So in 2019, I’m working on a project trike, and I bought new wheels for my pre-existing hubs.I asked if they could take the existing hubs and put them on the brand new wheels. There was a nice gentleman there that helped me and had initially honored the request.Pandemic hits, and everything closes.Everything became by appointment only, the guy’s son took over, and every time I call, the son says “I’ve got a lot of work to catch up on”, and “you’re next up on my list bro…. call me back in two weeks.” I would call back and the cycle would repeat over and over and over.I was quite patient with this guy…. Seeing as how this was a project and wasn’t in an incredible rush.Second year goes by and in fact, I even went down several times to get the status of the build, and he even managed to upsell me into new hubs… said they would work better, that it would be more stable, etc. etc. etc. blah blah blah…I agree to the new hubs(which I didn’t mind paying for) and proceeds to tell me that he needs more time to complete the build, as he will need to have special work done on the third hub, which is the drive wheel etc..etc.More time goes by, more phone calls for status updates and more excuses…. “I’ve got a plan for this… you’re next up on my list…. Give me two weeks and I’ll have it done.”He even goes so far as to say “the work will be on me, I’ll do the work for free since it’s been so long”.Third year goes by and I’m through with this guy’s blatant lies…. He’s clearly has no intention of finishing the project.I go to pick up the wheels, and sure enough…. He charges me for the hubs(which I had no problem paying for, I’m not looking for free parts) but he also charged me for work on two completed wheels and scribbles some nonsense idea of how I can finish the third wheel if I have a steel wedge made that goes inside the third hub. ???ok guy.I’ve now taken his idea to three different bike shops, and no one seems to understand what he’s really talking about or why he chose to do it in this manner.I’m going to end up spending another $1200-$1500 bucks just to get the wheels completed, unless I want to scrap the new hubs and start over using the old ones.Basically, I seriously think this guy may be on drugs. Made no sense, didn’t deliver on any of his promises, wasted three years on this project, and to be perfectly honest, I should’ve taken him to small claims.I just don’t have the time, energy or the patience to deal with anyone’s lies anymore.Don’t use this guy. Seriously. Don’t use him.Cars get built in years… not tricycles. If you’re still on the fence as to whether to use this place or not, consider that with as many bad reviews as this place gets, there has to be a degree of truth to all of them.My honest opinion, stay away. Whatever talent existed in this place at one point, is now long gone. The apple has fallen far from the tree. These are pictures from the two wheels that he actually did manage to build, which are decent work, and the video is of him, actually searching for all of my parts, which he had under a gigantic pile of boxes, and other stuff hidden out of sight.?

I purchased my bike from Calabazas Cyclery more than a decade ago and recently bought new pedals online. When I called the shop to inquire about a pedal change service, the response I received was unexpectedly discourteous. The staff member on the phone informed me that they only work with pedals purchased from their store. Additionally, he mentioned that my bike, originally bought from their shop, was now too old for them to service. When I sought clarification, his blunt reply was, "I just don't want to do it." While I understand that there may be valid reasons for not providing service, I believe that there is a more professional and courteous way to communicate this to customers. The manner in which my inquiry was handled was off-putting. I will not shop at Calabazas Cyclery again.

rude owner, said he does not work on bikes not sold by him. I called in advance and was not told this. Then he tried to scam big bucks. Avoid

Fabulous experience. Every family member thanked me for buying my bike at their bike shop. I think the lady said they started in 1990’s when bikes were the environmentally friendly alternative. The bike rides smooth as silk. They do 3 free tune ups the first year and lifetime safety checks. Milo?lets you know when he needs an ear scratch.

The store has so many different styles of bikes here and beautifully designed. I came here with my boy friend and we could not be happier with our decision selecting Calabazas Cyclery. Right away when we entered Rob approached us and introduced himself to us and answered all of our questions and even made suggestions and recommendations that helped us out with our purchases. This store has such a great vibe and would definitely come here again.

My bike's front tire wouldn't stay inflated, so I brought it it into the shop on a Saturday afternoon. They provided me a quote for labor+ parts and within 10 minutes, I was back out the door. They also provided a safety check on my bike, which I super appreciated. If I tried to do this myself, there would be a lot more time and tears involved.

So my kids decided to ride their bikes in a back trail off road. Seconds later, 4 tire punctures from rolling through puncture weed / goat heads had me looking for solutions. I called Rob and he told he could fix the bikes with new inner tubes, remove all thorns for $140. But I wanted to learn to do this myself and teach my kids a lesson also. Instead, with Rob's warm open advice, I walked out spending half that with the parts needed and an upgrade! Ended up getting the right inner tubes, and a puncture guard strip which I installed that afternoon. Reasonable prices and helpful expertise make this shop a great local option. I saved $70 and learned how to fix the bikes myself and taught my kids a valuable lesson!

Do not listen to any of the fake 5 star reviews. This place has a predatory business model; they give you a false quote and then charge you an absurdly high amount after the repairs have been completed. Rude and disrespectful staff, have no qualms about taking advantage of people.

Horrible owner and guys , very rude behavior. He is behaving as if he is owning a tesla showroom and service center. don't even think of going to this guy. very rude behavior. Even its electric bike he doesn't want to repair a flat tire for it. Very Rude behavior to customers. ?????.i should have seen the other people rating before walking with my bike for 2 miles to this idiot guys sho). He thinks electric bikes are bad and will ruin his business. yelling at me to move bike out of his shop and telling me i'm stuck with the bike i bought. if he is not able to repair a flat tyre of a bike why he is running that shop.if it is normal or electric its doesn't matter.

Really horrible customer experiences.I always like to help small business out and support them however I can, I also don't ever write one star reviews. But however this cyclery is an exception. I took my bike in at three in the afternoon to get it tuned and fixed, however without even finishing my sentence I got cut off with the store owner saying "I'm not talking to you" while eating. I try my best to understand his side of working and being on his lunch break, but it's no exception on having an attitude and not letting people speak. There are no indications of services being closed and three in the afternoon is a reasonable time to come to a store. I tried to ask when I can come back in a nice manner and got the "I'm not talking to you" again. Please don't come here, especially to buy a bike. They don't offer any returns and tune-ups after you buy a bike even if there are damages to their product found after purchase.

Went there for some prosaic rim brake pads with a removed pad to be sure I got the right part. I handed the removed one to the disinterested guy in a store empty of customers. He could only find one pair of inexpensive ones, so he brought out 2 pair of more expensive ones. Alas, I got home, cut the packages open, and discovered they grossly didn't fit. Maybe this was a bad day, but this will be my first and last visit to the store. I'm happy to go to a specialty shop and pay top dollar, but my expectation is that there will be expertise to match the prices.

Excellent local family oriented bike shop. Very friendly owner. They help support local bicycle advocacy groups like the Silicon Valley Bicycle Coalition.

I'm a 5th generation Bay Area native, and I used to think this place was a decent neighborly place. I was sorely mistaken. I went in to tighten a bolt on my daughter's bike, and the repair guy said rudely, "I don't loan out tools." When I asked for clarification, he told even more rudely to get out of his shop. I'll never be back to this place, even though it's one of the closest to where I live.

first visit / last visitI’ve never been to a bike shop that didn’t have a pump for the public to use, until today.I’ve never been to a bike shop that had an air compressor to fill tires, but couldn’t use it to fill mine “due to legal issues” until todayI’ve never been to a shop with employees getting defensive about not being able to provide air, until today.Coming here and seeing all the other reviews is a relief in knowing they treat everyone horribly.

Bad customer service. I placed a call for 2 questions and right after my first question the guy just hung up. My second question was about their inventory for a purchase and looks to me they lost a sale. Will not be doing business with this place.
