This store is horrible, hasn't been remodeled for decades and a total embarrassment to the surrounding neighborhoods. I echo another that posted about a certain employee that would never get away with his filthy appearance at another supermarket! No words as to how they tolerate it. I wonder if because this store is not Willow Glen, Campbell etc that it is disregarded completely by corporate? Because of the clientele? Because that's bull**** We deserve a clean, modern store with employees that bathe, acknowledge your presence and don't chat on their phones while working. Shame on the corporate operation directors for allowing this filth and beyond. We call this store GL1, Ghetto Lucky's 1, Landess store is GL2. Perhaps if they would invest in the store's appearance, inside and out, employees and training maybe we would go, Calaveras Safeway is an island of normal, worth the drive! Unless you've forgotten a carrot or salt, forget it. Best thing that could happen is the whole center is torn down, filthy, homeless, drug deals, etc, all no big deal there. No rules no repercussions. Can you tell I'm disgusted? I seriously wish it wasn't this way. I swear this northeast San Jose area is a forgotten dump, thanks for nothing San Jose government

Yesterday I went to Lucky on Capitol Ave. for a few groceries including steak for our dinner. The meat was despicable, the store's not clean and the clerk who checked out my groceries was rude. I realize it's been a hard time for people working in essential businesses but it's been hard for everyone. This store should be cleaned up or remodeled, making it a better, safer shopping experience. To make matters worse, as I left the store one of several homeless people who hang out in the parking lot, was screaming obscenities at a woman who wasn't there. All I wanted to do was get out of there and get home. I've given this Lucky's another chance but only to be disappointed again. So it's onto Safeway in Milpitas, for a much nicer experience.

It's unfortunate I have to write this, because most of my experiences shopping here are positive. This is my primary grocery location and I usually appreciate the service that most of the employees offer. However, I'm writing in regards to an experience my elderly grandparents had this morning. As they were checking out, their cashier noticed my grandpa placing an item they no longer wanted to the side, and the cashier berated them for behaving "like other Vietnamese people". When my grandmother requested to speak to her manager, the cashier simply told my grandmother to call if she wants because the manager is not here. When she requested for the cashier's name, she refused to answer and said her name tag is out of view. Sadly I was not with my grandparents at that moment, and it's really tough to hear them being berated and disrespected, especially at a normally positive grocery store like Luckys. They have also had another negative experience with this specific employee before as well.

Worst Supermarket to shop during pandemic the employee don't follow distancing themselves and customers arent regulated and no once are sanitizing the carts and they had no hand sanitizer at all and when I ask the cashier all he can say to me is I should buy one. Really bad attitude not at appropriate respond this store should be fine.

With so many grocery store choices around my home, I did not frequent this one too often in the past until I found out they are a distributor of Promise Land Dairy. That company offers whole milk chocolate milk (instead of low fat), and named it Midnight Chocolate, I notice it is creamier than regular milk which is 3.5% fat. Last year, I went on a trip to Paris and had the creamiest hot chocolate at a cafe called Angelina. Since then, I have been making hot chocolate at home with chocolate bars, coco, and milk; I love my creations but it is a lot of work. I find that Midnight Chocolate is not as good as my homemade version but good enough for me to crave it. Driscolls berries is another supplier I like. It's not always great but I've had plenty of good experiences with their berries. Sometimes when the batch is so good, I would go back the next day to buy more.I also like their in house bread. I normally buy their garlic pull apart bread or their olive fougasse.Their checkout lines seem to be shorter than those of other grocery stores because they have less shoppers. That is a plus to me. I am thankful I can buy groceries so easily.

LEAVE EVERYONE WORKING IN PUBLIC ALONE: I have witnessed at Lucky's these awful people have been attacking and have abused yelled and argued with and treated very poorly the employees of Lucky's all during this pandemic. All of it is petty, ridiculous behavior demonstrated by actual functioning adults. Not one of these out of it check out self-centered people have taken into consideration the amount of risk and stress these people have to endure daily. Lucky Employees have done an honorable job. They have put themselves out there daily only to be meet by unbelievably rude people channeling there anxiety and depression surrounding shelter in place and social distancing. The next time you find yourself upset with your sad self, go take it out on an idiot republican or someone not wearing a mask if you need to fight about something. But most of all, please step it back calm the f--k down and start treating the employees of Lucky at least on Capitol Expressway store with dignity and respect. None of them are getting paid more to put up with the public's sudden psychotic rise in abusive behavior. WARNING WHEN THERE IS A VACCINE THEN EVERYONE CAN RETURN TO THE CUSTOMER SERVICE OLD DAYS BUT UNTIL THAT TIME COMES SHUT UP Behave yourself be kind and understanding be helpful and handy be grateful there is food on the shelves to purchase, and checkers to check you out. NOTHING ELSE IS REQUIRED FROM THESE PEOPLE UNTIL THERE IS A VACCINE! And from here on out if you have nothing nice to say keep it to yourself because right now nobody wants to hear your sad little stories up against the back drop of a very deadly virus. Everyone at Lucky's has been sweet amazing funny helpful and kind before and during this crisis. TELL THE CHECKERS THANK YOU FOR DOING THERE JOBS NOW THAT THEY ARE AT RISK FOR GETTING SICK AND MAYBE EVEN DYING. James Blackman Stanwich Road San Jose Ca. 95131

Below is a feedback I submitted to Lucky. I don't know if someone would read it but I'm reposting it here. I don't normally write reviews but felt compelled to do so this time. Keep in mind, this is during the Shelter In Place period. Dear Lucky management, I live nearby the 1641 N Capitol Ave, San Jose, CA 95132 Lucky store and occasionally visit there. I wish to bring up a concern over an incident that happened around 8am 04/24/2020. The intention of this feedback is to bring facts and awareness to Lucky management. Who were involved: - Colleen (produce manager) - Rick (store manager) What happened: Around 8am, I was in the grocery area. Since I had a long list of items, I grabbed 4 or 5 produce bags (the ones that came off the roll). I picked out some mangos and put them in one of the bags. As I surveyed around, I didn't see any more fruits before circling back to the vegetables section. I then came to a section with baked goods, just feets away from the grocery section. Since I had carrot cake on my list, I left my cart and looked but couldn't find any carrot cakes. At that moment, an employee by the name of Colleen came over to my shopping cart (I believe she did not have her face covering on), grabbed the unused produce bags and asked if I were going to use them. I said "yes I will, I'm not done shopping." She then informed me that the produce bags are only for produce and that many people waste produce bags. She said she needs to see that all the produce bags have items in them in a threatening tone. I took the cart a few feet back to the grocery area to continue looking for produce. At that moment, I realized that Colleen had physically touched the bags so I returned and said to her, "Since you've touched the bags, I will no longer use them." To my shock and amazement, she grabbed the remaining few produce bags and responded "Really, thank you very much for wasting these bags. You have a wonderful day." I said to her, "You didn't have to say that." She continued to say "You were not in the produce area so I came to take the bags from you. Thank you for wasting bags, you have a wonderful day." I informed her, due to the COVID-19 situation, I'm just trying to be careful and since a stranger physically touched the produce bags, I did not feel safe using them. But she did not allow me to make my point so I decided to move on. Before doing so, I asked for her name, to which she responded, "Colleen and I'm the manager here." 10 min later, I returned to the area looking for something else. I found Colleen discussing with the store manager and she promptly pointed at me and said, "That's him, behind you." Shocked, I asked if there is something either one of them wanted to talk to me about. The store manager, Rick and I stepped aside and I explained to him exactly everything detailed above. Rick was very understanding, pointing out that this is a tense time, it's early in the morning and emotions maybe flying. Rick generally did the right things by not escalating the situation. He even asked me if I found carrot cake, to which I responded no. He took me to the bakery area and asked the bakers to take out a small carrot cake from the back. Rick was a gentleman and exhibited great customer service. I wish Colleen behaved more like Rick. How I felt with the encounter with Colleen: - I did not feel welcomed - After being lectured by her, I felt like I was performing a criminal for wasting 5 produce bags, especially if I did not have them all filled with items. - I felt Colleen was unfriendly, accusational, presumptive, confrontational and the way she talked to me was belittling I try to be environmentally friendly and use re-usable bags as often as possible. So I actually applaud Colleen for proactively informing customers about plastic waste. But I don't understand why she felt compelled to inform me when I had 4 or 5 unused produce bags in my

I have been shopping at this location for 20 years. The employees are very helpful and the store is always clean. Tabitha is extremely helpful and she knows what she is doing. She always greets me and asks if I need any help. I wish the store could be better stocked but I understand with what's going on these days it is difficult to do. The staff is quick to work their loads and to get there product out for us. I want to thank all of you at this location for staying open. You all are just as important as any medical staff. You are the essential employees.

Who interviewed and hired the people working at this store. They have THE WORST customer service and the employees are extremely rude. Literally, eveyone working at this location needs to have an attitude adjustment.

I live within walking distance from here, but choose to drive to other supermarkets because of the prices and unfriendly workers. :( I really want to support this store but can't because of those reasons.

Convenient supermarket that is close to home. What is nice about it is that it is never very crowded. Compared to Safeway, however, it seems like Safeway has many more options.

Today is September 20 2019 and i promise not to come shop here anymore. The manager who is white can be nice when you are buying shopping but can be demeaning in other circumstances. Anyway , i don't drive and always on my bike. I just got back from Gardena's supermarket on capitol and mckee and rode all the way back and thought i should go into Luckys because last week the watermelons were two for $5. Anyway, i had a backpack and just want to go directly to check out the melons but it was no longer on sale so i left passing the front entrance. The manager, she said " can i help you with something" in a suspicious tone and her eyes were looking at my bag or shoulders. I guess management told her to make customer you are aware of them. She could have just give a glance at me. But that's just one point. This place and all Luckys are way over priced, especially the fruits and vegetables. I recommend you go to Mexican grocery stores like Food Maxx and Gardena's and Asian stores. Can you believe that Luckys sells onions for $1.99 a pound and the Asian store sells them for only 79 cents a pound. The same for most of the vegetables and fruits. I promise you i am not coming back to this store on Capitol Ave again. Food Maxx , Gardena's , and Ranch 99 does not treat you like a criminal and watch you when you carry a backpack. I choose to spend my money elsewhere although this Lucky's is close to my house but i will just take 5 more minutes to go to 99 Ranch Market because i am also Asian. Its probably not a race thing with that woman manager but it could be.

Cashier Dolores was rude and not focused on her job, she made many mistakes likely because she rushed. It's a shame that one person can ruin a whole store, since the rest of the store is clean and organized with good prices. Perhaps it's a good time to install self-checkout kiosks?

Stood at the service desk for the longest time to get help with MoneyGram. It was busy, but I was being patient until finally, the lady at the closest register decided to acknowledge me and ask what I needed, while ringing her guests up. She was talking in a very rude tone, like I was supposed to know that the MoneyGram changed when I had no idea what she was talking about. She basically said some nonsense about the rules changing, not being much of a help, and then just turned around and went back to what she was doing. Couldn't at least call someone over to explain to me the situation in more detail so I can be aware for the next time? Never coming back to this location again.

Wouldn't let me pick up a simple red box order when there was still some customers inside for those that was checking out as they were closing . Poor customer service. No work was needed on their part ... just had to let me in for a reserved pick up order. What is the big deal?
