Update Update . In a landslide victory, I single-handedly sued. Carmax got them to do the right thing and they fired Joseph if Joseph's reading this or anyone else reading this that works there. Just remember you can't treat people with this dis respect you can't think that you're above people and if someone comes to you and tells you that they've been wronged by your company perhaps you should listen. Hopefully they fired Deanna Mendez as well , next if you have any questions or would like to know how you can fight back please contact me at 4088320493. You can see the photo I won $8000. Thank you so much to Robert L Star attorney-at-law. For taking the time to listen to me and make things right don't let anyone at Carmax tell you anything different you have a lot of rights and just because you bought a used car doesn't mean it Has to be a lemon, even more so you don't have to drink the lemonade

Excellent experience of selling them a used 5 year-old car. Their online appraisal tool gave us the highest estimate from all online sources. We came in dropped the key, they took it in for inspection, and they came back after 30 min with an offer $200 higher than their online estimate. Pretty amazing. Very painless, absolutely no haggling. Took longer than expected to do the paperwork (1:15 hours) but no surprises. Overall - an excellent used car selling experience. Recommended.

One of the sales guy was super nice. Seems like they are Wayy understaffed. It took almost 2 hours for a test drive and we had an appointment. First they said 15 min, then they said 10 then 10 more min. I didn't like how they got the time estimation wrong 3 timesThey need help here.

DON'T BUY FROM CARMAX, ESPECIALLY CAPITOL EXPRESSWAY!!! DON'T WASTE YOUR TIME, MONEY, AND SELF RESPECT!!! ZERO STARS. If you still aren't convinced... 1st bad experience: I reserved a car to test drive. -took 2 weeks to transfer & "inspect" -car didn't look like the pictures -significant wear damage -cigarette ash all over the car! -If that wasn't bad enough, the car wouldn't start! No way I was buying that car. 2nd and worst experience at Capitol Carmax. I found a vehicle I liked and I took it for a test drive. It was dark and I didn't notice the significant damage to both front and back bumpers until I returned and saw it during the day. Sales they told me that it would take over 3 weeks for them to look at and fix the car. They said they would replace the front bumper, but would most likely just buff the back bumper. I then discovered other issues with the car like the speakers not working. I wanted to test drive it for 24 hours, to see if any check lights come on. I secured an appointment through sales to pick up the car on Friday. I also uploaded all my documents on Wednesday prior to my appointment to save time. Unfortunately, when I arrived at my appointment time 5:00pm, a young guy at the counter checked me in as a walk-in even though I told him I had an appointment set by his employee the other day. The guy said he saw my appointment, but it was for the next day. Their first mistake. I told him well that is wrong and my appointment was exactly at 5:00 PM. The guy then asked for my name and I spelled out my first name slowly to him. The guy managed to spell my name completely wrong. That should've been the 2nd red flag of the evening. My friend was standing right next to me and she asked if I was sure I wanted to stay. I was told that I would be seen between 30-40 minutes max. I told the guy that I had completed everything online so that I could just pick up the car. He told me that none of the sales guys were available. He told me I was fifth on the list. I decided to stay, and my friend left. I continued to check in with different employees since no one was managing the front counter. I soon found out that out of five employees, three of them were already off. It had been an hour. They told me I was second on the list. Some employees left. It was 6:30pm when I was finally next to be seen. More people started to show up and this young guy was checking them in. He looked like he was in training. He definitely did not look like sales, because then he would be helping with sales and not just checking in people. At 6:50pm I decided to approach the same guy hiding behind a desk in the very back. I told him my situation and asked when I would be seen. The guy then asked for my name. I told him my name and that they misspelled my name and wouldn't correct it (even though I told multiple employees). I told him I had an appointment at 5:00 PM. He told me I was not in the system at all! But I could see it from the check in computer. I proceeded to tell him my whole experience there that night and asked to see his manager. I told him that this is unacceptable and unprofessional. I told him I know it's not your fault, it's management, so can I speak to your manager. This guy who looked as young as 20 years old, looked back at me and told me "I am the manager". I couldn't believe it! This guy was the manager and wasn't helping his salesforce. I said since you're the manager then can you help me? I was told by sales all I needed was to sign a form before they bring the car around and give me the keys, since all my information was uploaded on Wednesday. What happened next was very unexpected. The guy who claimed to be the Manager named ZACH, responded "No, I cannot help you because that would be unfair for all the other people waiting who have appointments." I was completely shocked with his response. I had just told him I was there waiting for two hours to be seen by anyone. Appointment or no appointment should not matter a

Had a verified online offer from them. Brought my car and got some run-around talk about a bike hitch invalidating the offer and thus offering half. I declined and when I went to get my car all the doors had been left open with not a soul around at night. When I left I was able to get on the freeway quickly only to suddenly have my car alert me that my hood was unlatched. Sooo unprofessional on many levels. I will never set foot in this place again.

Carmax was the only place I could find with the color, model and year car I wanted. However, shipping the car cost an exorbitant amount ($2K), the sales person who helped me was not knowledgeable about the processes, the car was handed over dirty inside and out. I was given only 1 regular key and 1 valet key with no prior knowledge and one tail-light was broken. I spoke with the manager and he did his best to make things right, however the experience of buying was not great and I've now had to go back twice for fixes and had to wash and clean the car myself. Unimpressed.

The actual car buying experience went well. My salesman Jay, was very nice and professional. The only thing, as I was driving the car home, I started hearing a noise on the car. When I called them to see about bringing it back to have someone look at it, they give me a date 2 weeks later. So now, I've purchased a vehicle I have only taken on a test drive and driven home and have not driven since. Would've been nice to get a car and be able to drive it. Called back to see if I could bring it sooner, they told me I could just return the car. No one seemed willing to help rectify the situation. This is the 2nd vehicle I have purchased from them and both had problems right after purchase.

Nice car but the windshield mysteriously cracked 3 days after receiving the car and the service department voicemail is full and no one will return any of my calls or requests for service despite having a 90 day service agreement. Sad

So incredible easy to sell our car. I was worried that it would be a huge hassle but it was done in no time. Also felt like we got a very fair price so I was happy with that. Would definitely recommend Carmax!

Went there later in the evening from Stockton. The Camaro looked decent, not detailed but seemed like good deal. We did the purchase online and didn't really have a chance to go over it thoroughly. I got stuck in the car, unable to open the door. I found the molding was very loose and clips gone. All through the car inside and out clips broken. Hood misaligned as well. If the car wasn't 18k, I might have kept it and took care of issues. But the guarantee to return vehicle was the choice since fixing or reducing price wasn't an option. Due to refunds taking up to 30 days and no vehicle available for me, I had to try to find something else at same price that we wanted. Modesto CarMax and Charles helped us out and we found a car. I just think a bit of price adjustments should be an option, but the guarantee and work staff puts in, is definitely a good thing considering how it could have gone from different dealers/sellers. Wishing I found convertible, but happy with the Cadillac. Thanks guys.

If I could give zero stars I would. First off they sold me the wrong vehichle. I was told I was purchasing a truck with a 8 ft long bed and since I confirmed this with ALL 4+ people I was working with I was assured that it was indeed an 8ft bed. I made an appointment to pick it up a week before I ntended to. When I went to sign the paperwork nothing was ready including the truck. It had the engine lights going off, it was extremley dirty. I even verified the bed size while I was there after they had taken it back to service. I was again reassured it was an 8ft bed. I obviously could not take it with me that day so they gave me a loaner, very nice if them. I had to follow up multiple times to find out when it would be delivered. They delivered it a week later on a trailer and it had a cracked windshield. They sent a company to fix that the following week. When I finally was able to get a good look at the truck, almost 2 weeks after the purchase, is when I realized it was a 6ft bed. I contacted them immediately and got the run around from multiple people. First off they acknowledged that they had it listed in their system as an 8ft bed and that I was lied to when I was told that they physically checked multiple times. They then told me to look online and find a new truck. At this point I was pissed. CarMax does not list the trucks correctly and when they are listed as long beds they are 4 door short beds. One manager tried to help however she had no idea what an 8ft bed on a truck was and kept sending me listing that were clearly short beds. She proceeded to tell me I was SOL! I asked to speak to another manager, Zach from Capitol Ex, San Jose location. He sent me a nice email but then the communication stopped. As of now, almost a week later I have been ghosted. I will never ever ever purchase a vehichle again from CarMax. The process is confusing and inefficeint and horrible. The only plus was Jorge in the service department. He was the only consistent helpful person I dealt with. Purchase with caution!!!

Carmax was such an easy process. They bought my truck, paid off what I still owed and sold me another truck. Before I have spent hours and hours at a dealership. Not carmax. It was a great experience. Shout out to Andre who helped us with the truck and Deanna who did the DMV paperwork.
