Parking lot is a 3 ring circus... This is an older store and the customers are on the "shadier side..." Go during the day...Customer Service is a joke… went at 4:30 on Saturday and there was one cashier with a line almost to the rear of the store..Avoid Employee Leonard, he’s a jerk. I was standing, patiently in a line, waiting to check out and he tugs my cart aside and says that he can help me over at the self check. He scans the first two items, turns and says, there you can do the rest and walks away. If I had wanted to use the self checkout, I would have gone there in the first place. Frickn idiot.

Always kept clean and tidy, however they need to staff the registers. 10-15 minute lines are common. One register open when I was there today, plus self checkout. Not enough.

Ive came here multiple times and have the same experience each time. There is a Mexican lady with blonde hair and she is extremely rude. I also notice her hyper-focusing on any black people ALL THE TIME. Its 2023 there is no excuse for this, she doesn't get paid that much to where she thinks she can be as entitled as she is. There is no excuse for this behavior but friendly reminder if you hate your job that much to where you need to ruin people's day to feel like you're important, you need to quit or go to therapy seriously lmfao. Ive never seen someone so racist and angry at their own life. I dont do racism and I see the difference in her interactions with other people. Fix it, before she does it to the wrong person one day

Employee took my items and marked them up, even though the scanned price was set, claiming it was an error, yet the customer is meant to pay for the error of the store .....

They normally have 1 reg. lane open for alcohol purchases, and it's always long. All the self service lanes are always open which is awesome if you dont purchase alcohol! Its nice and clean, I love their plant and flower selections as they always change!

This store was closed in the afternoon yesterday (Tue) when we were there. Wondering it was out of business or just due to COVID-19. Missed the previous SuperMart in this location. No coupons needed for on sale items not at all. Cashiers were much more friendly to customers.

This store is horrible, hasn't been remodeled for decades and a total embarrassment to the surrounding neighborhoods. I echo another that posted about a certain employee that would never get away with his filthy appearance at another supermarket! No words as to how they tolerate it. I wonder if because this store is not Willow Glen, Campbell etc that it is disregarded completely by corporate? Because of the clientele? Because that's bull**** We deserve a clean, modern store with employees that bathe, acknowledge your presence and don't chat on their phones while working. Shame on the corporate operation directors for allowing this filth and beyond. We call this store GL1, Ghetto Lucky's 1, Landess store is GL2. Perhaps if they would invest in the store's appearance, inside and out, employees and training maybe we would go, Calaveras Safeway is an island of normal, worth the drive! Unless you've forgotten a carrot or salt, forget it. Best thing that could happen is the whole center is torn down, filthy, homeless, drug deals, etc, all no big deal there. No rules no repercussions. Can you tell I'm disgusted? I seriously wish it wasn't this way. I swear this northeast San Jose area is a forgotten dump, thanks for nothing San Jose government

Yesterday I went to Lucky on Capitol Ave. for a few groceries including steak for our dinner. The meat was despicable, the store's not clean and the clerk who checked out my groceries was rude. I realize it's been a hard time for people working in essential businesses but it's been hard for everyone. This store should be cleaned up or remodeled, making it a better, safer shopping experience. To make matters worse, as I left the store one of several homeless people who hang out in the parking lot, was screaming obscenities at a woman who wasn't there. All I wanted to do was get out of there and get home. I've given this Lucky's another chance but only to be disappointed again. So it's onto Safeway in Milpitas, for a much nicer experience.

It was a quiet and slow night. All employees and customers had their mask on and kept a respectful distance from one another. I noticed a worker cleaning and wiping up an area. At check out, they have the plexiglass between the register and the customer asking with a sign for customer to please wait for them to call them up prior to putting their purchases on the conveyor belt. Employees were efficient, nice, and respectful, couldn't ask for more.

My husband and I live very close to this grocery and usually go there to buy what we need. Today I went there to return an item my husband bought by mistake yesterday (I wanted a different but similar product) with the product obviously sealed, but they refused to accept the return even when I had already with me the other item in hands to make the exchange. They even didn't get the trouble to see what it was and immediately told me they are not accepting returns because of covid concerns. What??? Every time I needed to return or exchange some product in any other supermarket they always accept if the product is untouched and sealed, and never told me some absurd and lame excuse. This is something new I've never face in any store or grocery even during this times of covid, which makes me think they were only ill-disposed. Plus, it was not a food I was trying to return, it was a medication sealed package. This didn't make any sense and I felt poorly treated as a costumer. My husband and I do not intend to spent more dollars in this place anymore after this ridiculous episode. Better go to Target and Sprouts instead, even if it takes extra miles.

My experience midday was fast and efficient. There selection isn't wide but most things can be found at this store.
