The San Francisco Mercantile is the type of shop that puts a smile on your face when you walk in the door. The displays are pretty, and even if you didn't know that you needed to purchase something when you walked into the store, your heart will feel happier and lighter for venturing in.

This is where I go if I want to buy some SF-themed knick-knacks to give as gifts. They have a good selection of items across all price ranges. Parking is a pain (this is the Haight, after all).

They hate kids here. As soon as I walked in with my 3 year old, the woman working greeted us by saying "there are many breakable things here" then followed me around like some unwelcome criminal. Don't go if you have a family because you won't be welcome.

If you are traveling in Haight-Ashbury street, this is the location you need to pick extraordinary local souvenirs. Starting from Golden Gate Bridge symbolic ornaments, t-shirts, tote bags to locally made candles with interesting scenes( fresh cut grass, dirt, HYW 1 smell, hot dog…freshly baked bread)Prices are reasonable for location and to compare other touristy areas.Enjoy ?

True to the name great SF inspired gifts if you're looking to get a momento for someone from your visit. If you're looking for something else special, they have adorable jewelry, cute art and around the end of the year have very beautiful holiday ornaments.

The store offered a great selection of items you will use yourself and love to give to others. The staff was attentive and offered suggestions. My example was a San Fran skyline pillow that I could not bring home with me but was given the website where they get their stock. It is a work of art. Highly recommend making the time to stop in!

I’ve never posted a negative review of anywhere before but I really feel like management should talk with their staff, hoping that results from this post. The store is very cute. We were having a wonderful time shopping in the district until coming to San Francisco Mercantile. The lady working there was so rude and mean. I literally left crying. I understand it’s a hard time in retail but it is for everybody right now.
