Im a huge fan of Mi Quang. The place I used to go to got bought and is run by someone else and the soup just isn't good anymore so I stopped going and have been on a search for my new spot. Went here and sadly this soup was worse. It had different taste, the shrimp was a small baby shrimp that tasted like it came from a frozen bag, broth was missing flavor, noodles were smaller, and it was full of a bunch of stuff that I've never seen before. It honestly tasted like 2 day old soup that had been reheated after not finishing your bowl and throwing it back in the pot then taking it out and reboiling. Everything in that bowl tasted and looked cheap.

I love this place! Been going here for Years! Knocked off a star because it is a hole in the wall. This place have been opened 20 plus years, but they don't seem to mind how it looks inside... DON'T use their restroom! You either do it before getting there or just HOLD it in until you're done! Remember you've been warned! On the other note, the food is good here! At least their appetizers are! Best BANH BEO in San Jose! Best CHA HUE in San Jose! Best BANH RAM in San Jose. Banh Bot Loc is okay, since I'm not to fond of that dish anywhere (unless I make it myself, but that takes forever, haha) I know there's a lot of restaurants in San Jose that serves HUE DISHES, atheistic looks better both inside and out (much more new compare to this BUN BO HUE on Senter) but don't do it! Go here!!! Also, their Bun Bo Hue is decent here, however I like this particular dish better over at BUN BO HUE AN NAM. Good luck, yelpers!

I've been coming here since I was kid. I love the Banh Beo. It's a rice cake with ground shrimp and green onions on top. You eat it with fried pork skins and Vietnamese fish sauce. There's a parking lot and they accept CASH only.

Came here to celebrate a friend's birthday and try one of the OG Vietnamese restaurants in San Jose. The Bun Bo Hue soup was so freaking flavorful, I wish I got my own bowl, instead of stealing from my friends. I needed up getting the spicy chicken and it was so yummy, I actually think it had the perfect level of spice. We also got the tapioca dumpling and they were average. Sadly I don't remember the name of the drink I got, but it was lemon with club soda, and it helped my digestion. Can't wait to come back and get my own bowl of Bun Bo Hue!

This is our first time coming to this restaurant to eat. We were planning to eat at the Grand Century Plaza, but my brother decided he wanted Bun Bo Hue instead and suggested this place. So upon arrival, we were seated and menus given. This place is like a mom and pop shop. We ordered and the food was pretty delicious. The reason for the 3 stars only was because when my boyfriend received his rice plate, there was a piece of hair between his pork chops. My suggestion is to have the workers wear some hairnets and gloves when working, but overall the food was delicious.

My friend and I were kind of hungry and decided to snack a little. We came a little late so most of the other places were closing up. Service is typical of an asian joint. They get the job done and they leave you alone. BUN BO HUE This was not the best bun bo hue I've had. It was more on the bland side and the broth was lacking a lot of lemongrass flavor. The meat didn't taste very fresh, but it wasn't horrible. Flavor was lacking for sure. BANH BEO- ground shrimp over round rice cakes I really liked the banh beo. It's different from the ones I've had. I really like the crunch from the pork rinds and the nice shrimp flavor. The rice cakes themselves were thin, which was perfect because most of the flavor came from the ground shrimp. I wouldn't come back for the bun bo hue, but I would for the banh beo. I might just come back and try their other appetizers.

First time here, at first when I parked at the plaza and looked at the restaurant, it wasn't what I expected. People posted really nice pictures of the food here so I was expecting it to be a little better. The tables looked sticky and the menu is already preset on all the tables. They look like they needed to be wiped down too. Behind the counter reminded me of a street vendor in Vietnam. However, the lady was very friendly and my Togo food was wrapped nicely. The banh bot loc [shrimp & pork dumpling] (was very good. I loved that it was filled with shrimp and a chunk of pork, topped with fried pork rinds and jalapenos!!! The fish sauce was light but it paired perfectly with the banh bot loc. And the jalapeno was sliced very thin so it wasn't spicy to me when I ate it altogether. Ban beo [steamed rice] was delicious, too. Same topping as banh bot loc but also included that orange-y shrimp thing. Vietnamese Iced coffee was one of my favorite here. Bold and sweet but not too thick from the condense milk. Will definitely be back and try other items.

Cash ONLY place; old, run down, dirty, hole in the wall. Not for non Vietnamese speaking customers. The one server ignored us for the most part and we had to stand up to get anything we wanted - not certain what his problem was; definitely started to treat us better once I spoke Vietnamese. It's a very small joint and took a while to get table for 6. Not for large parties either. That said their food was excellent and affordable. The Bun Bo Hue per place name was decent but the Bun Rieu was one of the best I've tasted. Food was worth the poor service and if I'm in SJ I will go for their bun rieu again.

I use to love coming here for Banh Beo and Bun Bo Hue, sadly this is longer the case. Don't expect your chairs and tables to be clean let alone the floor. I typically bring wet wipes (yes wet wipes) so my kids can clean their hands before eating and wipe the tables afterwards, well I guess I should've taken a picture of the wipe to show everyone how filthy the tables were. I'm so surprised that this place haven't been written up by some food inspectors. Bad tasting food + uncleanliness + bad service = non-returning customers

A mom and pop shop located in an overly crowded plaza. One of the many shops that take CASH ONLY. This restaurant isn't the most attractive place out there and will hit you with a stench of asian cuisine goodness. The food is great but can use a bit of improvement when it comes to spiciness and portion. By this I mean that the Bun Bo Hue could have been spicier and the Bun rieu could have had more noodles. The flavor was great though. The Banh beo had a good texture and wasn't bad at all. Overall everything was pretty good in terms of Vietnamese authenticity.

There's other better BBH place to go in SJ. The customer service was bad just because I didn't know how to speak Vietnamese. I had to call the staff so many times to get their attentions for ordering foods or asking water. Their BBH was very bland and it just wasn't that great or satisfying at all. We also ordered their Banh Beo and Banh Bot Lot, it was chewy and was OK tasting with their sauce but i didn't like it much! This place is CASH ONLY. And, I won't go back to the restaurant again!
