Update 11/18: the anti flea drops they sold me literally burn my dog skin, I needed to bring her to the hospital for urgent careFirst review after a few visits: Very disappointed by the customer service, depends on who you talk to so i won’t go back. In addition they don’t seem to know very well their products. Fair selection though.

been coming here for my dog's toys, food, treat & general care items for 11+ years. staff always greets us when we walk in, sometimes offers my bratty mutt a treat, and they don't overdo it. they even noticed that i had been the only one coming in with my dog for several months, and inquired about my partner who passed away at the end of 2020. shopping there with our dog was one of the last things he was able to do. very thoughtful folks, and we live right around the corner so i never had to worry too much about them on that errand. yeah i guess it's a bit pricey. not really though compared to other similar independent, non-chain type pet food specialty stores. they have really high quality dog & cat food of all kinds, from kibbles and freeze dried to fresh frozen varieties, from supplemental to full spectrum nutrition, and a good majority of it from small, family owned businesses that have a focus on producing healthy, nutritious food for animals. the common thread seems to be a philosophy that considers environmental impact, and the health, happiness, and longevity of family critters. i find it compatible with my own belief that there is really no such thing as "dog food" or "people food", there is only food. that comes with a hefty price tag just about anywhere, especially in the bay area. i'll trash that concept some other time. and i hate to come off as elitist here, because i have no such means, but you're paying for conscientious, thoughtful, real food here vs. the vile garbage you can pick up on the cheap at the corporate pet food stores and human grocery stores (note: 2 more concepts to trash). it's just worth it. to me. there are alternatives, such as doing the work and taking the time to cook meals for the animals in the family as well. something i definitely do, and recommend if you have the time. it's the best way to love your pets, and what you get in return i couldn't describe. only if you do it, or (probably) have actual kids would you even know what i'm talking about. relax, moms & dads. i know there's no comparing the two, but you know it, so yeah. what the eff was i on about? oh yeah. you can get all that here. i think that rates a gold star & a smiley face.

Even tho I don't live in SF anymore, I still like to stop by once in a while :) This time, I picked up a new toy (paper grass) for my Clementine and she definitely enjoys it as a great addition to her "crinkly corner" ?

This is a wonderful store with a great selection of pet food, toys, medicines, etc. They also have certain services that they provide as well. Call to inquire. The customer service is the best!

I had an appointment nearby so today I was just walking past this pet supply store. I dropped by for some cat and dog food since I needed it anyways. The staff helped me out quickly and showed me where the raw food was. I picked up some cat food too. So, I usually buy the Instinct raw patties for my dog but they didn't have it in stock. They are able to special order anything for you ahead of time though. I feel lucky because they had the Instinct raw beef bites. I got the last bag! It's basically the same food that my dog usually eats, except the form looks different is all(patties vs bites). I got the largest bag of their beef bites for $36.99 before tax! It's the first time I've bought Instinct raw for less than $40, so that's pretty great! For sure I'll come by when I'm in the area again. Thanks Village Pets!
