up the staff told me all about their stay, gave me printed pictures, and the dogs were happy and healthy, and I know this may sound silly, but they didn’t smell bad and seem dirty like my dogs have been when picking them up from boarding at other places in the past. We will definitely be using this fantastic place in the future.

Wendy at Ortega Animal Care is AMAZING!!! She is soooo caring and compassionate and treats your furry family members like her own! She takes her time getting to know both you and your pet and is so trustworthy and sweet . She's helped me TREMENDOUSLY through a difficult time with my baby kitty of only 6 years. I bet she's saying a prayer for her , she's that kind. THANK YOU WENDY!!! (YOU need a raise!)

We have our dog groomed here. Gianna Robinson is hands down the best groomer. Kind, patient and pays attention to detail. We have a senior dog who is deaf and very nervous. She is great with him and even trims his toe nails. Easy to make a reservation, and nice clean facility

I made an appointment for my dog for this upcoming Saturday @ 1 pm. Yesterday, I received a call from one of the employees saying if I wanted something sooner which I did not agree to or reply to. A few minutes ago they called me saying my appointment is for tomorrow. I had to call them and tell them I did not make a reservation for tomorrow but I had a reservation on Saturday @1. I believe whoever made my appointment switched my appointments. Pretty disappointed because I was looking for a groomer since I recently moved here.

It's hard to recommend a veterinary care place when you don't know much about veterinary care. You don't know what you don't know. And especially when it's an emergency, you're even more prone to "taking advice from the experts" even if you're not sure it's advice or another up charge. So that's the reason for my four stars and not five. Let me explain. We brought our pup in because he had been sick for a few days. They immediately checked him out (we came in on a referral from San Juan Animal Hospital on a Saturday). The vet tech was friendly enough but she obviously wasn't communicating with the actual veterinarian, because we were getting mixed messages about what to do. Half star off for that. Then we were brought a list of items that could be done or tests that could be run, but no explanation on which of them were absolutely crucial and which of them were just maybes or any real explanation of why you might want to do certain ones over certain other ones. Another half star off there. It looked like an intestinal blockage from x-rays so we decided to stick with the basics and no more, otherwise we would be paying $1000 instead of $500. It just didn't feel all that transparent as at no point did anyone ever explain in-depth what might or might not be going on with our pup, beyond that he had an obvious intestinal blockage and might need emergency surgery if he didn't get it out doing his business in the next 24-48 hours. The vet came in and talked to us briefly but once she was gone it seemed like she was gone, and when you're in a kind of high stress situation you don't know what you don't know, and you tend to do whatever the experts tell you. Fortunately I wasn't by myself, and at least two heads can sometimes come up with a better solution, but our two heads also told us that it felt like everything wasn't explained that well. And even when we checked out and paid the bill, it was again obvious the vet tech and the veterinarian had not been communicating well, and we called out the discrepancies and asked for clarity, and the tech had to go back and talk to the vet. It would have been a lot easier and felt a lot better if the vet could have just talked to us directly about everything, including all the possible tests/charges. I would go back here in an emergency but I won't go there for regular checkups and such, I'll stick with my friends at SJC Animal Hospital). Any, everything turned out ok and we and our pup all survived.

My dogs boarded at Ortega Animal Care last week. The staff's attentiveness despite the late hour and Dr. Brehmer's expertise and promptness saved my dog's life. Almost as soon as it happened, the night staff notified Dr. Brehmer of my dog's worrisome behavior. Dr. Brehmer hurried back to the clinic and immediately identified that Odin's stomach had flipped -- a common and deadly condition in larger, barrel chested breeds. On our go ahead, he then rushed Odin to Healing Hearts Emergency Care where a complex surgery performed by Dr. Berschauer was performed. Because of Ortega Animal Care's timeliness, Odin's tissues remained in good health and the surgery was a success (dogs can die within an hour of experiencing GDV). Tears of joy! The surgeon could not commend our vet and his team enough. My pup is expected to make a full recovery. I am so grateful for the team of heroes who saved his life. Thank you Ortega Animal Care!

Ortega Animal Care Center is full of amazing people! They performed surgery on her Doberman puppy and they are our primary vets. We tried multiple places, but we were most satisfied by this vet.

Dropped my dogs off to be groomed recently and had a conversation with the groomer and front desk staff about my little dog having an ear infection on one side and asked for the one-time antibiotic drop to be put in her ear since she would not let me put the recurring drops in her ears that I got from the OACC vet several months ago with her last ear infection. When I picked my dog up, they said they were out of the one-time antibiotic, as requested, but they were happy to charge me $75 for the vet to confirm she had an ear infection. REALLY? Gee, thanks!!Last time my dog had the diarrhea, my bill was $400.Time to find a less expensive vet!

Ortega Animal Care Center was not our regular vet. We were advised to bring our chronically ill dog here to be groomed because a vet would need to be present in case anything went wrong. Well, on the day of the appointment our dog became very sick. Due to his advanced age, chronic illness and his new medical issue we had to make the difficult decision to end his suffering. Even though this was the first time we had ever been to Ortega, the staff was wonderful, kind and compassionate. Javier was especially kind as he walked us through what the process would entail. Our boy passed on peacefully, quickly and painlessly. We are devastated but the staff here made an unbearably painful experience just a little better.

a few years back, I brought my curly hair dogs in to get groomed. The groom came out took one look at my dogs and said they were matted. he didn't even touch them. He said he needed to shave them down. I told him no, that they were not matted and he could not shave them down. He asked the gal behind the desk to check and make sure that he was right, and she said no that they were not married. So I told him no he could not shave them down and so I left with my dogs. Come to find out he lied on the report and said that he had refused to groom my dogs because they were so matted. I would not use this groomer if you have a curly haired dog.
