Very cool especially because it's free and with five dollars you have more than enough to try super old machines even some old ones from the 90's, it took me by surprise that here is the machine that appears in the movie The Princess Diaries as well as a machine Tekken 3. If I lived in San Francisco I would spend all my time playing the slot machines here.

What a unique museum, all interactive and such, well worth walking around. Most of the "games" are only 25¢ or 50¢. I always spend a few dollars here, I like the antique moving attractions that so delighted our grandparents. And now they have "antique" video games from the 1980s? Pac-Man, anyone??

The Musée Mécanique is one of the most unique museums in San Francisco, located on the Fisherman's Wharf. It is famous for its vast collection of over 300 vintage machines and amusement rides, many of which are in working order and can be used for a small amount of coins. The collection includes machines from the early 20th century, such as street organs, pinball machines, mutoscopes (moving image devices), and other mechanical curiosities.
The museum offers visitors a nostalgic experience, allowing them to interact with games and devices that were popular at carnivals, fairs and arcades of yesteryear. It's a fascinating place for history buffs and game lovers alike, combining the charm of entertainment from the past with interactive fun in the present.
Musée Mécanique is a must-see stop for visitors to San Francisco, not only for its rich history and rare machines, but also for its picturesque location near the port's main attractions. It is free to enter, and you only pay to operate the machines, making it an accessible and entertaining experience for people of all ages.

Wonderful experience. Old memories of bygone days became live as we saw old games still functioning.video game, play baseball, play football, pc man, laughing doll, rifle gallery, boxer, marry go round and get answers etc. one can take their photos in the old style camera. All this for a few cents ranging from two quarters to a dollar.
If you forget to bring coins, no worries you can get coins using coins dispensers in lieu of currency notes.
I would recommend it for all nineties and earlier people who have enjoyed these games at some time.
Entry is free.

This place was pretty cool! They had some really old games and everything was really cheap to play. Mostly 25 or 50 cents. Kids would love it! Although I loved it and I'm not a kid. Very nostalgic!

The Mechanical Museum is a free interactive museum, made up of arcade games, automata and 20th century mechanical machines linked to entertainment. This private collection is one of the largest of its type and is presented in San Francisco in the Fisherman's Warf district. There are over 100,000 visitors a year and there are 300 games on display, including music boxes, coin machines, fortune tellers, musical instruments. What made me the most sensation were like table football, but in an American style with basketball throwing games, ice hockey and even baseball...

Very early entertainment games to modern video arcades. It was free entry to look. Games are pay to play. Worth a stop at the wharf.

Super awesome guy that runs the place, awesome retro and vintage vibe but still exciting and fun!
I lost my wallet I didn’t find it unfortunately but the guy who runs it was super awesome and helpful about it. Just make sure you listen to the signs and check your pockets after playing any sit down games, Would very much recommend!!

Amazing collection of vintage and antique games. My favorites are the vintage photo booth ($5) and the horoscope generator, which types out your horoscope on a typewriter as you watch ($0.50). There are machines that will change cash for quarters, but I would recommend bringing smaller bills unless you want $20 worth of quarters. There are also some machines that are only $0.10 or a penny.
