My brother banks with Wells. This is the most convenient location for me to help him with transactions, mainly deposits. From late March 2020 until late summer that year, Wells closed a large number of branches throughout the City. My coworker who lives in the East Bay often went to branches close to her home, likely more logistically convenient with drive up access as well as a parking lot. Banking in Chinatown, North Beach, and the Financial District can be challenging for that reason, call it the SF lifestyle. After running another errand to the neighborhood post office a little more than a block away, I stopped here to make a deposit. There were three people (two parties) ahead of me so the wait was not very long. As I stood in line, I couldn't help but let my wandering eyes roam and notice the Chinatown mural next to me ( It is a nice historic piece and, though the words were small for the legend ( for this mural, I made sure to take a photo of both so I could admire it when I got home. There was only one teller window open, likely because it was around noon. Again, it was not a long wait. By the time I reached the head of the line, there were three other people standing behind me in line. All told, I was in and out of the bank in about ten minutes. It was also nice to see this branch celebrate the neighborhood's community roots with the mural instead of the typical stagecoach theme that's long been Wells Fargo's symbol.

My first time going to this branch/China town. I go in, I'm standing in line, probably the 5th or 6th person. This lady asked a couple of people as she's walking down the line, what type of transaction they're doing, they tell her.... She gets to me and ask me, I told her, I was going to get cashiers checks. She says, we'll it's the day after the holiday and it's lunch time.... I was confused. I'm like and? She repeated it, I'm like okay.... It's like she was inviting me to leave the bank because it could be some what of a wait. I've noticed the banks in China town don't seem to think non Chinese people should be banking there. I stood in line for less than 10 minutes, handled my business and left. I'm not sure why she thought it was necessary to tell me that????

I have been dealing with a fraud issue for months now and Mei was such a helpful and patient banker! She really went above and beyond to make sure I was taken care of and get my issues resolved. All of the bankers were very friendly, as well!

I was a customer since 1970. you'd think that would give me some status. I now am moving all of my accounts to Chase. not waiting for their third strike

I think the main reason why they have their staffers greeting customers is because they might think if a customer does not respond back in kind, there must be something fishy. I could be reading into it too much. Another thing, only wealth customers are treated much better. $$$$$. Cultural identity is very important because this is a community bank.

pros...glad that they have a bank and atm here for Wells Fargo customers. they do have an atm, yes just one. don't know how the service is inside, but the atm works just find. and when the bart station is finished, this place will be even easier to get to. just more people i bet. cons...wow, this place is really quite difficult to get to from the portsmouth parking garage. just all these people to run over before you can get there. and to that one older chinese gentleman, please take you money from the atm and leave or move out of the way. it is not nice to linger in front of the atm machine and then count your money there well after your transaction is completed. as there was only one working atm machine in front of the bank. thanks for your atm etiquette.

Great staff here...very reliable and friendly...always willing to help you from the moment you walk in the door. They even have a dog biscuit for when my puppy runs errands with me (my dog looooves this branch)! Can't say I've been to a nicer neighborhood branch anywhere else!

Nice location for a Wells Fargo Bank along the Chinatown corridor. This branch is among one of the many banks in Chinatown and it is an amenity added for convenience. Some of the Yelpers pointed out that 99.9% of the dining establishments and grocery stores operate on a cash only basis. I came in here several times to break apart a $5, $10, $20, $50 and a $100 bill. Overall, the staff working at this branch seemed very friendly. Of the times I came in to take care of such a transaction, I was in and out of the bank in 5 minutes. I must come clean here to confess that I absolutely love the customer service. When I walked in here for the first time, I didn't know what the customer service would be like! But it turns out that the staff tellers here were very nice, polite and professional. This is something every customer look for when they walk into any bank which by the way, these are some of the factors that significantly determines customer service excellence. There is one ATM right in front! Every bank has its own set of pros and cons as well! Certainly, it is true to the fact that there are some very rude bank tellers but there are bank tellers who very nice and professional! Some of the banks in Chinatown & North Beach/Telegraph Hill area include: - Bank of America - Wells Fargo Bank - Citibank - HSBC Bank (Hongkong & Shanghai Banking Corporation) - East West Bank - Bank of the Orient - US Bank & - Bank of the West

This is the friendliest bank branch I have ever been to. This morning, I went in to deposit a check. The person at the first desk greeted me. The person at the second desk greeted. Before I even made it to the lineup area, the person at the counter greeted me and said she would help me. She was very professional and friendly. The transaction was completed in a jiffy. Great all around experience.

I was walking aimlessly for a bank cause I needed cash for my dim sum cravings.. what is it w/ the cash only policy? Anyway- thank goodness I found this place.. I was not willing to pay a fee for using another bank or street ATM machine.

Not all tellers understand and speak English well. I asked one teller to explain what all her questions were about a simple withdrawal. I felt uncomfortable that she was yelling my account information in Cantonese to a teller further back. I asked that she discuss my account in English so that I can understand what she is doing to my account. She responded by saying "I withdraw" but began yelling to the other teller in Cantonese again. I asked to speak to the manager or someone else who spoke better English. When I told the Manager that she was yelling my account information in another language, he asked me to take it easy. She was standing behind him and she was offended that I didn't believe her English was adequate. In a loud voice, she said "This is China town, you are the special one in China town". The manager calmed her down, and said that I should "just relax". Interesting, I wasn't upset until she told me that I was the "special one", I just wanted service in English for my transaction. Moral to the story, go to another branch. You get better service here if you speak Cantonese. If you have 3 minutes to walk, then go to the branch on Columbus and Stockton. They are pleasant and speak English, Cantonese, and Spanish.
