“I recently signed up for my first-ever Olympic distance triathlon and brought my bike to Pasadena Cyclery for a Level 1 Service package. This was my first time getting my bike tuned professionally, as I’ve been doing my own bike repairs for the last ten years. The Level 1 Service, priced at $125, included a full tune-up: everything torqued, aligned, and adjusted—brakes, shifting, headset, hubs, bottom bracket, bolts, frame wipe-down, tire inflation, lubrication, and a minor wheel true. They were upfront about the need for new brake pads, cables, and bar tape with gel pads, which I appreciated. The itemized receipt is attached to this review.

I dropped off my bike on Tuesday, and they had it ready by Thursday—perfect timing for the event on Saturday. The cables were installed neatly, and the shifting worked better than it had in years. The bar tape was applied more expertly and perfectly than I could ever do myself. Their communication and professionalism really stood out, and I felt confident heading into my triathlon knowing my bike was in great shape. I had a super fun time on my bike, charging through rolling hills.

Since then, I’ve been so stoked on riding that one of my rear wheel spokes broke today. After ten years of riding on it, I guess it was bound to happen sooner or later. Luckily, I have the time to fix it myself, but if I were under a time crunch, I wouldn’t hesitate to bring my bike back to Pasadena Cyclery again. Getting my bike tuned professionally is an occasional luxury that’s absolutely worth it.

Update: unfortunately someone stole my bike in front of the Caltech Gym entrance 10/17 between 6:40pm-7pm so I don’t have a bike to bring in for repair anymore :(”

“Patient, trustworthy, and will tell you options. Our case was a situation that required us to contact the manufacturer since it's a very old bike, and they don't have parts for our particular bike. $65 to investigate your ebike issue, with a 3-5days minimum stay over needed to investigate.

Friendly! Very knowledgeable! Repairs ebikes too. Will be buying my next ebike from here! Unsure how they make money though! They take credit card and cash.

Apparently when starting, they were a bicycle shop 5 years ago. They quickly turned into an ebike shop due to its popularity.”

“Chinchilla was one of the nicest people I’ve met in the bike industry. I rolled in at 10:05 on a Sunday with iffy shifting with my DI 2 . He didn’t hesitate to put it up on the rack and fix my issue. Hanger was bent a bit and chain was @ 50% . New chain, alignment and derailleurs adjustments. Out the door in less than 20 minutes. I know this isn’t the norm as far as taking in a bike and get instant service but demeanor and just being honest goes a long way in my opinion. I will be bringing my bikes to this man. I live in Whittier and it’s worth the drive.”

“Amazing bike shop! Wanted a push bike for 2 yr old and bike with training wheels for 4 year old granddaughters. Not only did they have both in pink, in stock in boxes, they are putting them together for us right now! Can’t say enough about this place. This shop might be small but they had everything we wanted after being to two other shops. Super reasonable prices too!”

“I’m so happy I found Steve’s Bike Shop. Wont be going anywhere else now. Not only was the work they performed on my mountain bike top-notch, it was done quickly and at about half the price of the larger bike shops I checked with when I was pricing out these repairs. Best of all, they were willing to take the time to talk with me and explain anything I had questions about which is something most mechanics don’t/won’t do.Only suggestion I would make is to add a tip jar at the front counter so happy customers like me can show a little extra appreciation for the great service we get when we walk through the door. I honestly kind of felt like I was stealing from them when I heard the total cost for all the awesome work they did for me. ?”

“TLDR: fantastic service and fantastic track bikes. The best you will get in this price range!Long story:I was in need of a new track bike after my precious custom Fuji Track Pro was stolen last week. It was foolishly expensive (~$1500) because building cool and unnecessarily high quality track bikes part-by-part was a hobby of mine 15 years ago.Now though, I just needed something that was decent quality, reasonably priced, and reasonably sexy.I spent a few days looking around on offer up/craiglists/FB marketplace to see what options exist these days. It seemed the sweet spot was between $400-$700 based on things like a new tracklord or used fuji track pro/leader.However the bike that really caught my eye was this weird, seemingly self-made bike called the Raptor (or Cyborg) from SGV bicycles. It had the coolest frame I'd seen in my price range, this awesome 70mm chonker of a rear wheel, and seemed easily customizable to my liking (drop bars, etc).Rather than spend weeks continuing the search for a used bikes (and likely still ending up running into issues with whatever I get) I decided to drive down to SGV (1 hour away) and check it out in person.I was greeted by Zoe at the door who was super friendly. It was a bummer and a little awkward that I had to stand outside, as their showroom is still closed, but she happily tolerated my barrage of questions and brought a Raptor out for me to take a look at.After about 20-30 minutes of discussion--including finding out the frame was designed by Henry's (the other co-owner) brother!--I concluded to YOLO and pull the trigger on the purchase.Henry built it out for me with leader track drops, a 17T cog, and a seat pad at no extra charge. I also added some Wellgo straps for an extra $20. They even worked with me to adjust the seat 5 or 6 times until it was the perfect height.Been riding it every day for a week now and have had zero issues. I will probably replace the pedals with some higher tier sealed cartridge ones soon, but other than that i suspect I'll be riding this thing as is for years to come.Overall I am super happy with my purchase and couldn't recommend SGV or the Raptor/Cyborg more highly! Thanks Zoe and Henry :)”
