I had been going to this pharmacy for 20 years. There were ups & downs. The turnover rate was high. Mistakes were made. But things got fixed. Especially when Tommy was the store manager. That all changed when Tommy quit (remember that high turnover rate?)“D” (to keep it anonymous), was already a particularly unfriendly person prior to becoming manager. Big mistake, Walgreens. Huge!“D” gave me misinformation about taking my prescription. He provided the incorrect tools to administer the medication, which caused bodily harm and mental anguish. He advised me that mixing the medication incorrectly is “fine, because there’s plenty of medication in there.” (This contradicted my doctor’s instructions AND the medication’s website). My doctor was appalled when they heard how I was being treated there & demanded that I switch pharmacies.“D” is combative, a stickler to the rules (his employees’ quote - not mine), & cares more about protocol than he does his patients’ well-being. (Again, a quote from an employee).I even witnessed a customer yelling at “D”, telling him he will never return as he stormed out of the store. But it gets worse. After seeking help from Walgreens Corporate, “D” must’ve been advised. Because the ONLY 2 other Community Pharmacies in the city, who were once willing to transfer my prescriptions, later decided that they couldn’t & directed me right back to 4129 18th Street.BOTH pharmacy managers at 45 Castro Street & 2262 Market Street initially were willing to transfer my prescriptions, only to change their minds a couple days later - sending me back to 4129 18th Street. Coincidence? I think not.In fact, Market Street began the transfer on Thursday, & when I called Monday to see what progress was made, I was advised that they had “refused the transfer and sent it back to 4129 18th Street.”I asked the reason why, & was told, “because there’s nothing (our) pharmacy can offer you that 18th Street doesn’t already.”I asked who made the decision & was told it was their store manager. These details barely scratch the surface of his treatment towards patients.Trust me. “D” is vindictive. And while I’ve been advised that there is a new person working there who is above him, he is still there. And as long as he is - I *HIGHLY* suggest you take your business elsewhere.

They're especially useful if you're searching for detailed product details. The employees of this drugstore deserved a lot of praise. They delivered excellent service at a decent cost. Keep up the excellent job!

This review is long overdue as this Walgreens has been providing my compound since 2016. Did you know this Walgreens is the _only_ Walgreens compounding pharmacy for Northern California? The service from the Pharm Techs and Pharm D.s has been OUTSTANDING. I normally call well ahead, but I've had the occasional emergency that was handled with kindness and professionalism. I've had such good service that I've wanted to stop by and bring chocolates or something, but don't get to the city that often. Thank you Walgreens Compound Pharmacy. You all rock! m/

A murder ouside this Walgreens and a physical asssault on a customer by a youth in there for no reason. The distroct mgr wont hire an armed guard because it will "make the location look bad"? WTF?

Love the 24-hour pharmacy, but sometimes the lines get a bit long. Tip: Manage your prescriptions on the app. You can automate your refills and check prescription status without having to call in.

So, this is a weird one. It's a Walgreens, but not really a real Walgreens. It's just the pharmacy... I don't understand why it exists, since there's a full Walgreens across the street. But the other Walgreens is a nightmare, and this is a relative sanctuary.

This is by far the best Walgreens in the city (also one of its busiest). Both the store and pharmacy are open 24 hours, so you can pick up meds or munchies at any time of the day or night. The staff are friendly, and your privacy is of utmost concern when waiting at the pharmacy. Lines for the front registers can sometimes be long, so checkout at the personal care register in the back if you can.
