We hadn't been to Japantown in San Jose before, but we regularly visit Japantown in San Francisco. Since we were going to be in San Jose anyway, we planned on walking through the neighborhood and I'm glad we did. It's just a few blocks, from what we saw and most of the stores and restaurants were closed on Sunday, but stumbling across Petite Galleria made it worthwhile. One of those nooks with barely more than a shadowbox-sized space, it reminded me of one - a tiny opening to a treasure trove of cuteness! Leeonnista was there to help show us items when we tried to point to the trinkets we were curious about and it was a bit comedic trying to direct her up and down, left and right - trying to communicate which particular item had caught our eyes, while dodging distractions. All the pieces were made by local artists and we ended up picking out two sketches and three pairs of earrings.

I happened to be walking through japantown and they were OPEN! They had a lovely array of holiday cards on display for reasonable prices. When they didn't have more of the card I wanted, she was so sweet & gave me a chocolate instead! So thoughtful. This shop is OPEN, but I think the best thing to do is browse their website then order the things you like for pick up.

This is the first time I’ve ever bought a dress and worn it out of the store. It was that cute. It also helped that two random people who wandered into the store while I was trying it out complimented me on how flattering it was.

Be sure to call before going & make sure someone is truly at the store. I was so excited to go, looked up the store hours & everything. Left the house specifically to go there & when I got there it was closed. Unfortunately I won't be able to go back before I leave CA to go back home.

Really cute store, filled with locally made art, jewelry and other items. Picked up a pair of Californian made earrings that were a great price. Will definitely be going back.
