A new experience, very striking and pleasant, you take your pearl out of the shell!!! and it is quite a show that they put together and celebrate for you. The price for the pearl is good. You already know the rest: the ring, brooch, etc.

My daughter was interested in cutting open a pearl for herself and we were not disappointed… she got a nice and shiny pearl… Pierre 39 has lot to offer and something one can do while buying souvenirs and before heading to Golden Gate ??.. as a matter of fact we are carrying a great souvenir for ourselves now … very friendly staff at the counter

Gimmicky tourist trap. I should've listened to my husband and read the reviews of these predatory places, both on Yelp and on the jewelry message boards.I just wanted to buy a pearl because I collect gemstones and I SAID this upfront, but the sales people are incredibly pushy and want you to spends hundreds of dollars on their overpriced settings. When they found out I wasn't interested in buying their garbage settings, their attitude became very cold and dismissive. I was so embarrassed about and disgusted with the experience. Unfortunately when I went online I found I wasn't alone in my experience. These places should be closed for good or at least don't make their employees think that their jobs are on the line if they don't make a jewelry sale. Now I'm stuck with a pearl with a drilled hole that I never wanted mounted and I just want to throw it away because I get so disgusted looking at it. Probably the worst experience of my San Francisco trip.

Amazing. They are so kind and courteous and make you feel so comfortable, wether you’re buying a pearl or watching others get theirs. It’s an amazing experience and their prices are awesome. Definitely one of my fav things to do when I’m in the city!!

Very very very pricey but worth it. It was a great experience. I love love love pearls and don't mind spending money on good ones. However the experience was special and unique here. You get to pick your own oyster and they make a jewelry out of the pearl you get. Mine was specially big with a green hue color to it. I loved it. Of course I bought a necklace and earring set to go with my ring. I also bought blue pearl earrings for my sister. It was a baby boy shower gift for her. Although pricey, it was worth it. I love that everything was real and natural.

My family and I came to San Francisco because part of our group came from out of state. We came across this shop and saw that it was only $16 for a pearl. So, we thought, "why not?"Keep in mind, there is NO OTHER ADVERTISEMENT. Just "$16 for a pearl!"After both my little sisters, cousin and I opened a pearl, the lady is telling us how we can put it on jewelry. To looking at all our options for a pendant, ring and earrings, and getting excited to getting hit with the prices after the fact, was a complete slap in our faces. It went from a $16 excited experience to a $200-900 experience. But it didn't stop there, the lady said "since you paid for over $200, I'll buy you one myself." So, my mom picks a pearl and the lady slaps another $70.What was that?? This experience is one of the biggest scams I've had because it felt like the rug was swept from under my feet. But I can guarantee that I will spread the word about how this place is a scam and is in the end, selling cheap jewelry for way more than what they're worth.

(Please read all the way through, a lot of info about this place here) We went to San fransisco with family from out of state today, we had a great time as always. We walked by this stand just to browse of the ear rings and as usual to explore. The lady working the counter today, June 24th 2022 at around 3 p.m. pulled us in with a conversation about how we could open an oyster out of a tank and get a guaranteed pearl. We proceeded to open a few oysters after the strategic ringing of the bell after the chant and count down to excite us and get our adrenaline pumping. After opening 4 oysters the lady asked us what we wanted to do with them, turn them into ear rings, necklaces or rings. She then proceeded to show us options. I was standing back behind our group because I wanted to see her in action because I have been in sales for over a decade, and it's always interesting for me to watch others flow, but this was a straight up dirty sales practice. After having everyone chose what they wanted their pearl to be held in she hit them with the cost. As an avid sales man I 100% understand that you have to sell the product, you have to build the value in it and you have to tap into peoples emotions, but the way that she very smoothly mentioned the extra hardware that the pearls could sit in without mentioning for a second that they were extra threw me off. But what got me to jump on here to write this review is that she clearly told a member in our group, "since you spent over $200 I'm going to give you a free one". To which in my eyes meant she got a free pearl and a free ring or pearl cage, given that as a group we spent over $800 (mind you for an assumed $80 opening of oysters) , she proceeds to put the pearl in a pearl cage, hands it to my group member and says that's going to be $60 for the cage. As I stood there I was absolutely blown away that she was doing this. A few things to mention are that we told the lady that our family members were from out of state, we are not, we frequent San fransisco , I noticed her body language change when we said they were from out of state, she cranked up her sales pitch and pitched the more expensive stuff(without mentioning the price or that it was even an extra cost), she focused on the people who she knew were paying based on their body language as well, I can tell she has done this for a really long time because she has mastered the style, and after reading the other reviews it seems as if this business allows their sales team to do this. I 100% understand that we all had the ability to say no, nobody forced us to buy any of this, but it breaks my heart that she went about it the way she did. After talking to everyone, everyone feels silly. There was a big sign that said $16.99 to open a oyster and guaranteed Pearl (which by the way you should Google how they get these pearls in this oyster, that's another story), we we walked up expecting to pay $16.99 per person for 4 people, and it ended up being close to $1,000 dollars after the strategy she implemented on us. I will be taking our jewelry to get tested to ensure it is the material we were told. We are upset that they couldn't be straight up and up front with prices, we might have still gone for it, but the way they what felt like cornered our group and made them commit and say yes so many times was a straight psychological maze, to get the person with the credit card to swipe with no issue. Please retrain your staff, pay attention to all these complains because rating are everything now days, and the few 5 stars you guys have are clearly workers or family members. for anyone that has read this far and is planning on going to their stand, it is not a Pearl experience at all, this is a jewelry store that has found a way to distract you from the fact that it is a jewelry store by promoting it as a Pearl/oyster experience. I repeat, this is 100% a jewelry store with an act.

The Pearl Factory is definitely the place to go wether you're a tourist or you just live across the bridge (like me) the customer service is amazing!! I had a misunderstanding about the price of one of their jewelry and Ysmith Montoya the store manager was more than happy to clarify my confusion, and he was 110% concerned about my feelings when he saw the look on my face. I personally don't like to act surprise when I think an item was a completely different price than I thought because I don't want to feel embarrassed especially at a classy place like this. But he made me feel real comfortable and completely unembarrassed. He made sure that I left the Pearl Factory satisfied and happy. That was extremely appreciated, I will definitely becoming back again!

Stumbled upon the booth when walking through Pier 39. I do have to give credit that the ladies are very good at sales. However, I really do not appreciate how deceptive and sneaky they are. After picking out our pearls, we were checking the setting options. We repeatedly said sterling silver and agreed on a setting. The lady took my card and then offered us a free oyster and then added on another setting for a pendant. They purposely do not disclose how much your total is until AFTER your card is swiped and you are asked to sign. Turns out our ring settings weren't silver at all, but white gold. She was very avoidant on the pricing and what material setting she was showing us. Their sales tactic is to get you all happy and giddy but then slap a $900 credit charge in front of you. Begrudgingly, we took our purchase and walked on by. After thinking it through the night, I got angry and upset because I realized I was totally robbed blindly. It's a great sales tactic and they rely on tourist sales because they most likely won't come back for a refund after they realize that they were paying a lot of money for cheap jewelry. I was so fumed that I ended up making the hour drive back to the location the next day and getting my full refund. Never ever again. Save your money and go to a certified jewelers to get a quality pearl ring/necklace/pendant. Oh yeah, the lady that processed our refund was very adamant on getting us to "find something else" and even gave major attitude saying, "But you liked it yesterday so why don't you like today?"

Visited the place yesterday. Was very curious about the whole open the oyster experience. Started off great with welcoming oyster and etc. I missed the part where lady who was helping us started to offer me pendants for the pearl even tho I originally stated we are not interested. She started off with a $700 pendant. After seeing shock in my eyes she quickly offered $200 one. I said again that I want pearl only she started to use manipulation tactics on my husband. "You don't want her to enjoy her pearl? You will not get pendant anywhere else". " You're using your credit card to pay anyway". I haven't experience such an aggressive sales approach in years. Gave these pearls to my niece because looking at them brings up the most disturbing memories from my vacation.

Visited the Las Vegas location where I purchased a pendant and my own pearl. Wonderful experience. After the pearl set (24hrs) I noticed it was set incorrectly. Since the SF location is about 2hr drive from us, we decided to come and hope they could reset the pearl. Arrived and was greeted so I explained what happened. The woman helping us said it would be no problem to reset it. She takes my pendant to the back counter and I can't see what's being done. Once she's done, I ask her to show me as she resets it so I can see that it's being set correctly this time. She hands me the pearl and immediately I noticed brown spots and cracks, she burned the pearl!!!! I was heartbroken :( my husband had picked the oyster so it already had sentimental value to us. It was damaged and once a pearl is damaged - there's no fixing it. She didn't even apologize, she basically said...oh I have to heat it to remove it from the old setting. I responded..I understand but I'm sure burning it is not part of the process. Then she proceeds with trying to sell me a different setting that will cover the burn. Now, I'm frustrated. No apology or trying to make it right with maybe offering to pick another oyster. Instead another Sale she's trying to make. My husband then jumps in and ask..can we pick another oyster in which she agrees. We decide to not get anything set at all and simply get a refund for my original setting and she tells me she has to charge me for the oyster we picked. Wow, I thought it was in consolation of her damaging my original pearl. What a disappointment!! I've given this place so much money through the years as we've always enjoyed our experience. What a way to ruin a good thing!! We left with a damaged pearl and now, bad memories.

Deceptive sales tactics. Sells a pearl for $16 first but then starts tricking you into purchasing more expensive accessories like a $400 pendant or a $40 case. We told them we were in a hurry but they didn't care. Still ended up having to pay $56. Oh and too bad, the oyster sales are final.

The worst pearl experience ever in life! I don’t think I’ll ever do this pearl thing again. Worst customer service! She started off nice and than when I decided against only purchasing the pearl she started shoving the plastic cases in drawer and her entire body language changed. Also, she poked a hole in the pearl prior to showing pendants in which I thought was a no no because what if I didn’t want a hole in it? This should be an option!!! The worst experience! Be warned!
