Paxton Gate is such an incredible and curious shop. I have so many items in my elementary classroom that I use to help teach kids about certain aspects of zoology, dinosaurs, and the natural world. They offer incredibly unique items that any curious patron, be they adult or guest, would love and be fascinated by. I tell everyone I know about this company and browse their site often looking for new and exciting things. They take so much care in their packaging that everything I have received arrive in perfect condition.

Such a "weird"-cool surprising place to check all kind of stuff, either for yourself, to decorate, to give it to someone or for simply curiosity, it worth the visit if you're walking by, the staff is nice, with a good vibe and welcoming.

Everytime I go they complain about something. Honestly their products is unique 50% off the time because other times you are better off buying from Amazon since all they do at is resell at a higher price... The customer experience is just bad... It feels like they are doing you a favor letting you buy something from them.

I learned about Paxton Gate when listening to Yoon Ha Lee's Hexarchate Stories, and I knew I had to check it out. There is a fascinating selection of items ranging from creative taxidermy displays, to preserved critters in test tubes, to rocks and minerals and gardening supplies. Also, the new taxidermy items are ethically sourced, i.e., no animals were harmed in their creation.
All of that would've been enough to justify the trip, but what puts this spot over the top is the amazing staff. In a store where the items could sell themselves, I was floored by the level of kindness and patience demonstrated by everyone working in the store. I felt welcomed and encouraged to browse. (And as a result spent way more money than I'd been intending.) Sincerely can't say enough good things about the people who work here. I'm now contemplating a return visit less than 48 hours after my first!

Paxton Gate is a must visit. This place was one of my most fun experiences in San Francisco as a tourist. You'll truly find stuff here that you wouldn't anywhere else. They've got the craziest specimens, bookshelves full of hilarious books, and a cool mini scape/plant shop in the back. It's a window shopper's paradise. On top of that, the prices are pretty reasonable too. I got 2 awesome sea urchin specimens for $4 and $6. If you love natural sciences, you'll love Paxton Gate.

Amazing selection of the uniquely bizarre. And the people working the shop were super nice and knowledgeable, they even let me put up a poster for an event here in Reno! Loved it, definitely going back with a budget so I can add to my death collection.

What a nifty store full of oddities. Lost track of time as I browsed around since there is always some other cool looking treasure to be found. Would recommend popping in to see what you can find too!
