This is the best place to buy a bottle of wine! The staff was extremely knowledgeable, their preference for wine was excellent, and there is always something new to try. They even have wine tasting events every Sunday. I can see why this lovely Wine Shop has expanded so much. Go check them out!

It was a fantastic experience of being in the wine shop! Paul was very welcoming, engaging, charismatic, and knowledgeable about the wines. He took the time to share his passion for wines and storytelling. We tried delicious wines that he was very generous to offer us. A truly memorable experience!

Overpriced and not that great of selection. For reference they're selling Blantons single barrel for $249. Retail is about $60 and secondary is about $120 at most.

What kind of liquor store is closed all the time? If you have the need to pick up a bottle of wine after work, you may as well look elsewhere. Very bizarre place. The owner responded saying that is a high end place and has limited hours. Lol. It's neither high end, And I've been to plenty high end places that sell very distinguished and hard to find liquor that have much better hours - high times, total wine, etc. Good luck to their new business model!

I have had nothing but excellent experiences with Uncle Fossil in the last few months. At the beginning of the year, I stopped by the Valley Blvd. store on the spur of the moment, looking for a very particular wine and vintage year. They didn't have it, but the staff was friendly and apologetic and offered some sound advice on an alternative. More recently, I had some specific wines and spirits in mind. One of the managers and I are connected in the virtual world through a social network, and her frequent postings of wines and prices have been valuable. When I messaged her about availability and location of some bottles that I wanted, she responded almost immediately and with courtesy, friendliness, and very good written English, a point that I value as an English teacher for many years. She also directed me to Uncle Fossil's newest store on San Gabriel Boulevard where the young man in charge there speaks impeccable English. As other reviewers have noted, their prices are remarkably low. The selection of wines is perhaps a bit broader and deeper with reds than with whites, but some of their ads seem to emphasize the reds anyway. Uncle Fossil has its share of legitimately excellent high-end award-winning reds like the internationally famous Mondavi-Rothschild collaboration Opus One (different vintages at substantially lower than full market prices) but also a broad selection of more moderately-priced wines from quality vintners doing their best work, like Joseph Phelps and Inglenook to name two. A final point. As Ms. Fei mentions in a reply to a review elsewhere here, the San Gabriel Valley is a series of interlocking diverse communities of many people from many places with many languages. While I am sure that some of the Uncle Fossil employees are more comfortable speaking in their native Mandarin, my sense is that any legitimate attempt to communicate with them with good will, an open mind and heart, and a degree of patience will be successful. They are after all in the business of selling wine and spirits, and when it comes to business, everyone's money - whatever their origin may be - is the same color - green. I'll certainly be shopping here again.

Okay, I stand by my first review. Apparently people are still having trouble with communication at this store. Just like I did.

Needed to buy a gift.Asked salesman 3 separate times if can be delivered today. Was important. Was a 220 dollar bottle. They processed payment - then said "IT issue." But card was processed. When I asked why this can't be solved, salesman said let me have 20 minutes and I'll get back to you." Unless 20 minutes means "never" he wasn't telling truth. Needed to contact bank to stop payment. Just a ridiculous place in all respects --------- In response to your reply- 1) 75 hours later I have not received any refund 2) I can screen grab my texts with person I ordered from and you can see. He said I'll talk to boss and see if we can solve. Give me 20 minutes. 1 hour later I asked any update. No reply. 3 hours later. No reply. It's odd how you can reply on yelp but not to guy you charged 215 dollars to and haven't refunded. Question: is no reply to me good fair? 2- is not refunding cc fair? I spent another 20 minutes with credit card company filing fraud report. So lots of wasted time. And instead of saying something to me - you say it on yelp? You have my phone number. Not sure why you think you did right thing.

They don't seem to follow a regular hours of operation. Sometimes they're closed at 11 a.m. sometimes they're closed all weekend with a little note stuck in the door. I really don't think these folks know how to run a business.

I gave this place 6 months. Even became a "member." Its a liquor store plain and simple. I would get craft beer here but it was limited. If you're into craft beer, there isn't much thought into what they buy. Staff was also not knowledgeable nor spoke English so difficult to communicate with them. There seemed to be a very high turnover rate and each person was more green than the person before them. Prices are what you would expect from a liquor store if not a little higher. "Membership" just eliminated the tax but you were still paying a bit more. There are other places around the area you could find better service.

Ok, I'm all for cultural diversity. But please speak English! The young lady had no idea what I was asking for. I wanted camel cigarettes, she just kept grabbing random packs with no clue as to what i asking. I tried to point to what I wanted, she just kept grabbing random packs with no attempt to understand what I was saying. When I finally got my order ready she couldn't even enunciate price for my final order. She giggled a lot but that didn't help me in any way. My high school alumnus used to work here for many years, not so anymore He spoke English. Like me. I miss the old days.
