This place is what I consider highway robbery. My friend rented this room for me when I came to visit her. It cost, with tax, about $180. I thought -- woohoo! -- I am staying in a nice room. I go into the room, which has two rooms, one of which is supposed to be a sitting room and the other is the bedroom. And all I find is practically an empty room. For $180 I would expect something besides a bed and bare walls. This room had no screens in the windows to keep the bugs out, no art on the walls, no TV, no AC, no fan, no radio, and no phone to call the office and even ask a question without walking down there. Seriously? For $180 I would expect a mini fridge and a microwave. The sitting room contains 2 chairs and a funky table which looks like it needs to be sanded and painted. In fact the side tables by the bed were the same. Very funky furniture. No couch or comfortable place to really hang out in the sitting room, unless you like sitting in a chair all day. It looked like the waiting room to a therapy office. LOL. The sitting-room does have a door that goes into the back. It is overgrown weeds and a lot of bugs are out there but there is also a veggie garden. If you like veggies, like I do, you might enjoy sitting outside in the garden. However, the cushions and the chairs are old and dusty and, when I lifted one up, a bunch of some type of centipedes were under it. I am thoroughly disgusted with a room that cost this much money and gives you nothing. Not even hangers for washing a few things out to dry or hanging a suit or dress! What are they thinking?!
What they did right was that the bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was clean. The water, however, does not get hot so the best you can hope for is a warm shower. If you like hot showers, forget it. And the bathroom is tiny and cramped. There is a restaurant attached to this motel which is well known to locals here for its good food. I am doing a separate review on that. So there is expensive food available, no microwave or anything you bring with you since there is no fridge. This place does have one small advantage in being only about a 5 minute drive from Roy's Redwood park, where you can wander around in the Redwoods. Overall, if I was choosing the hotel and paying for it myself, I would never have chosen this place. Since it was a gift from my friend, I am grateful to have a comfortable bed. But I thought my readers should know I do not recommend this hotel unless you have money to burn and enjoy bare bones.
