“Wow, the Japanese American Museum is amazing. Though it's not huge, there's a lot to see. There's information and photos from J-town in the past. The 442nd regimental combat team with their motto "Go For Broke". They were the most decorated combat team in WWll. They rescued "The Lost Battalion" from Texas. There's a lot of information and photos from the internment of Japanese Americans, including a replica of an internment barrack. There was also a Kimono exhibit when I went, but I think that the exhibit is over now. There's also a section on Redress with information and photos. It was very touching to tour the museum and I'd recommend that you visit the museum!!”

“This is a best place to go with entire family and enjoy gardening. We learnt about planting seeds and replanting the plants. It's open only on three days a week. Monday, Wednesday and Saturday. We learnt that egg shells will be integrated into chicken feed to increase the calcium in chickens. We can harvest some of the veggies at the end of our time.”

“This shop is amazing. I have donated the kiddos bikes as they aged out, and have always come for service. What Austin / Keith did to put Beti back in better than new shape is epic. And if you're planning on buying a (nother) bike they selection of great used bikes/at great prices can't be beat.Oh, and they're helping people in need. How cool is that?”
“Everyone is great there except for this one lady who offended me right to my face. I was shocked and taken back. I couldn't believe she interrupted my appointment conversation with the fitness coach to be offensive. Were in the main room inside an office discussing my test results from the health scanner they have in the side office. She came in and started talking to the fitness trainer. I figured she had work there to do since there was two desks. She kept talking to him and he asked her if he she wanted thebseat he was in and she said yes continued tovtalk to him. I was waiting for her to stop talking socwe can continue our appointment. She was just sitting there listening to our conversation regarding my results and tips and she chimed in "saying oh! Great! Your a photographer, it's my lucky day how great. We can use some headshots of the staff, for free of course. Im in charge of the money budget here and I love to save". I just finished explaining to the trainer work has been slow and difficult to be able to invest on a trainer for the future when things get financially better. When I mentioned I work in photography... I don't know if she knows how awful she was. Insulting and rude. I felt like puking or crying, shocked and insulted. I knew I wasn't in a real conversation with her in that moment. That she was a bipolar or something to be so awkward/ awful and she was just he's stealing my time away from my positive meeting with a trainer. We were speaking on my plans for success with the trainer and all she wanted was to disrupt. I just went home from that appointment slowly realizing how crippling she was. The trainer was very very kind trying to keep our conversation positive and focused on my success but I think he saw how belittling she was towards me because I couldn't smile after that bizarre disruption.”

588 N 4th St, San Jose“So thankful for the Yu Ai Kai (YAK) community and senior support services. My mother is 88 yrs young and during Covid she wasn't able to visit the senior center and activities. Her health was declining but fortunately with the care of Maria Solis (social worker) and Maya (nutritional meal delivery) she's been able to recover and become social again. I will be forever grateful for the fantastic volunteers and community here. YAK has their own 'Farmers Market' for seniors to buy fresh vegetables and fundraisers and activities for opportunities for social engagement. It's such a great community and you'll never meet a nicer group of staff and volunteers!”

The only negative is not having parking spaces except couple of blocks away and they do need better chairs so you don't need to rent them separately other than that the space is beautiful and as I mentioned their manager Michelle is really nice to work with.”
“I'm so fortunate to have found Cancer CAREpoint! Everyone is warm & welcoming. They are one of the few places that offer excellent survivorship & supportive services & resources! They have just started offering Saturday programs!!! YAY!!!For me it's worth the drive. Thank you Cancer CAREpoint”
“The best way to explain this is the you to read and evaluate and see for yourself. It would be more convincing if one would be interested enough to get in and involved themselves if you're truly searching for the spirit of your life. It's really a blast. Wesley Davis.”

“I have only experienced the pickleball court. There are a few cracks in the ground from ground movement. It is a single court soley purposed for pickleball (not an overlay) which is nice. Overall, it looks like a really nice place. There is a common in close proximity and view of the courts where people appeared to be having some food and drinks.”

“The entire Hunger at Home Family is AMAZING! Since January, 2021, Hunger at Home has been supporting our school food pantry. With their gracious support, we are able to serve twenty families each week with fresh and nutritious meals. If you are looking for an organization to support, PLEASE know that they have one of the biggest hearts in the Silicon Valley!. Thank you for all that you do for our community!”
“The customer service here is impeccable. Friendly, helpful, and knowledgeable staff. They should get a commission on getting up to sign up for all the programs the community center offers. So happy that we are past covid (mostly) and the level of programs offered there are returning to normal. Their offerings are cutting edge and relevant.Today, Valeria was amazing as helping my mom, her friend, and I sign up for a gym membership and casino trip.Thank you for helping us get our new year off to a great start.”
“Great bar and events. Home to all the Alum Rock proper and greater San Jose Veterans. Clean and welcoming atmosphere, bartenders are on point, and they take care of their own. Good spot to preflight of watch a game without all the civilian static you get in more public places...patronage may require some proof of military association.”

“My friends and I went for the Little Italy Street Festival held on 2nd Oct. It featured food vendors from Italian restaurants in mostly downtown. Was expecting some arts and crafts vendors too but this was mostly a food event. There were vendors from Pesaro, Bibos, Locando Sorrento, Lafenice diNapoli pizza, gelato,Gelato, polenta etc. By far the biggest lines were outside the diNapoli pizza cause they were churning them out hot and fresh. I did think it was expensive at $16 for a small personal size Margherita but the crust was nice. We tried the sfingi too which was like deep fried dough smothered in cinnamon sugar ($5 for 6)-sooo worth it.They also showcased some Lamborghini & Ferraris which was a total treat to see. They also had a small stage for live music.Overall a fun thing to do on a Sun afternoon. It was packed with people and was a bit congested though. Street parking was aplenty.”
6AM - 7PM
1185 Pedro St, San Jose“Really like this venue but very confused why NA got booted to another location then this places temporary. We were very motivated to go when discovering this place. A really big bummer.”
“This place is amazing! More people should know about this non-profit community access center. Since their move, they have elevated spaces to rent for parties or meetings. They also rent recording equipment and studio time. Knowledgeable friendly staff.”
“A great place for volunteering. I’ve been volunteering there for 25 years, an unexpected journey. All sorts of programs for your passions, low-income families and care, homeless, disaster relief efforts, local and international, e.g., Haiti, Mexico (training required). You can also volunteer in community education programs and their youth program.”
8AM - 5PM
749 Story Rd #10, San Jose“Great staff, very responsive to phone requests. I found this to be a reliable place to hire day labor. The company tries to match workers, they have all shown up on time. The skill level is variable, so it helps to be specific on your project.”
“If I had to describe South Valley YMCA Swim Lessons in one word, it would be *legit*. We’ve done swim lessons with the kids in 3 different locations around the bay before finding SVYMCA and we’ll tell everyone who will listen that this is the place to take your kids to actually LEARN to swim. We’re moving and are still considering how we can figure out getting back over there for just swim lessons. (Though we’ve been members there and it’s true of ALL their offerings.) To put it mildly, we are fans.”
