If you are looking for a tree nursery with a diverse selection of LARGE trees, look no further. This is a non profit business, so your purchase is actually a donation. I actually have been trying to come here for some time 1) LOCATION: This place is located right near the airport. So you have trees flying over you which is somewhat of a nuisance if you are trying to talk to someone and are hard of hearing! The trees are nicely organized and you can even down load the availability sheet before you come. They update the sheet pretty often, so you get a good idea of what's available before you go. 2) TREES & PRICE: Quality: Hands down quality for the price. Everything looked pretty healthy. I didn't see any diseased trees, and there were no dry or dead/ weeping trees. They are organized and there are so many!! Usually when you go to a nursery, you tend to see a lot of plants and just a handful of trees. Not only are there a ton of trees (see the list), they are massive compared to trees in other nursery's. Price: WOW!! Such great prices. They ask for a donation of 80-100 per tree, which is a lot less than some of the other nursery trees we have picked up. Typically you pay anywhere between $170-350 for a tree similar to the on ones in the tree lot. Not only are they great prices the trees are around 9' tall for some of the bigger ones. Same price. The only bummer is that it is only open to the public Thur-Friday, between 8-12. It makes it hard to get in there with such a small window.

Our City Forest is a great source of native and drought-tolerant plants, complete with recommendations about how big they get, how much sun and water they need, and which plants are good for attracting pollinators. The wait-list is long, but they also have a "lawn-buster" program. If you're interested in replacing your lawn with drought tolerant plants, you can either get advice and do the job yourself, or get on the list for their service. This is one of those wonderful places where your purchase also supports the organization. The whole operation runs on recycled soil and mulch, recycled water, recycled plant pots (they brush out and sterilize them; bring back your empties), with donated plants (often overstock from nurseries), volunteers and Americorps staff. The organization has a goal of one million trees for one million people. If you look, you may see trees they've planted all around Santa Clara County.

We had a great experience volunteering today at Our City Forest! My babysitter fell through last minute and I was stuck bringing my almost-4-year-old along with me and my 7-year-old Cub Scout. It all worked out though and even my little one got to help out! One of my students met us there and together we all pulled weeds, moved plants, cleaned empty planters, and tied trees to their stakes. Fantastic family volunteering opportunity, especially during Covid times, since it's outdoors and easy to stay distanced. We'll definitely be back.

First visit. Longish lines, short hours, but they seem dedicated to native and adapted low water species. I'll definitely go back and would recommend to others.

Very welcoming staff and my little dog loved sniffing around and meeting other dogs. Friendly atmosphere and helpful volunteers. For those with negative comments just remember...this nursery is dependent on volunteers and donations to exist. If you have concerns or suggestions on how to improve it, then I would suggest you volunteer and put your ideas to good use. This great place is only as good as the people who choose to help out. Keep up the good work. Can't wait for the tree I purchased to be planted in front of my house by the wonderful volunteers! !!

After visiting this place, I am definitely going to sign up to volunteer. Tons of dead trees, tipped over trees, and volunteers sitting at the entrance just looking at their phones. I straightened more tipped over pots while there than what it looks like the volunteers do. Definitely will update.
