I met with Chas from King Crane on 9/18 for a quote for a job in Aptos. He said he would have a bid for us in a few days. I called on Friday 9/22 still no bid. Called multiple times and left voicemails for Chas. After no response I called the office and they said they would get me an update. Nobody every returned my call. The office told me they would have Chas call me. So after 2 days and multiple calls. Two days later still no call. I finally called for the 10th time and Chas Answered. He told me they are too busy and asked if I got another bid. He only knew that because I left a voicemail saying a competitor came out for the owner, not me and gave bid within two days of seeing the job. So after fifteen days of no response or quote he tells me “We’re going to Pass on this job”. I was like Ok Thank you. And they hung up. You made me look really good to my customer who I was trying to get quote for. You have lost my business forever and I will let people know that you can’t Rely on King Crane. If you didn’t want our business, you should’ve let us know in the beginning or if you can’t handle the job, you should’ve let us know in the beginning instead of stringing us along for multiple weeks. Glad we found another company that honors their word and care about the people who call them for business.

The work was performed ok and professionally enough. What was completely unpleasant and unexpected, the crane operator wanted me to sign a document to release him of any liability should he screw up and drop the moved object, threatening to leave if the paper is not signed. This paper was presented at the moment when the object was already delivered and waiting in the driveway so I was forced to sign it. All this looked like blackmail and was totally inappropriate.
