Their tofu spoiled right away. Called & was told, "no English" and then they hung up. Will never buy their products again!

Tofu and bean sprouts are some of my food staples, which I normally buy at Bay Area supermarkets. There are several brands in the market, but I prefer Wo Chong, which is a brand I grew up with as it was the brand my parents used. Wo Chong is fourth generation San Francisco business since 1935 that produces tofu and bean sprouts, soy bean sprouts, clover sprouts and onion sprouts. It's one of several Chinatown institutions still in operation. The store is very basic with displays of fruits and produce. On the left case are the fresh bean sprouts that you can buy pre-bagged or loose at $.85/lb and the packages of tofu in silken, soft and firm textures at $1.25. At the counter, there are two types of tofu you can buy by the piece at $1.50 and $.25 each. They also sell fresh soy milk and noodles too. I will now be stopping at Wo Chong when I'm in Chinatown to get my tofu and bean sprouts. Can't get any better than getting it from the source and at lower prices than the store and markets than sells them.

What a find! They sell tofu and allow you to use your own container, and it's priced dirt cheap. Save the environment and get your protein!

I come here almost every weekend to buy freshly-made Sweet Soy Milk for $2! Sometimes they run out of the sweetened version, due to lack of bottling materials, but that doesn't stop us from buying the regular soy milk. I also buy won-ton, dumpling, and potsticker wrappers because of their reliably cheap prices. Definitely recommend stopping here for some fresh sweet soy milk if you're in the area!

Great local producer of tofu and bean sprouts. They also sell dumpling wrappers, noodles, and some veggies. Cash only.

Best place for local tofu (they supply Safeway). Their produce is reasonable and no lines in their store now (please wear a mask for courtesy and protection of others). Cash only. Friendly people. Convenient location off Stockton and bus routes.

Restocking my dumpling skins. They also have decent vegetables and sell homemade tofu as you all know.

Hole in the wall tofu shop whose wares extend all over the Bay Area. While you can buy their firm tofu in most grocery stores, buy a container of the sweet silken tofu while you're here--YUM! FOOD: buy tofu by the square, in sealed packs (as at any grocery store), fried, plain, or silken (note that it is sweetened)! The dessert tofu sits next to the register in clear plastic takeaway containers. The smoothness and light sweetness (not cloying) beats the dessert tofu I've had in most dessert shops in the Bay Area, and at $1.25 per ~pint, it's a steal! Store also carries noodles and limited (and sad looking) produce. SERVICE: very friendly man helped us check out--he didn't speak very much English, but he beamed at us and was very careful counting out change. AMBIANCE: it's Chinatown, so it's not the cleanest or brightest, but keep in mind the draw is the food :). That said, I wouldn't call anything unsanitary or dirty relative to most Chinese groceries in the area.

Update: Tofu prices now raised. :( Is it seasonal or for good?? I've seen cheaper elsewhere so I guess the search begins again...

I have been craving for tofu pudding and soy milk since I've moved to San Francisco from Hong Kong. I thought I would gave it a try today and so I've bought soy milk and tofu pudding for a try. Firstly, the soy milk is quite watery. I've had a really good soy milk from Japan and Hong Kong before which the texture of the soy milk should be a little thick if it has more percentage of soy in it. However, the soy milk from this place is flavour less, and watery, I'm pretty disappointed about it. For the tofu pudding, I couldn't wait to open the lid to give it a try. However, once I put it in my mouth, I could taste the sourness. All the memories of tofu pudding has flash back in my head immediately, should tofu pudding sour ? I've had tofu pudding in my whole life in Asia and I don't remember if it was sour. I don't want to believe in it because I really miss tofu pudding and soy milk. I don't want to break the hope of finding a good place. However, I know I have to keep looking for a better place or just learn to make it myself.

I've been customer for their freshly made tofu sold in trays near the cash register for many years and have never had any problems with the product. I recently purchased packaged tofu two different times at the store in the last three months and when opened the tofu was spoiled with a sour smell and taste. In both cases, the expiration date did not expire for over three weeks. I wonder whether the refrigerator was not sufficiently cold enough to store this delicate product. Beware.
