Modernism is what San Francisco art and culture is all about: Eclectic, avant-garde, unexpected, ahead of its time! SIDE-NOTE: With the San Francisco Fall Antique Show happening now, I figure this review should be timely :) Thought-provoking, intriguing, and never-boring. This gallery is San Francisco gem that has now been around for 40 years! And can you imagine, they rotate the exhibit every 6 weeks?! Here's a fun fact: Did you know that the owner, Martin Muller, was the first to show Andy Warhol in San Francisco back in the day? Well it's that kind of trailblazing mentality that has turned Modernism into an institution. Now I'm no art connoisseur, but I have come to learn about the importance of a handful of artists like Helnwein, Jonathan Keats, Malevich - just look them up and you'll appreciate the depth and range of these artists, whom at some point, were each shown in this space. I never went to the old space downtown, but I discovered the new space after they moved to an up-and-coming area of Tenderloin, and the space is just gorgeous. (Plus there are some very cool restaurants nearby). Not to mention, Martin Muller will kindly guide you through any questions you may have. So if you're strolling around the Fall Antique Show this weekend, by all means, check out Modernism's booth. But even better, if you're a local - or traveler - the gallery awaits!
