Way more fun than I expected! Call ahead to make a reservation so you're not waiting day of. It takes a good amount of time to choose your piece and glazes so maybe think about the color combination ahead of time. I would recommend going for a smaller or more simple option first to get used to the painting and then come back again for a larger piece!

Very reasonably priced studio, great selection of colors. There isn't a lot of instruction. You get to pick your pieces to paint, and they have a big variety of options. I did a plate but they have lots of pots, shapes, dishes, mugs, you name it. I'll try to update my review once I pickup my plate.

Perfect day date! I visited Terra Mia with 2 of my girlfriends. We were looking for something wholesome to do other than the usual gossip over drinks. We arrived around 11:30 am on a Friday without a reservation. Lucky for us there was no wait. Everything was explained to us clearly. Select a ceramic, paint, brushes, and you're good to go! We spent a couple of hours painting, and enjoying each others company. They have indoor and outdoor seating. Studio rate is $15pp for the day. Yes, you can stay and paint all day. Cost of the ceramic will vary depending on what you paint. You also get a small discount on studio time if you follow them on IG. I painted a catch all dish and the total cost of my visit was about $35. Not bad at all! They're located in Noe Valley which has a bunch of eateries and places to grab coffee afterwards. I plan to come back with my teen very soon!

i was looking around for where to celebrate my 27th birthday and my roommate suggested we do something fun and wholesome like ceramic painting! i was in love with the idea and we live in noe valley so have passed terra mia multiple times prior. i called them to inquire about their private event classes and the woman who spoke to me on the phone was super helpful! need a minimum of 6 people and a max of 14 for the small back room to be reserved. $15 per person fee + the cost of whatever ceramic piece they choose to paint. they take a $100 deposit for the reservation and the rest of the cost after the event in-person. we had the room for 2 hours at this price. it's BYOB but no food!they made coordination super easy and instructions were clear. we had such a blast just laughed together having fun, painting, and celebrating. best bday idea!

I've come here 2x in the past 3 months and had a lot of fun both times. It's a relaxing weekend afternoon activity. I spent 1 hour here the first time and 5 hours the second time. I love that they have a wide selection of different colored glazes and ceramics to choose from (e.g. plates, planters, mugs, napkin holders, ring holders, boxes, etc.).It does get a little stuffy inside, but they have a small outdoor seating area in the back and on the sidewalk. I would just call ahead of time to check if they have any big events that day (you can put your name down to reserve a table). Otherwise, usually walk-in is fine. How it works:1. Pick a table2. Grab brushes, cup w/ water, sponge, paper towels, pick out glazes (they also have pencils, practice tiles, and banding wheels if you want)3. Wet the sponge and wipe down the ceramic so you have a smooth canvas4. Start sketching out your design then go in with glaze or just go in directly with the glaze 5. Take a picture of your finished piece6. Check outNo. 2 pencil will burn off when it is fired, so you don't need to worry about pencil marks. However, do not erase since the the eraser scraps will interfere with the glaze. Pricing:Fixed $15 Studio Fee for AdultsFixed Firing Fee ~$1-2Variable Item Fee ~$16-30 (most items fall around this range)Pickup: Usually, it takes a few days for your piece to be ready. They will hold your piece for up to 3 months.Pro-Tip/Fun Fact:- Usually they have promotions on their studio time on their website, currently if you follow them on social media you get 20% off the studio time (terramia.net/10percent.h…)- Sometimes they sell people's ceramics that haven't been picked up for $4

My friends and I spent almost 3 hours here painting pottery and it was such a fun and relaxing activity to do together on a rainy day. I love that they have so many different objects to choose from and so many different shades of paint colors and brushes that you can use. They also have some tiles/paper you can use to practice your design before you start working on your actual pottery! I would recommend doing at least 3 coats of paint otherwise it may come out a bit streaky after glazing. Also once they're glazed the colors come out much darker shiny rather than light and chalky! The price depends on the pottery you choose, I think my large mug was ~$35 total but I feel like it was worth it considering the time we spent on the activity and we also made something we can take home!

If you want to paint ceramics, go here. They have a huge variety of colors and I have painted candle holders, cups, pet bowls, etc. It’s a great place to make homemade kitchenware and other things.

Came here as a birthday surprise from my three other girlfriends. Upon walking in, I was overwhelmed with the selection of items to paint. I literally stood there for at least 10 minutes trying to figure out what I want to paint and bring home. I ended up with the mini pot and spoon to match my pots at home. We chose to sit outside in an opened area behind the shop so the fumes wouldn’t be too much and fresh air on a nice day. The back was conveniently located nearby a sink so we could wash-up afterwards. There’s so many colors and paint brushes, too, so don’t be worried colors or supplies running low. I fell in love with the speckled paint and used it all over my pot. My friend is the point of contact and were suppose to have heard from them Thursday for pick-up (we painted on a Monday) — so a three day turnaround but cannot wait to see my final product! Price for the items painted are reasonable too (my pot was around $20-25 dollars). I think the total was around $175 for 4 people but was a nice time to spend with my friends doing something different :)

Came here for a friends birthday and had a very fun experience! Would recommend coming here for a date or a smaller group hangout activity.Terra Mia has a lot of variety in their pieces that you can choose to paint such as plates, cups, ring holders, decorative pieces, and more. They have many paint colors as well. The service is also great. They allowed my friend to host the birthday group in a private room and allowed us to bring in drinks. The staff was also helpful in helping us find the colors we wanted.Tip: take a picture of what you painted! When you pick it up, you can show the staff the picture which makes it easier for them to find

Super cute studio with lots of ceramics to choose from! Came here for a friend's birthday and loved being in the private room out in the garden. The staff was friendly and enthusiastic in explaining the concept and helping supply more paints. In addition to the price of the pieces, there is a studio fee (half off on the first Saturday of the month!) Our painted pieces were ready after a few days and pickup was a breeze. This is the perfect activity to do with a date or friends, plus you get to have your own painted masterpiece to keep for your memories!
