Music is great, food too. Service is terrible. Crabby bartenders and waitress.

It has been a year since I updated my Review. I still love this small club at the corner of Belden St. Daniel L no longer teaches there but I go to Maggie and Slava. They are amazing and highly reccomended. The locker room is much nicer and I got free tennis balls (I mainly use it for back roll) and athletic wipes.

Hands down one of the best workouts I've ever experienced. All of the instructors are top notch, energetic and are fun to work out with. I've been going to Rowclub for almost a year now; I have never had a negative experience and I feel amazing.

I like the fact that the Row Club instructors are very passionate about training students how to be fit and a structured technique to rowing fitness. All of the instructors have a keen insight and are pro rowers. Row Club is very local to The Financial District and has an easy scheduling calendar. If you want to be fit... try Row Club. It is a very good mix of people with very good quality row machines and work out routines.

I don't know about you, but I've grown to really fear row machines. The trainers and coaches I've worked with don't just ask me to row, no, they're all about pushing my physical endurance to punishing limits that transform my perception of the low-lying sled and pulley machine to schoolyard bully. I suppose I have stereotypes for every machine in the gym. Treadmills? Really bad kissers, a lame first date. Rowing machines? Run. Hide. He'll throw me in the dumpster. So I was pretty hesitant to try an introductory class, even at the incredibly low, low introductory price of -- that's right folks -- ten dollars. RowClub turned out to be far smaller and, well, just uncomplicated, than I anticipated: it's a basement with some rowing apparati and free weights, that's it. But Dino, our instructor, had this really disarming easy-going smile that immediately made me more comfortable with the 45 minutes of punishment I signed up for, and as it turned out, I didn't endure a moment of pain. Huge props, Dino. While elements of the workout were elevated, he was anti-drill instructor, encouraging, super concentrated on form over quantity, yep, I liked this workout. The sessions on the machine were balanced with simple super light weight standing exercises, nice. I find it hard to believe I'd regularly make rowing my routine of choice, but I'll definitely return for another round the next time I'm in the Bay area. (And I'll pay upfront, Dino. Sorry 'bout the delay, yo.)

Maybe I'm spoiled from the studios in NYC, or maybe I'm a glutton for punishment, but I felt like I didn't get a thorough workout in the least when I dropped in this morning. Maggie, while AWESOME and motivating as an instructor/person, was not challenging enough. In addition, the class felt super truncated/short, and I think all in all we were only on the erg for 10 minutes??? I know we were doing HIIT and the sprints were intense, but seriously, I was really craving at least a solid 20-25 minutes of quality rowing in a 45 minute class. I expect some crosstrain/mat work, but not over half the class of it. I think I need to come back and take a RowCamp class with another instructor to get the full experience, and then maybe I'll bump up the rating, but overall I felt like it wasn't challenging enough. It's great for people new to rowing and who need help with form, but for more seasoned sweat junkies, I'd look elsewhere.

Truth be told, I was never big in to rowing. Enter: RowClub When I first came to RowClub about a month ago, Slava and the couple of women that were in the class were welcoming and warm. He was excited to have me in the class and gave me a proper form and rowing tutorial. The attention he paid to my rowing form was unexpected and I got such an intense workout from this machine that I was sore for a few days. I have been back a few times since and always leave here feeling equally challenged and sore from the workout! This has become part of my weekly routine!

So Dino Was amazing. Did he row class and Dino was Very intuitive and without interrupting the class went at different speeds for each of us relative to our levels. He was helpful, reminded us of techniques and provided hints we can use at home as well. I loved the 7am slot and hope to do it more often. Studio was clean and convenient. Very affordable parking across the corner from here in the early morning time.

I've taken this class a few times with Daniel on my lunch break. You can always expect a KILLER workout. He's an awesome instructor and will help you make adjustments during the class to make sure you have the correct form. Thanks Dan for always pushing me and helping me get a good sweat in! RowClub ROCKS!

This place is awesome. I dropped in a couple of times while I was here for work and really enjoyed the quality of coaching I received. I do crossfit primarily so I've been exposed to a little rowing, but not much from a technique point of view. I loved all the instructors I had, especially Johan ! The TechRow class was awesome!!

I am a newbie to rowing and the instructor Robbie is so patient, technical and fun to learn from. He breaks it down and makes sure you follow along correctly. I had a great workout on my upper body, core and my legs/butt!This is tugged inside Belden Lane so it might not be very obvious to people but I found it through ClassPass and really enjoys my classes here. If you want to try something different, rowing is a very good strength workout that will make you sweat!

I am not a gym person, but I don't mind fitness classes. I just discovered RowClub about 6 weeks ago and I'm in love. I've only taken Johan's classes, so I am not sure about any other instructors, but I'm told they are all great. Johan is always very welcoming, attentive & technical. I've never been on a rowing machine before, but 10 minutes in, I was very comfortable; tired, but comfortable. If you think that this class is just about you rowing for 45 mins, it's not. Johan mixes things up with different intervals, races, drills and floor exercises. You're never bored and leave feeling like you've accomplished a lot.The gym itself is a bit small, but it has everything you need; a bathroom, towels, water, storage cubes, weights, foam rollers, mats and of course the row machines. Since the gym is on the smaller side, classes are small. This has good points and bad. I like smaller classes because then I get more feedback. However, I've missed a class due to it reaching capacity.I do RowClub via ClassPass, so I am limited to the amount of classes a month. I like RowClub so much that I'm considering signing up as an actual remember in order to take more classes. If you've been thinking of trying a row class, please consider this gym, it'll get you hooked!
