I made a pilgrimage to SF many years after reading Jack Kerouac's Dharma Bums, visiting the museum was quite emotional for me. There is a lot of knowledge in the museums funky exhibit, giving me a greater insight into the Beatnik era. I loved learning more about the women of the time. It's a truly unique place that feels like a time machine. Thank you to Brandon for a warm welcome and book suggestions.

This is a must see museum in SF, especially if you’re in the north beach area and remotely interested in American literature! :,) in fact, I think anyone visiting SF that wants to know some history about the city should absolutely go! the guy working there is SO knowledgeable and fun to chat with as well! Lots of books that are laid out in an organized manner and the coolest prints! The museum is laid out in the best way to tell the story of the beat generation! 12/10!!! Thank you Brandon <3

A superb gem, opposite the infamous City Lights.
A fab bookshop with truly knowledgable and passionate staff ... the collection is stunning.
I urge you to visit and marvel at the world of post war (WWII) America.

Great place and must see in SF - highly recommended… the whole area is amazing- with a genius loci is indescribable. Museum itself have many original memorabilia- and indeed books. Chap inside is very knowledgeable and friendly and offered me some good guide and chat over the beat generation and local history. Worth stop, listen, see and enjoy the moment. Highly recommended.

I love this place. We will go back there again soon. This is a cool little museum with a lot of beat history. I am not a buff on it, and I enjoyed the exhibits. Also, it's in a book/record store which I thought was pretty cool. The guy behind the register that day was also really friendly and helpful, knowledgeable about the Bay Area, too.

Interesting shop in the front selling books and memorabilia from the Beat generation. I couldn't get into the museum though. There was no one in line, but the person behind the counter was carrying on a personal conversation and despite making eye contact with me, didn't acknowledge the fact that I was waiting to enter. After 10 minutes, I gave up and left. I will try again in the future and update this review if I manage to get in.

Absolutely amazing collection of books. I didn't even explore the museum part and was wildly impressed. The worker spoke to every costumer in line with incredible literary connections. We all bought very different books but he/they brought all of us to life, individually, by speaking to the authors and philosophers and social change agents we specifically adored. Absolutely amazing.

Spoke to Brandon for so long. He’s a great person to talk to and I had a lot of fun at the museum because of his hospitality and generosity. Everything about this little space is special in some way. Glad it exists and glad I got to visit.
