I opted for the Paul Mitchell menu. Supposed to include shampoo, rinse, head massage (guess the shampoo counts as that), and hot towel on the face.
Never saw a hot towel but that was okay since I showered & shaved shortly before getting to the shop.
The shampoo and rinse left my collar and part of the back of my shirt very wet. The barber tried blow drying it but that would take a long time. Fortunately it’s a warm day so I left with a wet collar. It was a cold water shampoo too. Again, warm day so ok.
In and out in 30 minutes. $51 + tip so about $65.
Haircut - not the skill and quality I am used to in Japan. In Japan I get a scissors cut (never an electric clipper at my barber there), And shoulder and back massage by an electric massager. And a straight razor trim around the ears and neck.
Without a shampoo it costs 3,200 yen. About $23 and no tip required nor expected. Add a shampoo for about ¥2,000 more.
I’m sure no barber in San Francisco can match the price and they especially can’t match the quality and skills of my Japan barber.
