It was subpar tbh. So I came here for dental extractions for my dog which in hindsight I regret coming here because it was too extraction friendly and I didn't realize there was a new animal dental specialist at Arroyo until it was too late. Much more conservative doctor who has more techniques up his tool belt to save teeth. The only tooth I was really worried about was his canine but his incisors didn't have to go and I wish I had known ahead of time that they wouldn't have been able to extract the dead teeth that was also a concern. I had provided detailed x-rays before hand so they should have told me this in advance that it was too close to a nerve for Dr. Brons to feel comfortable operating on. I also felt very pressured into agreeing to his incisor extractions over the phone and the doctor said they had to go and made me feel like I was crazy for wanting to make sure due diligence was done to stay conservative with removal. It was giving money hungry in hindsight but I was young and naive and didn't get more medical opinions until it was too late. Even Dr Riggs at Animal Dental Clinic had told me that I could choose what to do with those since his canine was the most concerning teeth to her but I thought every doctor new best until I got a new specialist opinion this year regarding what happened.
Another thing I found interesting is that the x-rays from Charlie's usual vet clinic, Alpine Animal Hospital, were praised by two dental specialists in Animal Dental Clinic and Arroyo for being well done and excellently documented. But the new x rays taken at West Valley we're deemed bad x-rays by the dental specialist at Arroyo and they came without label documentation. Not as meticulous as I would have liked for such a serious procedure.
And the last thing that really rubbed me the wrong way and really made me feel like Charlie and I were just a walking dollar sign to this clinic was that Dr. Brons charged us another $60 for another visit because she didn't want to answer my questions regarding extra steps to take to help care for his dental hygiene in the future and my concerns about his jaw bone receding following the extractions. The last time Charlie had his dental extractions I felt very well taken care of by his primary Dr. Jenny Hsu and was never made to feel like my questions were a bother and she gladly answered all my questions over text message without extra charges. So I feel like that's the example West Valley should take moving forward with dealing with surgical patients.
The little lumps he had were removed though without a hitch and the extractions healed over ok. Not a fan of the scar suture technique though it didn't heal as nicely as the other scars he's gotten in the past from other lump removals.

We found our pet care center! Our dog came here after age 6, the attention to detail and care is striking. We came here for dental procedure and it was very well done. Very helpful with coordinating with insurance. He is very healthy and recovered quickly.

This review is a follow-up to Ella Sun's review below. It details the trauma that my dog now has after his appointment at West Valley Pet Clinic (WVPC). Unfortunately our reviews are continually being flagged for removal on Yelp, even though we are exercising our right to free speech to recount the truth of what happened. My dog was a multiple-time customer of this business. I am speaking on the effect that "treatment" at this clinic had on my dog, which I am personally witnessing. The impact of healthcare extends beyond what happens in the clinic; it is important that the customer's (my dog's) experience is positive, which it clearly was not:
Took our dog to our usual vet 3 days after the WVPC appointment for a check-in. Our dog was desperately climbing underneath ours and the receptionist's legs while whimpering to avoid going into the exam room. He has never done this before. This prompted this receptionist to say "he has trauma" and the veterinarian assistant to say "you poor thing." Our vet 1) again confirmed no ear infection (which Aleisha Nesset here at WVPC attempted to "diagnose") and 2) noted an isolated, scabbed-over wound deep inside our dog's ear (which confirms my dog was wounded AND is not how an ear infection presents 3 days later with no treatment). Again, these findings are in DIRECT contradiction to WVPC's "assessment," and this follow-up appointment at a different clinic was vital to confirming WVPC's misdiagnosis/gaslighting. WVPC's immediate attempt to "rewrite the narrative" rather than apologize at the scene as well as flagging reviews detailing what happened during and in the aftermath of the appointment is all the more telling. I urge you, WVPC, to please put your energy into providing better care for your customers and better training for your staff rather than into image damage-control after treating our dog poorly. This kind of behavior really makes me wonder how many other fair 1-2 star reviews have been similarly removed.

0 stars. This clinic caused injury to my dog's ear--multiple bruises, abrasions, and swelling in his ear canal--then lied and refused to take responsibility.
Several nights ago, we discovered a foxtail embedded in our golden retriever's paw. Unable to remove it ourselves, we contacted several vet clinics the next morning. West Valley Pet Clinic was the only facility with a same-day appointment. The appointment started as usual, with Dr. Brons conducting a general examination of my dog. She specifically mentioned his ears were "clear" and "smelled good." This will be relevant later. Dr. Brons and her assistant then brought my dog to the operation room for foxtail probing, which I did not witness. Things seemed fine until my dog was brought back to me.
To start, Dr. Brons stated that she couldn't find the foxtail. My dog then began shaking his head vigorously, revealing bruising and bleeding in his left ear. The most significant injury was a wound ~0.9 cm by 1.2 cm deep inside his ear. Even worse, I discovered that the foxtail probing had been conducted at the wrong spot. Dr. Brons refused to explain the cause of the bruises nor take responsibility for the ear injuries or procedure failure. She and her assistant exited the room and never showed up again.
Shortly after, the office manager informed me that the owner, Dr. Nesset, was en route to the clinic. While waiting, one receptionist dared to claim that we mentioned an ear infection as the reason for the visit. This obvious gaslighting is extremely inappropriate for a supposedly professional facility. There is no chance we mentioned ear infection given our dog did not have an ear infection, confirmed by this clinic's very own Dr. Brons.
Upon Dr. Nesset's arrival, she briefly examined my dog's ear and insisted, "Trust me, this is definitely an ear infection, the scratch was caused by your dog." I'll mention my dog is over 7yr and has never kicked or scratched himself to cause one, much less multiple, wounds on his ear. Dr. Nesset then attempted to use a cotton swab on my dog's bleeding ear, prompting me to shout, "Do NOT touch!" Dr. Nesset accused me of screaming at her and subsequently called the police. While waiting, we listened to the recording of my dog's appointment together (FYI visits at this clinic are recorded since they use AI to generate medical records). Dr. Brons can be heard in the recording saying exactly what I mentioned previously-- our dog's ears were "clear" and "smelled good." I pointed this out to Dr. Nesset, who only nodded and did not verbally respond. I informed Dr. Nesset that her clinic cannot evade accountability by fabricating stories to hide their abuse of my dog. Dr. Nesset then yelled back, claiming her reaction was justified because she was provoked. It is concerning to me that Dr. Nesset believes dishonesty can be "provoked."
The second part of the recording, taken in the operation room, was filled with chaotic background noise of staff chatting and laughing. We could scarcely identify any information pertinent to the foxtail probing. The unprofessional conduct displayed during the procedure was evident. It is apparent that my dog's physical and emotional well-being were not a priority, as staff used whatever methods to forcefully restrain him.
We sent our dog to an emergency clinic the next day, they treated the wounds in his ear with a one-time dose of an anti-inflammatory medication. There was no mention of an ear infection. Due to severe swelling and pain of my dog's paw, a second foxtail probing could not be conducted without sedation.
This clinic may have its moments of providing fine care but they exhibited such a massive lapse in empathy, professionalism, and honesty during this situation that we are utterly disgusted. I urge you PLEASE DO NOT bring your pets to this clini

Reposting because it appears my review was reported for removal. Shame on you WVPC. My dog was a multiple-time customer of this business. I am speaking on the effect that treatment by this business had on my dog, which I am personally witnessing. The impact of healthcare extends beyond what happens in the clinic--it is important that the lasting impression on the customer (my dog) is positive, which it was not, as detailed below. Follow-up to Ella Sun's review (She is a prior paying customer of this clinic. Seems like WVPC may have reported her profile. Is this clinic literally suppressing free speech about their own wrongdoings??? See attached pictures.) Took our dog to our usual vet 3 days after the WVPC appointment for a check-in. Our dog was quite literally desperately climbing underneath ours and the receptionist's legs while whimpering to avoid going into the exam room. He has never done this before. This prompted this receptionist to say "he has trauma" and the veterinarian assistant to say "you poor thing." Our vet 1) again confirmed no ear infection (which Aleisha Nesset attempted to "diagnose") and 2) noted an isolated, scabbed-over wound deep inside our dog's ear (which confirms my dog was wounded AND is not how an ear infection presents 3 days later with no treatment). Again, these findings are in DIRECT contradiction to WVPC's "assessment," and this follow-up appointment at a different clinic was vital to confirming WVPC's misdiagnosis/gaslighting. Even one situation like this is unacceptable. WVPC's immediate attempt to "rewrite the narrative" rather than apologize at the scene as well as flagging reviews detailing the aftermath of their "care" is all the more telling.

They offer top tier service with the best prices! My cat is a new patient at this clinic and I am very happy with their service. The lab technician and the vet were very patient in answering my (many) questions and they were very thorough! Since our cat is a new patient, they spent a lot of time reviewing his history and informing us about his condition. They were also very honest (didn't try to upsell us) and gentle with our cat. The prices are also pretty good! Before coming here, I called several other clinics and this was the absolute cheapest / most affordable. I also feel like this clinic had the best service because a few other clinics were kind of mean about informational calls and were very dismissive if you aren't a patient with them.

I’m not from the area and just got a puppy a few weeks ago. Had a first visit with Dr. Brons and was very impressed. The front desk and everyone was so nice and welcoming. I think the copious good reviews speak for themselves!

The short version? The people at West Valley Pet Clinic are a rare combination of skilled, efficient, and most importantly: compassionate. After an especially bad visit with a former vet, our dog's vet-anxiety worsened and we were nervous about lasting effects... so grateful we found West Valley Pet Clinic when we did! Our German Shepherd was in and out for a urinalysis and some shots. Dr. Nasset is great! Vet tech, Gwen, is just as awesome. The vibe was really good all around. :) All humans and dogs had minimal stress. Thank you guys so much!!! Now for the long version: Our generally healthy female GSD (we'll call her M) was having minor incontinence issues so we took her to the nearby vet M had been to once before. I'll spare details (for this review anyway lol) but 2 hours later she left traumatized, with her shots incomplete, and with none of the tests we went there for done. They even used a muzzle, but said they just couldn't do it after 2 hours of bringing her back and forth from the back room to back with us again. She was so stressed out. :( I could see her fighting to be a good girl the whole time, even though she was terrified. I'm not fully blaming anyone, let's just say we were incompatible... We thought it best to look for a new vet. None of the vets in the area had openings for 2+weeks. We made an appt with West Valley Pet Clinic, who had openings the next day, and drove almost a full hour further than our last vet (VCA Lewelling) to our first appt. We arrived on time for our appt and were greeted by a receptionist quickly. M's anxiety was high once realizing we were at a vet's office, but honestly calmed down a lot once a vet tech (Gwen) met us a few minutes later in the lobby to take her weight and ask a few questions before bringing us back. You can't imagine how happy we were to see M's tail wagging again. During the exam, M still was nervous but clearly felt at ease with both Gwen and Dr Nesset, who who treated every step of the process with care. Dr Nesset was amazing by the way!! Transparent, not condescending, comfortable and knowledgable in her line of work. Our dog trusted her right away too, which meant so much to us. We had all our questions answered and we were all feeling good about things. They separated M from us only once for about 15-20 minutes and then was back out. In that short time they got a sterile urine sample, blood sample, and completed all her shots!!! The dog that our last vet would need a muzzle, 2 anxiety medicines, and probably another 2 hours for. At no point did we feel taken advantage of or rushed. We got our results 2 days after our appointment via email and a phonecall from the Dr. She wanted to make sure we understood everything and also our options. What started out as the only place we could get a last min appt, ended as M's new regular vet! Not to mention West Valley Pet Clinic charged us LESS MONEY THAN VCA!!! We would've paid more for M to feel comfortable, but we didn't have to. We WILL be driving the extra hour to make future appts. Thank you so much for making our baby feel comfortable and safe.

Huge fan. I've been to a number of vets, and I don't have any real complaints about them, it's just the WVPC has that added touch of service that pushes them over the top. They're always wonderful with my notoriously squirmy girl dog and rave about my boy which makes him radiate with pride. It's worth the long drive for us.

I want to recommend West Valley Pet to every pet owner who is looking for quality care for their pets. I have been taking my dogs here for 20 years now, and have always received quality, attentive service that is targeted to my pets needs. The doctors are accurate in their diagnosis, and genuinely care about my animals. I would never take them anywhere else.
