Really irritating that we don’t get home mail service and are required to use a PO Box. To make things worse they don’t post what hours the lobby is open and seem to lock it arbitrarily. Sometimes it will be open Saturday evening and Sunday and sometimes locked. Same goes for weeknights. Really hard to know whether I need to rush over or not since they are so inconsistent. Also the counter hours are ridiculously limited, they should at least be open late one day or on Saturday mornings.Edit: They explained to me that the doors are now locked at night due to vandalism. Apparently the postal service can’t just put up cameras and instead need to lock us out. I’ll edit the hours if I can.

The personnel went above and beyond to find my package. Always nice and attentive. I e only lived in SJB a short time but small town kindness is alive and well.

The staff is super helpful, and pleasant to work with. They know I'm gonna have a million packages every time I walk in and they're always happy to help!

I have heard bad things about this post office. sorry to say - they are true. Now, I have felt the PAIN. they just returned a package to the sender - that had all the right information on the address label. this is small town, no mail delivery to most homes, so we have to use p o boxes. these postal workers are either very LAZY, or too D*** to get the deliveries right. there can't be more than 50 different streets. the culture at this location is to look for reasons not to make a delivery.

The list of excuses from this post office is endless. "The mail is not ready because we're swamped" "I'm the only one here" "I'm only doing packages too big for the box" "Come back at 3" and on and on. Expect to get your mail 1 day past when it "arrives" at the post office. This is the worst run post office I've ever experienced. Not to mention them scolding you because computers ignore you putting your PO box in the 4 digit zip extension and this post office ignoring that reality. They claim if you use 301 The Alameda #xxxx for your address all problems will be solved. Not true and they know it. Getting a RealID was a nightmare for my wife mainly because two government agencies were involved: USPS and DMV. Proof that more government is not the solution, it's the problem. Getting your plates here is also not allowed by DMW due to forwarding restrictions, so good luck getting those plates. There are two things currently broken with San Juan Bautista: the post office and the stench of raw sewage near 1st street (apparently this issue is going strong for the last 10 years). Here's to hoping that one day one of these problems will be fixed.

I don't understand how they receive any positive reviews. THEY DON'T DELIVER THE MAIL. I sent mail to a street address only to be told that they only deliver to P.O.. Boxes. Now I can't find the mail. It's not at the post office, it was never sent back and they never answer the phone. Is it possible to go lower than one star?

I have no idea how these people still have a job.. Extremely rude always. Sassing people and always have a adduitide especially the desk clerks. They have one job and it's to deliver mail. I've been living in the same house for 10 years you figure they know where to drop off my mail nope. They always lose my packages

Never going to have any packages delivered by USPS again if I can help it, UPS and FedEx are much better options. Several times now the San Juan Bautista USPS has failed to deliver packages writing "too heavy" on the card. They are only open 9-4 weekdays, which means if you have a job with regular work hours like I do, you are screwed. The most recent package is 45 lbs, not delivered because it's "too heavy" while in the tracking system they wrote "mailbox is full". It's been 2 weeks and I still don't have the package. Went in last Saturday because the card said they were open Saturday morning, only to discover when I arrived that is a lie, they are not open on Saturday. Everything was closed and no people there. Frustrating! I will pay extra to get UPS to deliver to my door as expected and not hold my packages in a way I can never pick them up instead of actually delivering them to me (you know, the thing we pay them for?)

I don't usually like to leave reviews of any kind, but I have had two bad experiences at this post office and am hoping for some change here so here it goes: I had received notifications in the form of an email saying this post office had attempted to deliver my package twice. They then emailed me that they left a pink slip telling me I could pick my package up or schedule another delivery date. The email stated there was a slip but there was no such slip left. So I went ahead and drove down to the post office to get it. Immediately in speaking to the post master she was pretty abrasive, which I understand people can have their off days so I looked passed it. In trying to explain my issue, the post master went on to say she could not give me my package. I was baffled as to why I couldn't retrieve my own belongings. But alas, she continued to talk over me as I was trying to explain and understand the situation. Relatively speaking, it was a terrible experience for me. There was no need to be so unkind on her part, not once but twice. I have never been treated so poorly or unprofessionally before. Will not be returning to this office. I will gladly go out of my way to attain better professionalism and kindness.

They failed to pick up my outgoing mail a couple months ago, even though the flag was clearly up. I didn't worry too much about it at the time (though I don't try to mail from my mailbox anymore). After the latest problem, however, I'm upset. I had something that needed to be mailed ASAP, and only about 35 miles from here. I went by the post office Friday afternoon (Well before the posted cut off time) and dropped it in the blue collection box right outside the P.O. door. They didn't ship it out Friday like they should have. Then they didn't even ship it Saturday! It didn't leave the San Juan bautista P.O. until midday Monday... almost 72 hours after it should have left the facility. There is no excuse for this except a poorly managed P.O. with lazy uncaring workers. I am not comfortable mailing anything from my own town anymore.

Baffled as to the complaints here. I've found the folks at the post office to be consistently friendly and helpful. Keep in mind there is no direct delivery of mail and these folks have to sort mail into the boxes of roughly 2000 residents every single day except Sunday. While they sort things they also have to take care of customers who come in. By the way, I've had notifications that things have arrived, they've checked, and there is no package. Then I check back later and it's been delivered by the afternoon truck. Delivery notices are not a guarantee your package is there.
