Save yourself and go somewhere else. I came here after reading all these great reviews for a trim of my hair. I’m not usually particular with haircuts but have to say this is the worst haircut I ce ever had. the hairdresser did not understand what I wanted or my type of hair and gave me a puffy haircut. She wasn’t thoughtful when cutting, snapping off giant chunks when usually hairdressers have a bit more attention to detail. I’m left with a terrible haircut, was in and out in less than 30 min and paid 65$ without tip.
I thought it would be worth it to save a bit on expensive haircuts but save yourself some trouble and skip this one, just as expensive as other hairdressers without the quality and care for your hair.

I try to avoid writing negative reviews but this was the worst salon experience I’ve ever had. I called a week prior to make an appointment, letting them know I have curly hair and was looking for a healthy trim. I was told $60 for a cut/wash and $65 for a blow dry, and I could decide there. Sounded great. I showed up for my 1pm appointment and the owner (only hairstylist) was still with another client, so I waited 10-15 minutes. No problem. She looks at my hair and decides to do a dry cut, which I’ve had done before with a wash + final touch ups after since I have curly hair, so didn’t think anything of it. I indicated more than once that my hair was dirty, yet after the dry cut she only sprayed water in my hair and added some gel. When she could tell I was confused that there was no wash, she said that would be extra, and then her next client walked in for a 1:30 appointment, so I felt like I couldn’t take any more time. I was charged $60 for less than 20 minutes in the chair, and my scalp was flaking from product buildup by the time I washed it later that day, and found some unevenness in the cut. If you want any professionalism and care I unfortunately would recommend you look elsewhere.

She took the time to make sure she knew what I wanted before starting, and talked to me about changes and suggestions she thought would look best for me. Very skilled and a lovely friendly person. One of the best cuts I've had, and for a really good price. Found my new favorite spot!

Great haircuts! Have gone through so many stylists whose cuts last very little, but Ann always makes sure your style is timeless and low-maintenance. Quiet area with a friendly owner :)

On Saturday, I called in for an appointment , and Ann returned my call the same day. I said that I was flexible on the day/time, and she said that she could give me a haircut the same day at 6pm. I said that was fine.However, she called me later, asking to push back my appointment to 6:15. I still said that was fine. When I arrived, she was still not ready, and made me wait until 6:35pm before I started my haircut.At the time, I thought that was this fine. I understand that haircuts take a variable amount of time.Unfortunately, she then gave me the worst haircut I’ve ever had. I showed her pictures of a previous haircut that I had, and she did not cut in the same way at all. She cut my hair for about 10 minutes and then said I was done. My sideburns were literally uneven by the end of it. Although she was very kind, I was extremely disappointed in the result. I legitimately had received a better haircut at the Supercuts close by.I felt like she wanted to rush through my haircut because it was close to her closing time. I would’ve been fine coming in on a different day, and I think I would’ve received a better haircut if I did. But that doesn’t excuse this haircut. I will not be returning.

Ann is AMAZING and I absolutely love my hair when she's finished with it!!! I've been going to Ann for years, and not only is she the kindest lady, but she is a very talented artist when it comes to hair! I usually do color and cut and she always has the best recommendations to support my low maintenence preferences (i.e. so hair growing out blends beautifully). I highly recommend Ann for her lovely personality and services!!

Ann is amazing. She runs Urban Soul Salon solely, and her goal is to create a quiet oasis in the city. The location in the heart of Noe is adorable, and once inside it's cozy and calm.& then the highlight: her haircuts!!! Ann is so knowledgable and talented. If you sit in her chair and ask her opinion, she'll give you her recommendations for your cut based on your face shape/height/shoulders etc. I trust her recs with my life!! I won't get my hair cut by anyone else - she always does such an awesome job and each haircut is my favorite yet :)

Super thanks Ann for dying my hair back to black. She was also very kind and shared her knowledge with me about my choice of hair dye products that were causing my hair to become redder and redder.It's been almost two weeks since Ann dyed my hair. I got a lot of compliments and everyone said it's a truly well done! Definitely recommended Urban Soul Salon ?

Nice person. Showed up for my appt and was told I was not in book despite being told this was the only time she could squeeze me in on a Monday holiday. She asked me to come back in 20 min. Asked for long layers (as minimal layering, keeping it long), straight across bottom as possible. I thought it was clear I wasn't asking for layered hair with extreme variance of length because she was saying she couldn't do face framing layers because it was too short (compared to longest piece of hair). Then it turned out the back of my head had layers 3-4 inches difference and it was terrible. Took months to grow out. Unclear if she cut off a piece too short - mistake and then just had to intersperse layers to even out. She's supposedly known for hair coloring. Also was told after it was more expensive because she washed my hair and I could've been given dry cut but I had asked on the phone before and was told it was not an option. Cheaper than other places in Noe/Mission ($60) but not worth growing out the mess.

4.5/5 ! urban soul salon is my go-to salon in the city for an affordable cut that including wash & blow dry. the woman who runs the salon is so sweet and you just have to call and make an appointment, super easy. i pay about $60 for a women's haircut which i think is solid for the city, especially in noe valley, for the quality of the haircut i get. i have gone about 2-3 times already and it'll continue to be my spot for good service and price :)

Anne really knows how to cut Asian hair--she is the only person I have been to who can give me voluminous and noticeable layers without it looking stringy, and the price is amazing! $65 for a ladies haircut (before tip) in San Francisco is less than half what I was paying in Palo Alto, so Anne is now my go-to hair stylist!Service: Haircut
