Regrettably, in October, Royal Ambulance brought our Dad to GSH although I specified El Camino. In recent years, the very aged seem to be discarded as a low priority and their lives and comfort are not valued by this hospital. CT showed no brain bleed. We watched the ER nurse scrub his fresh head wound mercilessly even though he was crying out in pain. (Dad typically did not complain of discomfort so we knew it must have hurt terribly) She soaked his pajama top then left him wet, shivering and in pain. We had to hunt down a couple blankets. Being a former healthcare worker, I was embarrassed at the lack of respect and skills the ER staff demonstrated towards him. We were told the hip injury that brought him there was not a fracture. Two Tylenol were eventually given and he was sent home via ambulance since he could not walk or transfer without tremendous pain. He was never able to walk on it even after weeks of PT. I wish that was the last time he got any services from there and I wish that his was the only story of poor service that we had from GSH. It seems to be the norm now rather than the exception.

Wife gave birth twice and one ER visit here. We always felt we were treated like a family. If necessary, will definitely use their services.

From check-in, pre-surgery, surgery to hospitalization stay my care was exceptional. The surgery team and nurses on floor 6 joint replacement were exceptionally good. They met every need required with expertise, great attitudes and kindness.

Go to El camino or another hospital if you can. Horrible communication about patients progress and plan, inconsistent care (great in ICU, not so much 3rd floor medical) and you can NEVER reach anyone by phone to help or learn status. Case management for patient to transition home was a failure. We hope our loved one and the family never has to go through this type of experience again.

My grandson went to the ER twice this week for a fever and horrible cough(breathing issues). We were told he had one thing and they tested him for Covid and RSV, we were told they would call with results and sent us home on Tues. He got worse they never called and today we found out he has RSV. We only found out because we took him somewhere else. Good Samaritan Hospital had the positive results n failed to call us. My grandson is 2yrs old!I have heard so many bad things about this hospital but I live close by and I work for surgeons that do their surgeries at this hospital. I will never trust this hospital again and I will be warning all of our patients about the mistakes I know they have made and about this incident. I will advise people not to use this hospital.

My wife and I had a negative experience having birth at the Good Samaritan Hospital. The coordination of care between the doctors wasn't great and that created negative health outcomes for both mother and child. The nurses also recorded things incorrectly and that caused issues down the line. However, we were impressed at outreach once we voiced our concerns to hospital staff. The CEO himself called me and let me know that he would make sure that our concerns would be passed to the appropriate staff. We also had a call with the director of women's services and manager of the mother and child unit which was more detailed. They were all thankful for the feedback and that improved our overall experience with the hospital. We shared this feedback with them with the intention of improving their services and so that other families can go through better experiences moving forward. I am confident that they have a growth mindset and will work on improving.

I went here initially for preterm contractions at 35 weeks, and I was very pleased with my experience. They monitored me for about 8 hours until the contractions stopped, and I was impressed with their kindness and professionalism. It was a scary time for this first time mom, but they helped put me at ease. The second time I was here was for my actual delivery at 38 weeks, and Tarah was the primary nurse that took care of me. She was fantastic and the birth went really smoothly—it was as peaceful as a birth could be. The team was considerate of my birth plan (I didn’t have a ton of requests, but they dimmed the lights during my birth and further delayed cord clamping per request). Theyalso werduring the epidural process. The anesthesiologist was patient and listened when I mentioned that in the past (like at the dentist) I usually need more of the numbing in the beginning. The care team after birth was also great. Overall I was impressed with the level of care and would recommend a mama to have birth here. The one thing I wish I had figured out during my time in the hospital was breastfeeding. I had a number of nurses and around two lactation consultants come to try and help me latch with lots of struggling. It was also a bit confusing because each nurse had her own approach to breastfeeding—and while maybe that’s maybe helpful to some, for me it made it confusing because I was constantly changing approaches and there was no consistency (for instance, some nurses tried to have me use a nipple shield while others were adamantly trying to talk me out of it, they had me trying all sorts of different breastfeeding positions each time there was a shift change, etc). I wish that I would have seen a lactation consultant immediately day 1 or at least by 2, as this wasn’t something that was offered initially and I wasn’t able to get a good latch by the time I left the hospital and left feeling really sad and demoralized. The lactation consultants didn’t start coming to help until the end of my stay—by which time I had already been struggling too long and I didn’t have time to practice/was really confused with too much differing advice and not enough consistency. I also didn’t understand at the time why they were wanting me to pump until after I left the hospital (I wish this would have been explained). Ultimately breastfeeding was a huge area of stress for me in the hospital and after I was discharged (much more stressful and difficult than the actual birth), and I think this is the biggest area of opportunity for the care team. Please work on getting lactation consultants to see struggling moms immediately and don’t wait (I wish I knew to ask for this and be insistent). Also, please do a better job of looking at what prior staff has recommended in terms of breastfeeding and coming up with a more consistent plan versus changing recommendations based on the luck of who you see.

I saw Dr. Binkley in the ER for ongoing abdominal pain, and I was blown away by his compassion, his knowledge, and his quality of care. The folks who did the CT scan and ultrasound were also great and treated me with kindness. I didn't ever feel like I was "rushed to be in and out" like lots of medical facilities that are overwhelmed with patients. Actually, the intake process was quite quick and saw the doctor almost right away. I also appreciate the follow-up call asking how I was feeling. Thank you!

I was very impressed with how quickly I was seen. A lot was done in the 3 hours I was there. The longest I had to wait was a little over a half hour to get the results of the CT scan. Not to mention the fact that everyone I encountered was super nice and friendly. And a big shout out to "Mosquito," she made our (including my husband's) day!

Good Sam Hospital was always my preference location. I can say I got to experience what the medical industry has unfortunately turned to after the wrath of the pandemic. I went in for Hernia repair so while being prepped: I heard nurses talking rudely to each other and it was apparent they were having a little frustration between them, I over heard they are short handed, and to top it off I even heard the lead pre-op nurse have reprimanded conversation with a couple nurses! Then after surgery I was transferred to my room. My nurses were very nice but got just the bare minimum. Let’s just say what ever that was being tracked computer wise they did wonderfully. I was to be walked 2 hours after surgery, never happened. Was to start breathing exercise never got the tool. I was still out of it from anesthesia to ask or remind them. Finally the next morning when I was better I asked for the breathing tool and to be walked. The Nurse assistant came to walk me and at that time my pain was a bit bad but he said now or I don’t have time later! This was the first time I have had a horrible experience at Good Sam and I am very disappointed.

This place has nothing to do with being either "Good" or "Samaritan", rather it is a pure play for profit institute. My wife went there with pain in her ear. They couldn't diagnose it and took sample for lab tests. A practitioner gave her one Ibuprofen pill and send her back home and advised her to drink "tea with honey" and said "we will contact you if lab tests show infection". They did not give her any antibiotic and NEVER communicated the lab results to her!!! Her ear infection got worse the next day (literally coming out if her ear) and she visited another doctor, got several antibiotics for TWO FULL TERMS and took so long to treat it because IT WAS DIAGNOSED LATE. Because Good Samaritan ER couldn't diagnose an ear infection!!!However, one department works very efficient in that hospital. Yes, billing department! They charged us over $3000 for ER bill (without detailed explanation of the charges) for one Ibuprofen, one granny advice of drinking honey tea, one misdiagnose, and an imaginary lab test that never happened!Do yourself a favor, stay away and do NOT take a risk! If they miss a serious infection, the results can be devastating. It is late now, but I can see many 5 star reviews without a word!!! We fell for their 4.4 review rate on Google.

The experience was really that of my companion who is suffering from neuropathic pains arising from her spine, requiring MRI analysis. These pains are most intense when lying on her back, which was a serious problem in the MRI examination. With that background, we had bad things and good things. Her appointment was a 4:00 PM, and our instructions were to go directly to the MRI department via the East entrance. When we got there, we found that there was no registration clerk, and we had to traverse the breadth of the hospital to complete registration and retrieve her doctor's orders. Not good.We were guided through all this by Bic La, MRI technician. Bic was wonderful. Patient and helpful, she even pushed the transport chair in our trans-hospital journey. Bic took every effort to make the MRI experience as comfortable as possible. She was reassuring and caring. For us, Bic became the face of Good Sam MRI, and for that we are all fortunate.

The surgery staff were amazing. Evening and overnight stay staff after surgery were also amazing! The morning staff not so much. They seemed irritated to be there and did not seem to want to attend to beeping machine. Had to call multiple times to room for similar thing because they did not check properly the first time called in. Charge nurse for morning staff also did not seem to care after she checked in to see how things were going. She seemed irritated as well and never checked back.
