Brilliant technical work. I had 2 suit jackets that needed sleeves shortened+ Nancy showed me & took care of the additional details to the cut that so they would hang better on my frame .
The material of these jackets was challenging: referred to as "BeyondSoft fabric. A blend of TENCEL™ Modal, Polyester and Spandex.... the flexibility of scuba fabric but with a luxurious, soft-as-suede touch"

Of note: do call 1 day prior to expected pick up to ensure it's ready. Mine wasn't when I called, so I picked it up 1 day later (my fail safe plan allowed for it!)
To their credit, they mentioned that it was good practice to call in to check on progress just in case.
I will absolutely return and highly recommend!

Got some silk pants altered here. I wasn’t in a rush for them so it was finished a day later than agreed on but I’m ok with that she offered to finish it for me same day but a later time but I opted for next day. I am happy with the finished product. Love love

Nancy's (really Kim) did a great job of re-hemming my dress this year.Five years ago, Kim did a fabulous job of taking silk fabric and making two dresses and sheer silk fabric to make jackets for those dresses. I wore one to my son's wedding. Kim's quite a fabulous seamstress. She made those dresses by me just telling her what I wanted. I did not supply a pattern. I highly recommend her.

I went in on a Monday to bring in a silk shirt with a stain I needed removed along with some black denim jeans that needed to be dry cleaned. I was told they would be ready by Friday. I went in to pick up my items and the shirt looked the same as I had dropped off, but ironed. The lady proceeded and told me she couldn't get the stain off and gave me this look I picked up like was lying to my face. I proceeded to go to target after and bought a Tide to-go pen to try to remove the stain myself and sure enough, I was able to remove the stain myself. Don't waste your money here, they will try to fool you if you look young. Take your business elsewhere.

This review is for denim alterations only. I've taken multiple of my daughters jeans here and they are perfect every time. She's curvy with a small waist. The waistline always looks very clean and the darts added to the back of the waist look like you bought the pants that way. Highly recommend. We've moved to the other side of town and I'll be driving over to drop off more pants this week.

I'm a mismatched human. Long torso, shorter legs. Broad shoulders, shorter forearms. As a result some things just don't fit me right off the rack. Take pants for example, a 30 inch inseam is too short and a 32 inch inseam is too long. Sometimes I get lucky and find a 31, but I usually need alterations. I used to go to a place on Forest across the road from Westfield Valley Fair, but it stopped working for me so I found Nancy's Alterations & Cleaners, a spot conveniently located close to home.Walking in to Nancy's the first thing you notice is clothes everywhere. I have no idea how they can locate anything or do the work as fast as they do, but it seems to all turn out okay, at least all of my experiences have been good since I started using them three years ago.They are very no-nonsense. Walk in the door, wait to be greeted, tell them what you need. They will direct you to a room to put on the garment. Open the curtain when you are ready and the tailor will join you and quickly pin the item then ask you if that fit, length, etc... is okay. You affirm then they mark it, leave, closing the curtain behind them. Once dressed you come out and they tell you when it will be ready, typically the next day or following day. They also offer same-day service for a fee.In addition to alterations they do dry cleaning. I'm not sure if they do it on premise because I don't see the equipment, but the quality is good and the price is right so no complaints here. I don't do a lot of dry cleaning any more, I try very hard to avoid buying materials I can't maintain at home.Nancy's is an inexpensive, efficient tailor and cleaner. I recommend them.

I’m a regular here, but I’m beginning to not like this place. First, they are overpriced. I am OK with the overpricing if they do a good job. But no, lately they haven’t.The pants I had altered ripped at the seams as soon as I wore them. When I brought them back, Nancy had the audacity to ask me if I had them repaired there when I had just picked up the pants from her a few days earlier. Kim chimed in to say she never saw me before. She is so rude and needs a lot of training in customer service. I am done with this place. There are other cleaners in the area. I’m taking my business elsewhere and so should you.

Per my previous review: Nancy's Alterations lost my new dress and refused to compensate me while their "lawyer" friend Margaret, who hangs out at the location, interfered to support and justify their unethical dealings. Update: I finally found the same dress online, purchased it (again) and received it 2 weeks ago. I found a place called ALTERATIONS BY IONA that is 5 minutes from my home ( 840 Willow st. ,S.J.) and...what can i say? VIVA LA DIFFERENZA!!!! Iona is a professional. Her location has plenty of parking and it's clean and organized. She takes her work seriously and is a very straightforward kind of person. Moral of the story: You have to kiss a few frogs before you find your prince....or a good seamstress.

Nancy was great! Found her through a neighbor's recommendation. They were right, she's super talented, even with tricky alteration challenges and she's reasonably priced to boot! She worked on a total of 3 dresses for me. All needed to be hemmed, and two needed trickier fixes. In haste after the dresses arrived, I only tried on for fit and didn't pay attention to anything else. At her shop, I noticed that two dresses were crooked, one at the neckline and one on the bottom portion of the dress. Nancy fixed both issues. Two dresses were layered, and one had crochet at the neckline (and that's the one that had the crooked neckline - ugh!) Anyway, picked up all 3 dresses, which she did in less than a week, and all look great! Would highly recommend her to anyone!

This is an update since my last ureview of Nancy's Alterations. After twice going to pick up my dress and it not being found, this afternoon i tried again. At first they said they still couldn't find it and then they changed their story and claimed i had already picked it up. They actually looked me in the eyes and lied! They both "remembered" when i came and picked it up. Kim said that i am old and forget things. I may be old but i am not senile. They are such accomplished liars that i was beginning to think that i came and picked it up....except i am just out of bed after a 2 week bout with Covid. During the argument, a woman calling herself Margaret and claiming she is an attorney came out of the dressing room to defend them. Margaret knew they were lying but it was to her best interests to help them....they have been doing her alterations for years and probably at a special price. If she really is a lawyer, she should be disbarred. I kept insisting that they give me my dress or compensate me for what i paid to purchase it. I was very angry because i am morbidly obese and it's so hard to buy suitable clothes. I was so happy to find such a nice dress....(sigh). My only recourse is small claims court and I am sure that i would win the case. Ubfortunately, my time is more valuable than the cost of the dress. So all i feel like doing is warning others to avoid this business.

I got my jacket sleeves shortened ($35), shirt sleeves shortened ($15), and pants hemmed ($15). Nancy was helpful and prompt, work was done on time, and everything looked good. Prices were on par or slightly lower than other tailors that I checked. Minus one star for the grumpy cashier/assistant (seamstress?). I nearly walked out while she took measurements and didn't appear to know what she was doing. Also rude with the checkout. Be sure you get Nancy (taller, glasses) to take your measurements. I would probably return here for future work.

I rarely get alterations but Nancy's Alterations & Cleaners made my experience quick and easy. When I brought my clothes in, they had me try them on and were helpful to make sure that the adjustments would be the right fit. They took about one week to finish the alterations for 3 articles of clothing. I was happy with the results and I would recommend this business if you're looking for a reliable place to alter your clothes. :-)
